Used this product for the first and last time, it stung my eyes and left an oily residue even after leaveing to dry longer than the recomended time. I didnt like the smell and it stained light coloured clothes and ruined them and even melted my nail polish you would need to wear rubber gloves when appying it to avoid this problem. I did burn slightly maybe I should have used a factor higher than 20. The only plus point to this product is the once a day application but the cons outway the one... (read more)

I have used P20 for at least 10 years with no problem apart from the staining, which is well documented & disappears once dry However the makers have brought out "a new & improved container" it is disastrous, it now has a flip lid to allow the liquid to be poured, it just pours out and the outer cap has been replaced by a snap on lid from the screw variety, I would suggest that you keep your old bottle and continue to use that, I have gone through more P20 in a week than I previously did in... As a very fair-skinned person who's going to live on the equator for a while, I'm testing out a good few sunscreens. So far this one scores highly, although I've only had a chance to test it on a British sunny day, not an African one! I've tested carefully for the other issues people have mentioned - irritation, oiliness, staining - but didn't find any disadvantages that would outweigh the light feel, all-day protection and high SPF. In detail: I didn't react, so I assume some people are... (read more)

I recently used P20 Factor 20, I applied it myself to my legs and arms, then to my husbands back. I suffered a violent reaction on my hands, I was left with red bumps, which were so painful, both hands felt as if they were on fire, and my skin felt really thin, a week later I have the remains of the blisters as evidence and hard callouses as if I have been burned. I was in Grenada and managed to get some cortisone cream from the pharmacy, which did certainly calm it down. I will never buy... (read more)

Omg the exact same thing happened to me. I thought it was because I seem to have a lot of allergies, but clearly I'm not the only one to react. I don't usually do patch tests over 48 hours like they tell you to, but my husband suggested I do cause the lotion goes over a large area of skin. I rubbed in the lotion on the back of my hand and initially just felt a slight burn and itch which seemed to ease. Twenty four hours later I woke to find large chemical type burns over the area I rubbed the lotion on. I must have rubbed the skin off of the blisters when I washed first thing and the result is a number of very sore and hot scabs, which are unbelievably sore to touch and when I move my hand. It scares me to think what could have happened if I had used the lotion over the rest of my body.

I did notice that it was more oily than previously but did eventually dry off. I would use it again and recommend it but there is the slight drawback of white items getting marked but it wasn't too bad.

hi there,
i dont know how old are your children but you should use spf50 or total on kids.
also you should aply the cream at least 30 mins b4 sunb exsposure so the skin can absorb the cream.
sun stroke is something compleatly different from sun burn and sun cream lotions do not prevent sun stroke. it s the combination of heat, sun and humidity as well as dehydration that cause sun stroke.
also if your kids were playing around and were sweating they should reaply the sun cream

A POPULAR suncream which does not protect the skin from UVA rays, long known to cause wrinkles and increasingly linked to skin cancer, is among a number of products withdrawn from sale by a major pharmacy chain here.
The chain of 56 Unicare pharmacies confirmed it no longer sells Rienmann's P20 suncream which offers a \"tan without burning\".
The product which remains on sale in many other outlets has been sold here for many years and has been used on children because it only needs to be applied once a day.
UVB rays are known to be instrumental in causing skin cancer but studies increasingly indicate that UVA can not only leave the skin leathering and wrinkled but may also compound the damage to cells caused by UVB.
There is no warning given on either the box of Rienmann's P20 suncream or the patient information leaflet within that UVA rays may be dangerous.
P20 has a sun protection factor (SPF) of 20 but users may not be aware an SPF rating only applies to the protection from the UVB rays which cause sunburn.
The Irish Cancer Society advises the public to choose good UVA and UVB protection with an SPF of 15 and above, and to apply it every two hours.
\"Sun screens should be applied liberally and repeatedly especially after sport and swimming,\" said Dr Gillian Murphy, consultant dermatologist and advisor to the Irish Cancer Society.
Dr Murphy said that UVA protection should be high in a sunscreen, ideally equivalent to but not less than half the SPF. For example, an SPF of 60 with a UVA protection of 30. Sunscreens using the star system give 4-5 stars to high UVA protection, she added.
Paul O'Hanlon, managing director of Unicare Pharmacy, said his company had decided in February to support the Irish Cancer Society's \"SunSmart\" criteria and was now in the process of delisting and removing all stock that did not meet the guidelines.
\"The policy we follow is not directed at any particular sun care brand - it's a policy in line with the criteria of SunSmart as set out by the Irish Cancer Society,\" he said.
Unicare Pharmacy's aim was to attain the \"best standard there is in suncare\", he said, \"so we list products that are in line with the SunSmart criteria.\"
The company will launch a Responsible Selling Initiative in support of the Cancer Society's SunSmart campaign on May 5.
Riemann and Co, which is based in Denmark, said its product was \"completely safe to use.
\"It is specifically designed for people who wish to tan and therefore does not contain VA filter,\" said Ms Anita Hube of Riemann customer services.
\"If Unicare Pharmacy decides not to carry the product any more, that is of course their choice.\"
The Consumers' Association of Ireland said the sunscreen industry was covered by EU cosmetic products regulations.
These regulations needed to be tightened to ensure that any products that claim to be sun screens offered a minimum level of guaranteed protection.
Dermott Jewell, chief executive of the CAI, said that consumers health cannot be put at risk by products that contravene public health advice.

I have always used this product and now it only takes 15 minutes to activate. It definitely works out cheaper than conventional sunscreens as it is only applied ONCE. However the only concerns I`ve had are that if you lie down on your back or front on a sunbed or beach towel it may rub off. I can say that once applied if you go for brekkie etc. and wear a light shirtor baggy t-shirt, it wont really remove it. WRONG " it clearly states on the box that "P20 can stain some fabrics" and to read the instruction leaflet carefully (this has a detailed section on staining).

One comprehensive covering of Riemann P20 Sunfilter before exposure gives effective day long protection which is waterproof and sweatproof. Oil based alternatives end up being wiped off the highly vulnerable nose and forehead at the start of sweating because nobody wants washable sunblock in their eyes. P20 is the only effective sunblocks for sports or water use. (read more)

I love Reimann P20 Sunfilter! I'm the kind of person that can burn or tan, but with P20 I never burn and always tan - it's like magic! Was out all day in 35degree heat in France, and 40+ in the caribbean and I have never burnt with it on. (The old formula required you to put it on an hour before going out in the sun - my sister got horrendous sunstroke from ignoring this advice!) Allows you to tan - two thumbs up, as vain as that makes me sound. Never burnt with it on, saving me a lot of... (read more)

I've been a user of Riemann P20 since 1992, 17 years! I'm fair haired/skinned and have always had trouble with burning and sun stroke when I was younger. Since discovering P20 I have been able to fully enjoy all my holidays. But for me P20 does exactly what it claims to do (even the new forumula that some don't like). I do get some tanning through it,... (read more)

We have used this product for the last few years and have been pleased with it. However, the manufacturer must have changed the formula this year as it went on initially slightly yellower. we had half a bottle from last year and there was definitely a difference.
We had a disaster at the end of our holiday when the second bottle had stained the sheets at the Greek hotel and we were charged for the sheets and towels to be replaced. stains had not come out in the wash. Initially I thought the...

I agree the manufacturer must have changed the formula, I have used P20 for the past 5 years and it did slightly stain light coloured clothing - but stains did come out in the normal wash. But this year we have just returned from a 10 day holiday in Oman and all our white clothing is stained yellow and it will not come out in the wash, even when washed with biological wash tablets at a 90 degree temperature - we have had to throw away many items of clothing, totally ruined and impossible to wear again. So beware when using this product - I think I will progress this further with the manufacturer and in the meantime have a look for an alternative product which does not stain.
