I have medium length thick hair and decided it was getting scruffy so a neaten up was in order. I asked Hair by Fairy for my long fringe to be left fairly long. I now have the most stupid looking excuse for a short fringe, i think the guy cutting my hair misheard me when i said i didnt want too much off of the top or fringe as i now have the shortest hair i have had in a few years even though i only really wanted it neatened up. I will be wearing a hate for a while i think. I will not be returning.

I heard Hair by Fairy was a good cheap place to get a hair cut and dye in London (so long as you don't mind the fact that often the hairdressers will have a poor understanding of English). I went with an open mind.
Go there if you are happy with the following: There was no greeting at the door, no advice on my colouring and I left with a terrible haircut and zebra streaks. When they washed my hair they squirted water all over me and in my eyes. They weren't as cheap as I thought (£78 for ...- Read Guest's review (157 words)

Hair by Fairy was truly dreadful. I went there to get dreadlocks. All the stylists were outside smoking when I turned up and the manager seemed to ask if anyone wanted to "practice" their dreadlock skills on me so some guy shrugged and sauntered up for the job. Being quite young at the time I just went along with it. It took ages and was incredibly painful and since the stylist didn't understand English I couldn't tell him it hurt or that I needed a break.
The dreadlocks looked awful and many o ...- Read Guest's review (116 words)

It was cheap at Hair by Fairy but nothing spectacular, i am definately not thrilled with the cut and the hair dresser offered very liitle advice on what to do with my hair.
It took less time to cut my hair than drink a glass of water.- Read Guest's review (47 words)

I'd heard Hair by Fairy was really great so, being a bit short of cash, I gave it a go as it was cheap.
I think that I had a bad dye-job and a style that won't sit right no matter what I do.
In my experience you seem to get what you pay for.- Read Guest's review (74 words)

Hair by Fairy really impressed me. It was for an extremely reasonable price, £13 for a Wash and Cut. I really liked the way my hair turned out.
Overall, I enjoyed Hair by Fairy.- Read Guest's review (74 words)

I've been to Hair by Fair a few times now, and thus far my cuts have been fairly good, though nothing superbly amazing (although one time, despite showing them what I wanted, I got something so far removed from the picture that it was unreal.. Thankfully I liked it) and the price has always been right. The only problem is you feel like a chess piece being shuffled back and forth throughout the salon.... That and the guy at the front desk is the most angry person I've ever met. He really seems to ...- Read Guest's review (133 words)

Although there was no conversation between myself and the hairdresser, she spoke perfect English and understood exactly what I was after. I was only after a trim and a general tidy up, I walked out with a very funky shape and my length in tact. I would definitely go here again!- Read Guest's review (105 words)

The hairdressers are very good and friendly. I have been going there for almost 10 years and have never had a bad cut. The price is amazingly reasonable.- Read Guest's review (27 words)

Now, I'm the first to admit I have quite 'difficult' hair. It's VERY thick and curls up something chronic at the back and sides, probably worsened by the fact I keep trying to grow it to medium/long length on top.
This being said however, the service and cut I recieved in this salon was awful.
On entering, the man at the desk merely looked at me and pointed to an available sink to get my hair washed. No 'how are you today?' or even 'hello'!
I was then shunted over to a young man who, on my t ...- Read Guest's review (205 words)

This is a complete lottery - your stylist might speak English, but then again, may notI would go back here if I could choose the stylist, I'm sure most of them are fine, but it's always tricky with the language barrier.I've given it a 7, because of the excellent cut I received, otherwise it would have been a 3 because of hygiene issues.- Read Haldir's review (113 words)

As I walked in the manager was just shouting at all the staff, who clearly couldn't have cared less - I wish I had just walked out then!
My hair is/was long and straight and all I wanted was a trim. When I told the hairdresser this he barely seemed to acknowledge it (could have been a problem of understanding, as he barely spoke any English), and went ahead to cut my hair quite short with very short and frankly ridiculous looking layers. My hair is now completely ruined. I clearly wasn't happy, ...- Read jenifer03's review (119 words)

I have dead straight Asian hair & am always struggling to get some body and movement into it. I tell this to the hairdresser every time I go to Hair by Fairy and they always do a great cut that I'm happy with, and in record time! So far I've always been happy with the cuts I've had there. Be warned that the blow-drying can be a bit half hearted so you'll probably have to go home and do a bit of styling yourself.- Read merieri's review (83 words)

Hair by Fairy is a nice salon. I got the feeling that this salon is more for punky types and people that like cutting edge do's. Overall you get what you pay for (in a good way). Would definitely go back in the future though.- Read cathdu's review (82 words)

I went to Hair by Fairy on personal recommendation and was disappointed. It's cheap alright but you certainly get what you pay for. I just wanted a trim for my one-length, long, straight hair. Hairdressing 1:1, you might think. My hair was washed without even asking what kind of cut I wanted (luckily it was only a trim). The cut itself was uneven so I pointed this out and was told this would be sorted out when it was dry. OK but it never even got blow-dryed. I was even told that she had done me ...- Read 1977's review (174 words)

I've had long hair all my life - it's down to my waist - but hardly down to the floor or anything. I went to Hair By Fairy for the first time one morning and said I wanted a few inches cut off. The man at the desk sneered at me and said my hair was too long to be washed in their sinks! Their sinks are the same as any other salon sink I've ever had my hair washed in. I felt embarrassed and slightly humilated.- Read Rossers14's review (107 words)

Hair by Fairy hairdressers offer the cheapest haircut in central London by far. A unisex price of £12.50 (without tip) for a wash, cut and blow dry. Their English isn't the best, so be very specific about what you want. I haven't yet had a bad haircut there, but you can't be afraid to give your hairdresser a bit of direction. It's the best value for money haircut you'll get without heading out to Stokie. Get there early, as there tend to be queues.
I'm planning on going again this Frid ...- Read sophustanus's review (103 words)

Many staff at the Hair by Fairy salon do not speak good English and so the chances of being misunderstood are high. If they do understand you, the cuts are of average quality. Salon decor is not very nice. In my opinion colouring is overpriced and not high quality.- Read londoner's review (78 words)
