Good Points: amazing graphics! Deep gameplay! Unique soundtrack! Abundant characters and replay value! Great idea!
Bad Points: They should have kept the combo system from X-Men Vs. Street Fighter!
General comments: An overall fantastic quality! The game takes a brilliant concept and executes it with an amazing presentation! Marvel comic 's characters battle Capcom's with graphics and gameplay similar to Street Fighter 2. With a playable roster of 55 selectable fighters that are gradually unlocked with experience points, Marvel vs Capcom 2's level of replay is monolithic. The 2D graphics are a pinnacle for both the Dreamcast's abilities and the 2D sprite medium, and few 2D fighting games have this much fluid detail. It is commendable how Capcom brings Marvel to life with such authenticity and personality, even making use of the same voice-actors who dubbed Marvel's cartoons in the 90's. The fighting engine is simultaneously strategic yet accessible, and elevates the total package to classic status. This is essential gaming for fans of both Marvel and Capcom!
