“Not for long”

Tyres are for 2-3 years only, even if you don't drive a lot. I'd buy something else next time though all my summer tyres were continental before.

“Good economy but excessive wear”

★★★☆☆

written by on 23/11/2014

£444 for a set of 4 from Kwik Fit. OEM was Bridgestone, I got 35k miles from them. 18 months and 18k miles later on the Conti's and I'm down to the wear limit (but I do get good fuel economy). I'm not a sporty driver - most miles are on Motorways so the tyres are inflated to the stated max (41psi) Got a blister on the front nearside tyre after 15k....that came out of nowhere. No scuffing on the tyre.

Mine are about three years old. The tread depth is OK but they show bad cracking at the sides. I wouldn't buy them again.

“Conti's are over rated”

★★★☆☆

written by on 29/06/2012

Contact 2 are an expensive over rated & priced summer tyre, that wears out very quickly. OK dry road holding. OK wet road holding. Very poor tread wear for the cash spent. Extremely poor for winter use.

“Contis Contact 2 on Audi A4 ”

written by on 18/04/2012

Had over 25,000Kms on them and is ready to replace why ? - The handling is bad, it can't run on a straight line. It drifts to the left even after computerized allignment - Wear is not even - Very noisy - The rubber compound is hard and you can feel all bumps and stuff - Grip on dry is below average, on Wet is bad - no grip - After 10,000Kms, the tires has very visible cracks around the side wall Don't buy these tires, it shouldnt be on the market at all.

“Yet Another Ruined Tyre !”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/02/2012

I have now replaced FIVE Contisport C3 tyres due to bubbles appearing in the sidewalls. All of these tyres have had to be replaced long before they have worn out, due to bubbles appearing in the sidewalls. The bubbles are very soft and can be pushed in easily with your finger. They have varied from the size of a large marble, to one about the size of half a golf ball! I've searched the internet and this seems a common problem for these tyres. Dangerous! - No more Contisport for me!

Similar experience. I've had to replace 3 of these tyres on my Volvo V70 D5 in the last 2yrs (less than 10,000 miles), the first within 2 months. Each time following contact with (minor) potholes on sufaced roads. Running over nice flat surfaces is fine, but the thin walls don't seem man enough for non-motorway UK roads. Motoring is expensive enough without having to rerplace these pricey tyres every 3,000 miles.

“Porsche 911 2003 Turbo ($150k dollar Car in the USA) ”

★★★★★

written by on 14/03/2010

Porsche 911 2003 Turbo ($150k dollar Car in the USA)

Continental ContiSport Contact 2 N-2 (Porsche specific)
Tread Wear = 280

Rear: 295/30ZR18
N2 (Porsche)
Sidewall Style: Blackwall
Z Speed Rated
UTQG: Treadwear: 280
Traction: AA
Temperature: A
280 AA A

I got about 15k miles on these tires for the rears, in Atlanta GA USA. The heat and heavy traffic is horrible here. The fronts show no where at all. The road handling and stickyness is beyond any other tire I have purchased. I hit a curb a couple days ago and the tires didn't even get marked. My rim (wheel) however needed very minor cosmetic repairing. The impact triggered the yaw sensor, abs and pcm faults! However the tires handled perfectly under the crazy rain, and saved me from a huge wreck even with low tread depths. So I decided to replace the rears with the same make and model.

In the end you'll get about 10k-15k miles off of these tires (rears for sports) under normal driving conditions. On a Porsche or any other sports car only the rears will get this low mileage.

So this huge 18" ultra wide sport tire will cost about $300-$400 dollars per tire to replace per year. Typical for rear super cars. $600 bucks is a small price to pay per year for perfect grip, speed rating, performance and safety. Otherwise you can get a harder compound and the tires will last longer, but will slide around much more and not give you handling, performance and safety like these do. You can not put a price on safety vs. saving a couple bucks. The older you get the more you will realize this.

“After 12000 miles the front tyres are finished. This...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/02/2010

After 12000 miles the front tyres are finished. This is just unacceptable when one considers that they are expensive and original equipment to my new Audi A4 Cabriolet, now only one year old. I would have to say that on rutted roads the tyres never did give any sense of directional stabilty. Under normal conditions they performed as well as any tyre might and it make me wonder if it is a better idea to by cheap tyres from a lesser known manufacturer. Having said that I have just purchased a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 3, at £350. I will see how they get on.
As the tyres that I am reviewing have only lasted 12000 miles I am now having to face up to a regular annual replacement bill of at least £300 per year, and that is annoying.
I would never recommend these tyres to anybody that I know. They are simply rubbish.

“Continental Sport 2 Tyres ”

★★★★★

written by on 17/01/2010

Continental Sport 2 Tyres
I have a Passat Auto Estate November 55 plate, and was replaceing the front tyres every year (about every 10,000 miles). When I purchased the last set, I had them balanced by computer (elecronically), and this made an amazing difference with wear. I am about to replace the front two after approx 18000 miles (sorry dcn't have an exact figure).

These are probably the safest tyres I have ever had, so far as road holding and braking in all weather is concerned, and I can only recall 1 puncture. The downsides for me are, they are expensive and I would prefer a softer, quieter tyre. I could get a different brand, but prefer to stick to "the devil I know" .
So, spend a little extra and when you replace tyres make certain that they are properly tracked. Another tip, make certain that all four wheels are tracked each time you buy replacement tyre(s) it's a little more expensive, but you should save money in the long run, as I have!

I found the Contisport tyres by accident, and wouldn't fit anything else to my vehicle... I once had a rear blow out in the middle of nowhere due to a puncture, replaced the back pair at a local branch of a well known tyre fitters with Michelin tyres, only to notice the handling, grip, and noise were nowhere nears as good as the Conti's (which incidentally cost about £20 less per tyre)

★★★★★

written by on 10/09/2009

I drive a mixture of motorway and twisty country roads. I don't hang about and enjoy an active drive. Continental ContiSport are the best tyres I've used and i'm on my second lot. Yes, they have only lasted 10 months/12000 but they've got me safely home in some terrible weather conditions, stop the car when I ask them to quickly and don't leave me sliding across a wet road on a tight bend.

this really is rubbish talked about "premium tyres" being better than budget..

think people, manufacturers stir up "worry" to make you part with your hard earned.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! - KEEP YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKET NOT THEIRS

All western marketed tyres are manufactured to tight standards . they are all much of a muchness, tyre marketing departments aim to extract more $$$ from the "daft" crowd who think they know better !!!

Having Covered at Least 2,5000,000m Miles in Ford Cars using other makes these Continentals are incredible.
My present Ford Uses 225/50/ZR16 and although wear is lower than others the Road Grip and wet performance is second to no other.

written by on 02/03/2009

Well where do I start? These Continental ContiSport Contact 2 tyres have caused so many problems it's unreal. These tyres were fitted to the Transit Sportvan's as standard and we are in a dispute with Ford at the moment for fitting them as standard to these vans. They have premature tyre wear like you wouldn't believe, , I did well to get 8,000 miles. The average of the vans were only getting 5,000 miles, not good. I was led here as the link to this review was left on the forum that has many replies to this tyre (34 pages long) http://www.fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27719&p=373314#p373314

Come on Continental, think about the end user of these.

written by laurence 1 on 10/01/2009

The Continental ContiSport Contact 2 are quiet and good grip when new, both wet and dry, but very disappointed with poor wear despite frequent pressure and tracking checks, less than 15000 miles on a full set with not tracking faults or damaged sidewalls. Also seem to be a magnet for punctures with over 5 in 12 months.

Fitted 4 225.40.18s to Skoda VRS and fronts lasted around 12000 miles and rears now near limit at 15000.
