At 16 months old the Blue illumination has given up the ghost and can not be repaired as the name of the kettle is the illuminator you would have thought that at the very least some attention would have been given to this common problem do not buy as it is a piece of rubbish (read more)

Quite literally has lasted for 1 year and 1 week. Broken lid button, illumination stopped working. Never buying Breville again. (read more)

The Breville JK27 kettle is really easy to use and the stay-warm feature is useful when expecting visitors - even though not very economical. The light-up feature disappeared after about 8 weeks of use and has only lit up twice in the last year. The service team said the fault was not repairable due to the built in parts (bulb fittings). Overall would not recommend this product due to faults that could not be fixed. (read more)

Bought two Breville JK27. Both leaked in about one year. Like most people didn't keep receipts and didn't ask for repair. Just won't buy Breville kettle again. (read more)

This Breville JK27 'looks' like a good kettle, but buyer-beware. They are seemingly NOT built to last and you will probably only get about 6-12 months use out of it before it just stops working. We have had two of these now and neither one lasted over 12-14 months. Also, we recommended this kettle to several of our friends after we purchased the first one. One of theirs lasted 3 months, then the replacement died at 11 months. The other died just over 12 months. (read more)

Bought this kettle 14 months ago, light blew within a couple of months, thought nothing of it, then last week started leaking slightly thro clear panel, tonight flooded worktop.
Will never buy a Breville product again.
Will try, no doubt in vain, to get replacement from Breville.

Our previous kettle was a cheap one from Lidl and it lasted twice as long as this expensive, poorly designed kettle from Breville. I would like to point out to other reviewers whose kettles lasted less than two years that Breville can still be held liable after the one year warranty runs out. You could make a claim in the Small Claims County Court that the kettle was not fit for purpose. A judge would then have to decide on the reasonable life of a kettle. I am sure any reasonable person... (read more)

Good looking kettle, easy to use . Just a pity that the build quility isnt up to scratch. 2 yr old and started leaking suddenly from transparent window and flooded my worktop causing excess swelling to my new worktops and worktop edging strip. Could cost me a few hundred quid to replace !!!! My mum also purchased this kettle and had the same fault after 14 months. Bad design fault and should be addressed by Breville before they lose many customers as I know I wouldn;t buy another Breville... (read more)

I agree with other reviewers that for a 60 kettle it should be a bit longer-lasting. (read more)

The Breville JK27 is a stylish design that's expensive to pay, looks good but ultimately only works properly for a relatively short amount of time. I will be spending my money more wisely in the future. (read more)

Breville JK27 - Had this kettle for 20 months after which the internal light blew. Although this tainted the water at first, after a couple of rinse and refills, it seemed fine. Then two weeks later we noticed it had started to leak from the tranparent panel. I phoned Breville, whose representative was not particularly bothered - the warranty is only for one year (as with most small electrical appliances) and they don't do repairs. I know we drink a lot of tea, but surely a kettle should... (read more)

I am appalled that a kettle costing around £45 only lasts for this length of time and it seems from the other reviews that I am not alone, is this a design fault of this JK27 kettle? The kettle was returned to Breville who at first did not want to know and just offered a replacement one at £50 and after a further complaint letter only offered a £14 discount off a new one. Dont think I will buy a Breville again. (read more)

I was pleased with the Breville JK27 kettle, as it looked smart and boiled quickly, but about a month ago (one month out of warranty) it started to leak slightly from underneath. The leak has now turned to a flood, and I am just off to buy another kettle, which won't be a Breville! (read more)

I am on my second Breville kettle, the first began leaking from the bottom after about 8 months and the retailer agreed to exchange it, now after just over a year the second kettle has sprung a leak! obviously a design fault wouldn't recommend purchasing Breville.
