“Lost paperwork containing personal info, bank details...”

What a nightmare getting one of these debenhams cards turned out to be. I didnt even really want the card but was foolishly talked into it by the debenhams cashier. All went well, I cleared my balance, spent and cleared again. Then two months later I got a letter from the store telling me that they had lost my paperwork and had therefore frozen my account until I reapply. Debanhams card was fine when santander issued it then it changed to new day. Terrible card Customer services are atrocious I have cancelled my card as of today won't be shopping no more in debanhams. “Steer clear of setting up a Direct Debit Mandate”

Like others I wish I had read reviews on taking a Debenhams Store Card to save 20percent. I complete the Direct Debit Mandate form which came through with my 'start up package'. Checked my bank statement and I could see the NewDay DD waiting to pay my balance IN FULL that month as I had instructed. Off I went on my travels, thinking all sorted. 22/092015 Alas it's not just the card its customer service too is bad! To be fair at the outset I was late making a payment by a few days. I had returned from abroad and on opening my post noted a bill from Debenhams Store Card, payment due by 18/09/2015. I immediately rang the number on the bill to sort out the issue. “Poor service and lack of transparency”

We are leaving Debenhams as a credit card company as they: 1. Failed to set up the direct debit correctly as requested 2. Produce paperwork that makes it look like you have paid off when it has not been 3. Their service personnel are disconnected from their firm and seem not to be bothered It cost us two premium rate phone calls (once to set up direct debit and secondly ask why it was not working) and we won't be reimbursed for this. “DREADFUL COMPANY -READ REVIEWS FIRST”

I was talked into taking this card out in store to receive a 20% discount that day. I always pay the full amount as soon as receiving statement so as not to occur any charges. Statements were missed then when the statement did arrive it had £12 late payment fee. I phoned, complained, paid in full and closed the account. Wish I had done my research before opening a card with debenhams! I set up a direct debit to pay the full amount each month and received a letter confirming it had been set up. When my first statement arrived I thought it would be automatically paid. No such luck! The bill was not paid and I was charged £50 in total for late payment fees and interest. Apparently DD take 6 weeks to be activated but I argued that it does not say anything about that in the letter plus on the back of the statement… Read Full Review

I have had Debenhams store card for the last 7 years, until today. Never had any problems with it until recently. My card details have been stolen at some point, a few years ago, and even that was handled very well. When New Days have taken over, that's when trouble has started. I applied for this card in end of 18 Nov 2014. After receiving my card, 4 December, I phoned them and set up my direct debit and I received the conformation of direct debit set up! but when in 5 Jan 2015, they phoned me and they told me I did not pay the bill, so I pied that by debit card straight forward but they even charged me 12 GBP for late payment fee and couple 10 GBP for interest! “Terrible call centre”

Totally incapable of handling a simple change of address. Appalling waiting times for call centre being charged at 5p per min to wait to speak to somebody, with automatic system taking 3 mins 40 secs before being put on hold. Took 3 attempts to get the address changed as they keep getting it wrong. Foreign call centre with very difficult to understand accents and with no knowledge or understanding of British addresses or spelling… Read Full Review

The call centre is based in Leeds. It is not a "foreign call centre." All the staff there live in or around Leeds so I would assume they do have a knowledge of British addresses.

“Not to be ever trusted!”

Disgusting is an understatement. I got sucked in 2nd time on the assurance this was a new bank unlike the previous one which had lots of complaints. My first & only condition was setting up a DD for full payment first of each month. I sent DD instruction form by post recorded delivery. Like with their previous card, it was not set up. I have been on hold, on FIVE separate occasions, for one hour, only to be cut off each time before even speaking to an advisor. I am sick of hearing "all our associates are busy" ....What are they busy doing? Making tea? Because it isn't answering the phone! To begin with, I just wanted to change the address on the card.
