Avoid Avoid AVOID!!!! I have had this Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher for 2 years now and it has gone wrong 3 times. The heating circuit packs up every time. As it is over the 12 months they charge £159 to replace it every time regardless of when last fitted as the parts are not covered. Ok the machine looks nice in grey and to replace it you look at over £300, but this is the last time i buy Hotpoint and the last time i replace this part. Service centre polite but tried to tell me that Finish D/W cleaner is no good and the fault was because i am not using hotpoints own special D/W cleaner (at a cost of £38 for 2 years supply). Other thigs that are rubbish is the layout of the trays, they are not well thought out and the cutlery tray fell to peices after 9 months. I bought a Bosch one and it is still in tact. Please dont fall into the trap of buying this item. Im not bitter but i wish i had read a review like this prior to buying, i would have gone another manufaturer. at the end of the day it YOUR CHOICE but dont say you were not warned

I have owned a hotpoint FDW60 for 3 years and it is absolute garbage. It has broken 3 times and this last time it needs a new board so I have decided to ditch it for good. Stay away! it is unreliable, noisy and poor, poor value for money. Like a previous reviewer I had my last dishwasher for 11 years without any problems.

Even on the "Intensive" setting, the plates and dishes are usually left covered in dirt. This Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher is junk.

The Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher is a very good machine and well worth the money. I'd reccommend it.No problems in the 4 years of ownership.

The Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher is a fairly typical current dishwasher! I couldn't actually say that it has any really good points unfortunately. I bought it on special offer a couple of years back so I'm not really disappointed with it I just can't say anything good about it! I have found that it's really important how you load it and that the 'eco' setting can produce TERRIBLE wash results combined with less than optimal loading. I also used hot water to fill it for a while which can only be des ...

After drying, this machine leaves loads of dried- on residue on glass and mugs, which we have to wash again.Spinning water sprayer on top rack becomes unbalanced over time, so it catches on the rack stopping it from spinning and spreading water around the machine. Another problem is that the cutlery holder is weak, and big holes in the mesh appear. Cutlery falls through the holes stopping the bottom rotary sprayer from rotating leaving dirty dishes. Wish I had paid a bit more and went for a bett ...

I had the Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher for less than 3 years and has burned out 4 heater elements. First one was covered, second only part covered, third done at my expense, fourth - gave up and binned.
This is a pile of junk - the design appears to be at fault for a machine to constantly kill the heater. Looks like a good price at £220 now but cost us over £350 when we got it - d'oh!

I bought my Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher end April 2008, by October a whole six months later. The eco and delicate lights lit. No explanation in the manual. A engineer had to come out and replace the heating element. I was shown the offending piece and it appeared a little furred up. This was why it was overheating.
I was told that I was using inferior wash tablets (???Fairy or finish whatever !)
Also he sold me some caustic cleaner substance to use monthly.
So from then on it was only Quantum fini ...

I bought the Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher 14 months ago and it appeared to be fine although didn't wash or dry particularly well. Then there was a burning smell and it banged and blew the fuse, on further investigation I found it had burnt the wiring at the heater,a serious fire risk. It will now be scrapped as I would never trust it again.

I bought a Hotpoint FDW60 19 months ago after having terrible problems with another brand & thought my problems would be over, little did I know then. I have had 4 call outs alone this week & 4 call outs at least since I bought it. It doesn't wash properly at all at the moment, any residual dirt on dishes won't come off, only rinses in warm - hot water though not as hot as it should be. won't dry then the eco light & 45 degree light flashes, engineer has replaced arms where water come out of ...

Wish we had never bought this. We have had it about 24 months now and it has only worked properly for the first two months. We have had numerous thermostat, heating motor, card problems. We have had engineers out to it four times now but it still wont work properly. Drying has never been brilliant, probably due to the fact the heating system has never worked! It is now out of its extended warranty and hotpoint expect us to pay for the call outs and parts even though it still the same problems as ...

Anybody looking to buy this Hotpoint FDW60 - please do not! Bought this model in May 2005 - I know that's 3 years ago, but on average it's used once a week. Between 09/2007 & 06/2008 it has reported 8 faults and had 5 replacement parts, 4 of those being the circulation motor - very poor.

Poor service response in my opinion from Hotpoint and very noisy for a supposed 'super silent' dishwasher!

My Hotpoint FDW60 worked properly for first 5 washes according to instructions then seemed to have brain storm. won't let me set a programme, trouble shooting suggestions don't work at all and the buttons don't do what they are supposed to-only had it 3 weeks! Will have to get engineer out. Was advised by friend not to get one, wish I'd listened. Won't be buying another, unless put right unsatisfactory.

We've never been particulary impressed with its washing cabilities.
When the filter blocks rather than having a warning light for it to indicate the problem the 'Eco' light just flashes at you, surely it wasn't rocket science for Hotpoint to encorporate a 'filter light warning' into the design.
Now after 17months it appears that our 'Control Board' has packed up, symptoms are: Any chosen cycle begins with the usual noises, however it does not wash properly, doesn't heat up at all and doesn't dry ...
