This fake tan is probably the best fake tan in the market so far! It smells absolutely fine, which means you wont have that ghastly smelling tan on you for days on end and is so easy to apply. I never wore fake tan before, but when i bought this product it was so easy and simple, it made me feel comfortable and i use it every time i go out! I'm a very pale person so i'm wary of using products that'll change my look drastically, but its a major help and it looks so natural with that slight... (read more)

I have used Rimmel sunshimmer false tan for over 15 years and never had a problem applying it evenly and streak free, but every time I use it now I have streaks all over and elbows and ankles are left thick brown. This product used to be alot easier to apply, just a little moisturiser in a line up the leg or down the arm and then the sunshimmer and gently rubbed in to get a wonderful even tan. It's so quick and easy to apply, only takes me about 20 mins to do arms, legs, chest and back. If you do somehow mess it up it's easy to fix as it's wash off! I have the light shimmer which gives a nice subtle colour, definitely not orange just a nice glow. I might try the medium next for a slightly darker tan. Oh my god I have used this for the past two times I have gone out it's awful. I bought the shimmer one and all the sparkels clogged and went black! Really hard to apply took me 2 and a half hours to get it right its stick and bad would reccomend St Moritz cheap and easy application! Do not recomend this! (read more)

Both me and my girlfriend use this product. Actually it's just my girlfriend that has used it but I have seen the advert..and we both agree that it is rubbish and causes streaks and doesn't spread evenly or easily like I would expect from a product that costs as much as £3.99.. So to sum up we don't like this product whatsoeva.also it has ruined our lovemaking due to its vile smell and look. ....my girlfriend just notices that when she applies it she looks like a tangerine or carrot (read more)

After I used a fake spray tan from Loreal 2 years ago I promised myself I would never try again. But I was desperate to get my legs to look presentable (they did not see the sun for 6 years). I bought this washable roduct and I was never more surprised in my life! Fantastic colour (I chose the fairest shade). Yes it does appear pinky at the beginning but then it blends into beautiful tan. The first time i used this i thought the colour was really good until a few hour into the day my freind notice a few red patchies on my arm..i put it down to me having sensitive skin. I used this product for the second time this morning and its now 9pm and i have like the worst rash ive ever seen n my life, its more like a burn its really deep dark red and very noticable!, I never notied it untill My partner came in from work and asked what id done to my arm! I am not allergic to anything else and have never been. I do not have sensitive skin at all and I'm only 17. I put this on at the start of the day- be careful if you buy it, needs to be spread out quickly as it'll dry and go streaky if not. But however by the middle of the day I noticed red itchy bumps clustering around my knee and up my leg. By the end of the day I had full on rashes going up my legs. Obviously doesn't apply to everyone but I would just be aware when buying the product.... (read more)

Has anybody experienced pink staining on fabric as a result of Rimmel Sunshimmer rubbing off on it? I have tried everything to remove this - from initially wiping stains with baby wipes, then using baby wipes with Vanish sprayed on them. Washing garment with Ariel Whitener but cannot get the pink stains removed.If anybody knows a solution to this could you please share. Thank you! (read more)

Fantastic product that I have been using for over 10 years. It is a gel/cream make up that produces immediate results that shower off. Product comes in light or medium and is matt or shimmer. Be warned the medium shimmer is intense deep brown so if you are looking for a subtle glow unless you have darker skin to begin with the result will be dramatic. Wear gloves to apply because it will stain hands, use cosmetic sponge with a little moisurizer for hand/feet application, it will transfer... (read more)

RIMMEL SUN SHIMMER BRONZING MOUSSE = 10/10
This mousse is the best bronzing product I have ever used.
It works instantly, is easy to use, it looks real and it lasts a long time despite what you might first think.
The mousse is a great application technique that supersedes any gel formula; it's light and dries very quickly.
The only draw back is that is can stain your hands pretty well and only lasts one day.
That being said, just coat your hands with some body butter before application...

for someone like me who doesn't tan very easily and finds spray tans a little dark this product is great!!! i use med matte as the shimmer i find makes me look a little over the top. i use daily and mix with a little moisturiser to apply a smoother coverage. i alwys recommend gloves with this product because if you dont work quickly it stains your hands.. overall a great last min fixer. =) (read more)

I bought this because the shop asistant was wearing it. I took it home and tried and was really pleased. I bought it in medium matt but went back and bought the shimmer medium for a party. It didn't really have a smell and dried really quickly so i could put clothes on soon afterwards. I could see the difference and it doesn't streak if you rub in well. I wear the matte sun shimmer every single day and have done since I was 16 years old, I'm now 26!! I use it on my face almost like a base coat which means I don't have to wear bronzer or reapply any make up during the course of the day and because it has a red tint to the gel, it gives a much more natural tan than any of the others on the market... plus its instant, so what could be better! i would strongly recommend sun shimmer to others, i have used it manys of times and find it to be one of the best fake tans around, even though its so cheap! i thought the smell was nice and not too strong, like others. it appeared instantly, with no streak. i would strongly recommend you wear gloves or mittens as it can turn your hands quite orange! its great because if it does turn out wrong all you have to do is pop into the shower (: lol. i tend to use fair matte which gives a lovely... I tried this as I had seen good reviews of it and it was really cheap compared to other products. But I really wasn't impressed - it seems with this product, you get what you pay for. The good thing about this product is it gives you a really good colour (I used medium and I would say I'm fairly pale but tan easily) and it's instant. Rimmel Sunshimmer Instant Tan. This is a fantastic must have product. I personally don't like the shimmer - but use the fair Matte - which is really quite dark. I use it to match up when my real tan is patchy - and I cannot see the difference. In the winter you can put it on top of moisturiser or foundation for a little glow and colour. If you work quickly on face and body you can wash it off your hands before it is permanent. I just keep washing as I prefer to use my bare hands for good... (read more)

The Rimmel Sun Shimmer Self Tan Gel is a really good instant tan and great value for money. Really great too that Rimmel now do a shimmer and a matte version, as the shimmer one was a bit too sparkly for me. The only thing I don't like about it is the smell - it's like granny's perfume! (read more)

Rimmels fake tan is easy to us once you have applied it once as I am useless at applying fake tan I use to ask my friends to do it. Once I descoverd Rimmel Sun Shimmer I always have it as a must in my make up bag for those unplanned nights out. Instant! Non streaky! Dark - you can see where it's going! Wash off pretty much! NOT ORANGE.
So quick and easy. Just use a pair of disposable plastic gloves, smother over your legs for example and hey presto you've been in Turkey for two weeks!

I bought Rimmel Sun Shimmer Self Tan Gel with "added lycra" last summer. This product is much easier to apply than the ordinary sumshimmer. I have used the same sun shimmer for over 10 years as I am allergic to the tan that turn your skin a different colour, I think it is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone. It is so easy to apply and it just washes off and looks so realistic. Absolutely brilliant been using it for years and would never use anything else. I love the colour that I get from this self tan, you have to leave it to dry for a while before putting on clothes so you have to walk around naked for a while!! It is easy to apply as it is tinted so you can see what your doing. Only had it on 1 day and I look like I have been abroad already!

After applying the product my hands were left a strange colour with glitter particles everywhere! This is OK if your young but for a quick and more natural tan I recommend getting a spray tan done at your local beauty shop it costs around £15 looks better and lasts longer (read more)

Needs to at least try the tourist market as I feel the company is missing out on custom. I worked abroad summer 07 in Tenerife and due to working 11/12 hours a day, when I actually had the time to sunbathe i just wanted to sleep. The Rimmel Sun Shimmer Self Tan Gel is easy to apply, just a little tricky in some areas and I would advise to add a little moisturiser to the mixture before you apply it. I applied this once when I was pretty pale and mixed a little moisturiser in with it and it developed extremely quickly, almost immediately, but you can see the full results in just under an hour. Im looking for a self tanner, that can give me the same colouring as Rimmel Sun Shimmer, but will stay a deep tan for the night. When on a night out with the atmosphere you get sweaty & the tan goes within an hour, and when people tip drinks it streaks! (read more)

The best way to go is to get a tan accelerator with SPF in it.I like Australian Gold SPF 8 Spray Gel with Instant Bronzer. It's very water reiantsst and protects you from getting burned, while using the oil and bronzer to accelerate the tanning process.After tanning, I recommend using Banana Boat Moisturizing Aloe After-Sun Tan Preserving Lotion. It keeps your skin hydrated and makes your tan last longer. Both of these products are relatively cheap and can be purchased at Walgreen's.Happy tanning, hope this helps!
