    Appalling interest rates - £30000+ = 0.3%
Links on website to an alternative fixed rate postal isa which gives 3.5% interest are not working - surprise. I have reported this 3 times to no avail!
Overall Abbey do not seem to care that a customer who has been with them for 30+ years is unhappy.
I am in the process of moving my money never to return.

Abbey lost my account twice, did'nt transfer the money into the isa, sent the money back to the account it was taken from and took 8 months to open and finally set up the account, during which time I had no access to my money.
They also promised to compensate me for loss of interest and inconvenience, they finally did this after loads of phone calls 12 months later. Would never invest again.

Getting money into My Abbey ISA was near on impossible, 2 months on, they have only just set up a link to my existing abbey account, the branch and the isa people can't talk to each other, the people on the phone were less than helpful.
I would not recomend and Abbey Products

Afrter waiting in a queue for about half an hour, I asked the Teller if I could speak to someone about improving the interest rate on my cash ISA. Iwas told that there was none avalable to speak to me as their advisor was to busy. This put me off right away, it seems as if they could't care less about my custom, needless to say I will be withdrawing from the Abbey.

I switched to the Abbey Cash Isa in January as they were offering 2.9% interest. My account had been with Halifax which was offering just 2%.I was angered to find out that instead of this rate I had been paide 0.1%, and was rewarded with a measley £11.14! I know the economy is still unstable, but I would have received almost 20 times this if I had stayed with Halifax.I cannot help but feel that this is like the advert for Nationwide where the large rate was shown just to 'hoike' the cust ...

i open my direct isa with abbey and they took 4 months to transfer my money from halifax to abbey and abbey claimed that they still did not have the documentation. i had been into the branch 4 times todo this and twice with the branch manager and they still did not get the documents. i then filled in my 5 set of documents and went to the complaints dept before it was processed and then it took another 4 months for abbey to take money from my halifax isa to abbey. in total this process took me ...

Briefly, I opened the Abbey Direct ISA Issue 2 and transferred from Halifax. The transfer took somewhere in the region of 4 weeks.
Now that it's all setup though, I cannot access my account through the cash card they've given me!
And I recently tried getting internet access to my ISA. 2 weeks ago I applied for this and I've still received nothing in the post.
Went in branch and they say it can take 3-4 weeks.
I just can't understand this when most other banks set up internet banking right away, ...

Abbey decided to put the interest earned by my ISA over the last two years into my current account. Numerous phone calls, calls into two of their offices and a letter on 4 April 2008 enclosing cheque for the amount involved have failed to get this interest returned into the tax-free zone. What is the point of taking out an ISA if they take interest out of the tax-free area?
My advice is to steer very clear of Abbey if my experience is anything to go by. I've spent a fortune in phone calls to the ...

I recently opened an online Abbey ISA, which was unclear so checked in the branch. The staff were not properly trained to offer
professional advice and after an altercation with the branch manager I found I was £700 overdrawn on my cash account because the ISA had been incorrectly processed. I then asked for a copy of my online ISA application form which was sent to me in the post complete with details of my Nat Ins Number, my maiden name, marital status, date of birth, full debit card nu ...

My recommendation would be not to touch the Abbey. They have not got one thing right for me so far, the staff are full of apologies but this doesn't mean you will get the service every customer deserves.

I recently tried to open a Direct ISA with Abbey. Everthing seemed to be going swimmingly until this morning when I received a letter from them saying I was yet to return my application form and supporting documentation - despite the fact I had returned these documents two weeks earlier.

After a 50 minute phone call (from a mobile) and 5 service teams later I was still no closer to finding out what had happened. Totally frustrated, I went into a local branch where the remarkably unhelpful staf ...

I closed my current account 2 months ago due to poor service, they advertise 8% current account, trouble is they would not give it to you in writing, in the paperwork it only states 2.65%, so got fed up , and closed the account.
After taking out ALL my cash, got a cheque and letter, saying I had 53 pence in my account, this after specially asking for all my money when closing the account
Trouble is, for raising cheques they charge 20 pounds, so no way I was going to cash it!!!
    Now I got a lette ...

This is the worst postal account I've had - DO NOT make the mistake of being enticed my their attractive rates, as their poor postal service will take up to 2 months to acknowledge your deposit. I guess I should have realised sooner that this account was a no-hoper- after it took a good 10 weeks to set up the ISA transfer from my previous provider.

After a dreadful experience in opening a Direct ISA Account, which took between 6 - 7 weeks to transfer into Abbey from my previous provider, I received a mini statement of my account from Abbey, which contained not only an incorrect account number, but also the balance of my account. I deposited £3000 to my account for the financial year 2007/2008, which did not show in their statement, so I phoned them about this error, and I was told that the above £3000 was credited in my origina ...

I haven't received a statement for my ISA account for over a year. Although I have twice made a request over the phone, and once at the branch, to be assured they would call me back to apologise and send me one, but that was 6 months ago. I tried over the phone again today to some call centre where English presumably was not the first choice language. In the end I had to put the phone down in exasperation. Now I'm moving elsewhere.

I previously cancelled my bank account with Abbey National ...

I have held an ISA account with Abbey National from day one, and although I am not dissatisfied with the product, I feel the interest rates have slipped against the competition over the past couple of years, and I may shop around shortly.
The staff seem to change on the odd occasion when I call into a branch, and my local branch is a bit run down. There is never a queue, but two doors up, the Halifax is always full - tells a story perhaps?

I have heard from several people that they have had problems using the phone system for Abbey. However, I opened my Mini Cash ISA through my local branch and had no problems at all. Abbey actually opened me an easy-access ISA instead of the Postal one, but when I phoned them up, the bloke on the phone sorted it all out for me and put my money into the Postal ISA instead - a change from telephone staff, who can't actually do anything to your account for you!

Months ago, I called Abbey National enquiring about their postal ISA and requested an information pack, but never received anything. Makes you wonder what they are busy doing everyday.
