“This car is brilliant. I read many reviews about this...”

★★★★★

written by on 05/05/2010

This car is brilliant. I read many reviews about this car before deciding on it. There was a mixture of reviews and i began to feel nervous about my decision. However, a family member has the older shaped Micra and has always said how much she loved it. Micra's do have a reputation for reliability and so i decided to go for it. I am so glad i did. I got a fantastic deal. £4,295 for a Micra 06 Urbis 5dr 22,000 miles. The Urbis comes with aircon and parking sensors which are a great added extra. Inside the car, i have found it to be very spacious. I have made my boyfriend (around 5 foot 10) to sit in both the front and back of the car to check height room and he said it was great. I have actually had a full car of men this size and there was never an issue of room. There are a lot of little cubby holes throughout the car. For example, above the CD player, there is a drawer for your CD's, there is a takeaway hook by the passenger foot-well, there is a coin drawer and 4 cup holders (the 2 cup holders for the front seats also has a sunglasses tray!) There are switches by the drivers legs to open the boot and petrol cap which i have found to be great as you are not fumbling around with keys in the rain. In terms of boot size, i dont think it is particularly small although if this were the main family car and you had small children, it think it could be a bit of an issue. I would think you could get your buggy in their and a few bags, but i dont think it would be any good if you will need to be taking a lot of luggage with you (on holiday or something). However, i do think it would be a brilliant second family car. The car itself has a very sturdy feel and i feel very safe in her. I have driven around all week and havent even spent £10 in terms of fuel yet. This is incredible because in my previous car, i would have spent at lest double this. I have been in her none stop! If you are looking for something cheap to run, i would definitely consider this particular car. Car tax is about £125 per year, and i think i paid about £400 for fully comprehensive car insurance (i am 23 so my insurance is a little higher than if you are older than 25. However, this is with 6years no claims bonus). So all in all, i would say this car is a bargain. There seems to be some really good deals about in terms of simply buying the car and i believe the upkeep costs (tax, insurance, petrol etc) is relatively cheap too. I think if you were to test drive one, you will get a very good feeling from the car. The second i test drove the car i ended up buying, i felt very confident in my decision. She is everything i always wanted and am very very pleased i listed to the good rather than the bad online reviews!

I found this review very helpful because so many reviewers come to review a car because they've had a negative experience. You will never buy a car if your decision is based solely on reviews cos every car has a down side.

<br/>So this review is making me think - I am due to get this car at the weekend, lets hope I don't come back here to give a bad review.

Had my Nissan Micra 1.2S Auto since Feb '06 now done 11k miles. Not a single problem. Have not spent a penny on it other than 1st service £100 (not at Nissan franchised dealer). This is my seventh Micra, I bought my first in 1985 and change them when the warranty runs out, it won't be my last - never ever had a problem, none of the cars have ever been back to the dealers once in 23 years. Now British built - we should be proud!

“I have not come across any of the listed problems, but...”

★★★★★

I have not come across any of the listed problems, but only the benefits.

As mentioned, the boot isn't huge, but you don't buy a Nissan Micra sized car for a huge boot, and the sliding seats are a great help. With the seats down, room is on a high, and this little car makes a great van for runs to the tip.

As for light steering, it simply makes for an immensely practical town car. At high speeds it's less noticeable, with some body roll but reams of grip, and it makes parking a doddle. Being my first car, the lightness of the steering is likely to affect me less, yet it's a much more pleasent and easy drive than anything I've driven in the past (Admittadly only my instructor's Corsa whilst learning, an old 305, and old Astra, an OLD C15 van, a Defender and a JCB...).

Looks are a little dodgy, especially being a 17 year old new driver, but atleast its black, and its a car, it goes and it's safe, who cares what it looks like on the outside? YOu can't see it when you're driving...

Performance is great, far outranks the Corsa, but with many small cars the engine will always beg for another gear.

On the motorway it's swift and easy, and will outpace most competitors with ease. Great for overtaking, and great under emergency braking.

Overall, a cute, well equipped and practical little car!

May I suggest a sales job....for Nissan they are crying out for 17 years olds who will happily promote their poorly designed and poorly manufactured excuses for cars....or perhaps you already work for their customer sales????

“I recently bought one of these Nissan Micra 1.2s and...”

★★★★★

written by Gary62 on 11/11/2003

I recently bought one of these Nissan Micra 1.2s and have been most impressed by the drive and comfort. It drives well, feels very roomy inside and the fuel economy is excellent - the number one reason for buying it. It looks a 100 times better than the old shape. The S model I bought is fitted with a CD/Radio player and electric front windows. I didn't think I would get on with a Micra, but I must say I am pleasantly surprised.

Other than the steering feels a bit vague to begin with but it is something you get used to. The Micra has a similar turning circle as a London black cab - according to the spec, and this appears to be true.

If you want a reliable little car that performs well, delivers good fuel economy, looks great as well as drives nicely - then test drive this car.
