NISSAN MICRA TIMING CHAIN FAULT! THIS IS A MANUFACTURES FAULT THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF! I have had my 03 reg micra 2 1/2 years it is now in need of its second timing chain that cost near on £1000 I have had nothing but problems from the word go. In the process of going through complaints and not getting anywhere fast...no one wants to know or give me head office address or phone number! Can anyone post it on here?

This review is for a 5 door 58 plate 1.2 (80bhp) Acenta Automatic. I had this as a hire car for three weeks whilst my golf was being repaired following a minor prang, and I covered just less than 1000 miles during that time. I cannot comment on running costs like servicing and insurance but I can comment on what the vehicle is like to live with day to day and used in a variety of conditions including town commuting, motorway work, cross country and city driving.

I am not quite sure what Nissan ...

The Nissan Micra 1.2 S has good fuel consumption and is a good drive, comfortable, with plenty of room.

had the Nissan Micra 1.2 S 8 weeks when we found there was a recall on the ignition swicth, had that repaired days later all the lights would not stop flashing took it to dealer who said the bcm unit had broke and would cost £400 to repair. the dealer put it down to being "a old car with high milage" ( its a 2003 with 59000) miles! after complaing to dealers head office they agreed to pay £157 they had the car over a week and still waiting for it to be fixed to say i'm impressed wo ...

I have had a strong of problems with my 2003 Nissan Micra since I bought it. The windows 'drop' on occasion, leaving them wide open to burglars at night (!), the motor of my windscreen wiper broke ( £100-plus for repair), the catch on the petrol cap doesn't work, leaving it swinging open at all times, and the worst fault - by fair - the timing chain slackened - costing me and arm and a leg! Apparently this is a well know Micra fault, for which Nissan has produced a replacement kit. However ...

Good and roomy - my 6'1" hubby can drive it comfortably - something he struggled to do in the old shape one. I have found after sales to be good - dealer (who went out of business) gave me wrong hand book with wrong radio code! Another local Nissan dealer took radio out, and found the code for me free of charge - in fact they gave us a coffee whilst we waited.

Micra 1.2 S 55 plate. This is my wife's car and from her perspective its an easy to diver car and the use of internal space and external visibility is very good. Its light, agile, economical, cheap to insure and therefore ideal for a new driver.
The Nissan (Stockport) dealer was always accommodating and helpful. I found them better than the German dealerships I am familiar with.

Not a reliable car had 4 nissans in the family before a Primera and 3 older Micras they've been OK - disappointed with this one are Nissan going down hill? Having trouble with the door locks, drivers door lock replaced twice, passenger door lock once. They keep making a loud screeching noise. Had a new oxygen sensor (whatever that is) fitted. Only had it twelve months all above done under warranty.

Generally a useful and economical vehicle. My Nissan Micra 1.2S 53 has done over 40k miles with relatively few problems. Fuel consumption on non motorway urban/rural roads is in the order of 56 miles to gallon.

I have had this Nissan Micra 12s for 17 months now and up to now been happy with it and although I say this about the seats I find them comfortable enough I think all cars have some things good and some bad. I had a 106 Peugeot great running car but so cramped up in cab my knees used to touch steering wheel also very low, the Micra has nice driving position and somewhere to put your foot off the clutch. Easy to park and although a lot say the boot is small they must realize it is a Micra, after ...

The timing chain has stretched and the engine light has come on. The car can't be driven and the repair cost is 900+. The local garage say this is common-EVERY 20,000 MILES!

There are so many design faults on my car that it ' s hard to know where to start.
I can't turn the overdrive off, so the bloody thing goes on every time I turn on the engine. It gets turned on and off when my knee hits the button. I drive 99% in the city, but every time I get in the car I have to turn the thing off.
I cannot have a little air come out, because the setting only allows me to set it at off or low. The old Nissan Micra didn't do this.
The boot shelf is cheap, thin plastic, and it ...

Had my Nissan Micra 1.2S Auto since Feb '06 now done 11k miles. Not a single problem. Have not spent a penny on it other than 1st service £100 (not at Nissan franchised dealer). This is my seventh Micra, I bought my first in 1985 and change them when the warranty runs out, it won't be my last - never ever had a problem, none of the cars have ever been back to the dealers once in 23 years. Now British built - we should be proud!

Our Nissan Micra is a nippy, comfprtable and easy to control little supermini.
However the dials on the new model SVE are small and centred through steering wheel. They were much clearer (for the short sighted) when to left on screen. What a shame.... However, our one big gripe is that the rear parking sensors are so sensitive that they pick up rising ground behind the car and large 'pebbles' We're told this is standard and the car is doing its job ....very annoying....any comments?
    All in all t ...

Fixing the powersteering costs £720 (on a 17,000 mile, 4 year old car!)because the whole column has to come out and be replaced just so they can sort the electric motor the steering runs off. what a totally exhorbitant price for a small piece of kit - plus the RAC guy says he sees it all the time- now, I'm not suggesting it's a design fault but......it's a design fault and Nissan should be ashamed of themselves!
Great car apart from ridiculous repair costs.

A lovely small car that's far faster than you would expect, built very well and are good value for money. However you do need to have them fully serviced when stated, or you end up with running problems. Cheap to run and maintain.

When you take the Nissan Micra for service you must make sure you know what you are talking about. Having had experience with both Fiat and Volkswagen who can't seem to grasp the concept that you might know as much as they do.
I know make sure that I make plane what they are allowed to do (on say a service) is what I want, and not allow them too play with the car to there hearts content! Which usually means something will go wrong later.
As I get a new car every three years I run them in as o ...

I purchased my Nissan Micra 1.2 S in June 2004. Since then I have gone back to the garage several times. Problems; window's have been replaced 3 times due to squeaking noises, boot lock has been replaced 2 times. Power steering has been replaced once. The customer service poor in my opinion. I even wrote a letter of complaint! The courtesy car that give is half broken with bits falling apart. I would NEVER recommend to anyone to buy a Nissan.
