Good Points: The CD includes two awesome tracks only available on this release and a live recording of the title track "Fear."
Bad Points: None.
General comments: Gorefest, Fear E.P. - Holland death metallers 'Gorefest' managed to build up quite a name for themselves in the '90s with their powerful, aggressive, technically proficient yet reasonably melodic take on the metal genre. In 1994, the band released the four-track Fear E.P. whose title track was taken from the album 'Erase' of the same year.
The tracklisting is as follows:
1. Fear
2. Raven
3. Horrors '94
4. Fear [Live]
Released through Nuclear Blast Records, the production quality is superb, delivery a crisp, clear sound to the tracks. The CD kicks off with the guitar-dominant metal number "Fear." Vocalist Jan-Chris De Koeijer delivers some powerful vocals with his deep, guttural growl that reflects the group's low down-tuned sound.
The CD continues with the downbeat morbid sound as the group bring on two previously unreleased tracks that deliver the same 'Doom' quality as the title track. The CD ends with a live version of "Fear" that shows the sheer energy and technical ability of the group along with how tightly they play together live.
Well worth a listen.
