Good Points: When working cleans well.
Bad Points: Noise, less than a year old and engineer out again this week 3 times since I've had the thing. Flashing lights, blockage, brought it through Currys who have been very good, and will have to get warranty extended as I have no faith this will not happen again.
General comments: My last dishwasher was 6 years old, hotpoint Aquarius like this FDW60, moved from Wales, to Scotland to England (forces :-) ) so thought it did great with all the different types of water.
Very dissapointed with this one not recommend one bit

Anybody looking to buy this Hotpoint FDW60 - please do not! Bought this model in May 2005 - I know that's 3 years ago, but on average it's used once a week. Between 09/2007 & 06/2008 it has reported 8 faults and had 5 replacement parts, 4 of those being the circulation motor - very poor.

Poor service response in my opinion from Hotpoint and very noisy for a supposed 'super silent' dishwasher!

My Hotpoint FDW60 worked properly for first 5 washes according to instructions then seemed to have brain storm. won't let me set a programme, trouble shooting suggestions don't work at all and the buttons don't do what they are supposed to-only had it 3 weeks! Will have to get engineer out. Was advised by friend not to get one, wish I'd listened. Won't be buying another, unless put right unsatisfactory.

We've never been particulary impressed with its washing cabilities.
When the filter blocks rather than having a warning light for it to indicate the problem the 'Eco' light just flashes at you, surely it wasn't rocket science for Hotpoint to encorporate a 'filter light warning' into the design.
Now after 17months it appears that our 'Control Board' has packed up, symptoms are: Any chosen cycle begins with the usual noises, however it does not wash properly, doesn't heat up at all and doesn't dry ...

Well after reading all the other reviews of this Hotpoint FDW60 I guess I've just been lucky with my machine. I bought it 6 years ago I have never had to call an engineer out and it still going strong. I like how the bottom plate rack folds down to fit in saucepans and stuff. Design of machine looks goods and I've been generally pleased with it. My previous Hotpoint machine however was a different story, thankfully I had it insured and after about 2 years the engineer got so fed up with co ...

Booklet doesn't say what most failure codes are. I've had it 2 years, has required an engineer both years. That means I have almost spent the purchase price on fixes within 24 months of purchase.

You would get a better wash by taking your plates down the river. I will never buy another one of this companies products again.

No interest from Hotpoint as to why the same problem keep accruing and absolutely zero effort to take responsibility for a below par product. Highly recommend buying an alternative brand.

For sixteen months this machine was OK, if nothing special. Now I am getting the same problems others have listed. Flashy lights indicated blockage - there was none. 1 week wait for engineer who was very nice but didn't seem to know what he was doing and said it was probably caused by using tablets (as they recommend!) rather than liquid. Said it was fixed, but fault recurred just as he was taking my £89 payment. Now said it needed new circuit board, which was ordered and another appointme ...

Do not buy one of these machines, they are rubbish!! First one broke down 3 times in 9 months (the usual error lights 4 & 6 flashing) so Hotpoint replaced. The second machine has also now broken down 3 times with the same fault, after having for 1year & 1month so not even covered by warranty anymore, Hotpoints attitude is 'Tough Luck!'

My experiences concur with the comments made above about poor draining. After about a year mine blocked and would not drain. Hotpoint's engineers can only be telephoned during office hours and can only come when one is at work and need two weeks' notice anyway.
The manual does not say what the flashing lights mean except call an engineer.
We got an ex-Hotpoint engineer to come out who explained that the outer mesh filter needs to be put in a particular way otherwise the filter will clog an ...

Even when everything is washed beforehand in the sink, the filter still blocks and it doesn't drain away. Then 2 flashing lights. Drained by hand then 2 flashing lights, drained by hand then 2 flashing lights - occasionally cleared and worked (once a month?). Had to wash up by hand! Not happy - I hate the Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher, and there is no warranty, as I got it from eBay, but it was new and boxed!!! Then I bought a secondhand dishwasher, as I desperate, and that blew the trip switch ...

We've had our Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher for 14 months, and we have never been particularly impressed with it. It doesn't load particularly easily, and it has never cleaned particularly well. However, as soon as the guarantee expired after 12 months, bits started dropping off, and after 14 months it has stopped working altogether. Our previous dishwasher was a Hotpoint, and it lasted 15 years, which is why we went for a Hotpoint again. We won't be buying another one though!

If you are considering buying one of these heaps of garbage Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwashers - DON'T! I am taking it back to get my money back - I thought the Zanussi I had previously was rubbish but this thing sets new levels in rubbishness. You have been warned!

My Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher is only 13 months old and low and behold it went wrong. Flashing fourth and sixth light, thermostat problem, Hotpoint came and fixed it. Low and behold two months later same fault - Would not touch Hotpoint again. Have also had a Hotpoint washing machine in my time, that had endless problems as well.

If I reviewed this just two weeks ago, I would have said the Hotpoint FDW60 was a Godsend of all Dishwashers.
Clean, efficient, not to mention QUIET!.
A fault developed just 10 days ago, so I phoned Hotpoint.

The Hotpoint FDW60 washes good, much better than our last mid-economy model. Its quiet, I often have to walk in to see if its done. Children can sleep near it.
Two months old and packed up with a flashing light, lost booklet so don't know what it means (fast wash light), no info on Hotpoint website about this model that I could find. No downloadable manual on this model. Machine starts to fill as soon as power is applied so I presume there is stuck water in the inlet valve.
