Good Points: None
Bad Points: Lots, filters block too easy.
General comments: Buy somethings else, do not waste your money. This Hotpoint FDW80 is a waste of anything. Filters can't even cope with a little rice!

Hotpoint they used to have a good name and good customer service but that's a thing of the past....

There is no way I would have chosen this machine. It came as a replacement for an old Hotpoint which I was sad to see go, but they couldn't get replacements for it. As soon as i get my act together it will be replaced!

Since purchasing this dishwasher we have had nothing but problems with the AL10 fault coming up.
We have had numerous engineers out who have basically rebuilt the machine and still it comes up with the fault. Don't bother, buy something else!

I bought this Hotpoint FDW80 dishwasher in July 2005, in October 2006 it developed an AL10 fault - I've had several visits from Hotpoint engineers and none of them have been able to solve the problem. I have now been offered a replacement (Jan 2007) from my insurance company and they have agreed that I can choose a different brand to Hotpoint as I've also had trouble with my oven and cooker hood, both also made by Hotpoint. I would never purchase Hotpoint again or recommend Hotpoint to anyone.

Although the Hotpoint FDW80 dishwasher looks good, it is the worst dishwasher in the world when it comes to loading. The baskets are useless, and because of this you can't fill it properly, so it takes 2 washes to do one load.
I would never buy another one of these. We have had it for less than 6 months and we are already thinking of replacing it.

I am so gutted i gave my 10 year old Bosch machine away as i want it back, this is my second replacement machine, the first one was dented and the controls were loose, this one also has a loose control panel and doesnt give a decent wash.
Trying to get my money back but having a hard time!

Got my Hotpoint FDW80 dishwasher 11-2-05 had a Hotpoint engineer come out 12-4-05 as I had AL10 fault. Then a week later then 3 days later then was offered a replacement on 2-5-05 never got the new until 31-9-05 on the 10-11-05 got same fault hate this dishwasher and would never buy again.

My Hotpoint FDW80 dishwasher worked OK for 6 months, then the drain pump would continually run, as it had detected a water leak (fair enough). A Comet engineer fixed it. We got one further wash, and the same fault reoccurred. Another engineer and another fix, and two washes this time before the fault returned. On the third visit, the engineer was unable to fix it, and recommended either a refund or another machine.
It worked well for the first 6 months, but overall poor reliability. ...

My Hotpoint FDW80 was DOA due to a stuck solenoid on the water input port. The biggest problem, was that Comet refused to take it back until one of their engineers visited and agreed it didn't work. I wasted a whole week, so in all, the machine may be OK if you get a good one, but Comet's customer services leaves a lot to be desired!

Had the Hotpoint FDW80 unit to replace a DF 61 Hotpoint Aquarius. Since the twins were born over 18 months ago it has been hammered with two full washes per day. The only issue was when the floor got wet the lower door seal grew in size and popped off. I removed the door panel retrimmed the seal to size and ordered a replacement.

The Hotpoint FDW80 is without doubt the worst and most unreliable dishwasher I have ever come across.
It has broken down (same problem) 5 times in just over a year. Different repair men have turned up (sent by Hotpoint)and have never truly fixed this appliance. Overall performance, even on the odd occasion it has worked, is dire.
Avoid, I would rather buy fairy liquid and rubber gloves than trust one of these.
