Good Points: The first track on the album "Nothing" is actuallly a really good song.
Bad Points: The CD soon falls into a standard, Blink 182-sounding album.
General comments: A, Hi-Fi Serious - The year of 2002 saw the release of the pop-punk rock outfit 'A' album "Hi-Fi Serious." Having followed on from the 1997 debut album "How Ace Are Buildings," this new album was set to blow open the UK music scene doors for the band.
The tracklisting is as follows:
1. Nothing
2. Something's Going On
3. 6 O'Clock On A Tube Stop
4. Going Down
5. Took It Away
6. Starbucks
7. The Springs
8. Shut Yer Face
9. Pacific Ocean Blues
10. The Distance
11. W.D.Y.C.A.I.
12. Hi-Fi Serious
The album begins with the explosive track "Nothing" that became a favourite track in rock clubs around the UK. With a finely-produced sound and electronic samples to accompany the track, the song thrust the band deep into the limelight for the first time. Delivering a super-thick wedge of guitars and a funky electronic beat, the track is an absolute winner for the band.
After the initial track, the album seems to fall into a collection of pretty standard British new-wave punk tracks. Vocalist Jason Perry's voice can become slightly annoying in places with its 'teenage' angst sound to it.
No other tracks seem to really stand out on the album, as it soon falls into a very Blink 182 sound. If you like this style of music, then I expect you'll love the album.
