Good Points: Reliability has improved significantly over the past 9 months and I have had no problems in that timeNew domain renewal system is easy and effective
Bad Points: A few technical errors with the new billing portal, although they seem to have resolved
General comments: I have been using Hostroute for about 3 years, and whilst I had a few problems with server crashes about 18 months ago I have not had to contact technical support for over a year as everythign has been running smoothly and the speed has improved dramatically. They seemed to have some teething problems with the new billign portal but they seem to have been ironed out and i can now manage all my domains (purchased from Nameroute) within the one account and can renew with just a few clicks of the mouse.

I have been a host route customer for a few years now, I rely on the sites to run my business and also communicate with my family. I have caused a few problems but hostroute support have always managed to fix them quickly and when resorting to backups they have found my site in their backups from a month previous. My site hasn't been down for as long as I can remember, they aren't quite as competitively priced as others, but you get to deal with the same tech support staff day in day out and I am ...

Hostroute went from good - to bad - to awful over the past several years. At this point they are attempting to migrate accounts to a new system, having been bought by a much larger company. Billing is messed up, domains are locked and cannot be unlocked without submitting a ticket to the "Help Desk", communication, never great, is even worse than before. This is no longer a viable choice as a host - my advise would be to avoid Hostroute and choose another host carefully, reading user reviews.

We were with Host Route for several years, the service became worse as time went by. Our site was often down, technical support were slow and unhelpful. The cost stayed as it was (competitive in the beginning), yet they did not reduce the prices as time went on. I can only assume that their service was so poor that most of their customers left and they needed to produce the same profit from the customers that stayed?
All in all, avoid this company, it is not worth the hassle, you don`t get the ...

I ordered a reseller package with Hostroute, under the pretense that my hosting would be set up within a maximum of 8 hours. 2 days later, it was finally set up. The second nail in the coffin was that the day after, I was woken up by someone claiming that I had NOT PAID for my hosting and that my bank card had been declined. When I eventually tried to create a package to resell, I found that I couldn't. I queried this with the customer support "team", they told me that I would have to pay THREE ...

I would recommend that everyone spend a few more dollars if you have to and don't use Hostroute. It is just not worth the aggravation. Don't register through Tucows (which apparently markets its domain registration authority to other companies) unless you know they won't send you to Hostroute. These people have NO real tech support - every link on their site that says "contact us" just leads to another advertisement. I registered my domain with Tucows; I have my own DNS. Suddenly my domain came ...

Our site was hosted by Hostroute from 2004 until last week. During this period reliability went from good to very poor. We invariably had to tell the "Support Team" that the servers were down, they were not aware.
Initially hosted in the UK, our site was then movd to the eastern seaboard USA, where we once suffered a 48 hour outage when a truck took down a pylon carrying BOTH the optic fibre data lines and the power lines. No back-up systems available there.
In 2007 the site was moved back to ...

no phone support and Very..Very poor e-helpdesk support on my last major support problem (no remote access to MySQL) it took at least 5 support tickets just to convince them I actually had a problem with response times up to 4 hrs between tickets I lost an entire day just explaining the problem.

When I first used Hostroute, several years ago, support, although always by ticket, was quite fast and reasonably satisfactory, although they were never inclined to give me an explanation for issues. Over time, and most especially in the past 6+ months, things have really gone downhill. This week was too typical: I had a site issue with one of 20+ sites I am hosting on Hostroute. I begged and pleaded for help AND for a explanation, in order to avoid such problems in the future. I received neithe ...

Cheap but not cheerful. Hopeless support - uninterested in issues affecting cPanel which is not their own as many of you will know. An issue with using the WYSIWYG, which your clients may need, inserts non A-Z symbols into the page is a cPanel problem. Go to the cPanel web site forum and this has been long reported by other users. But they are happy to sit and wait until they do a fix was the inferred response from Hostroute when I told them one reason why I terminated my reseller account. The ...

I've had several web sites hosted with HostRoute for several years now. In the early days their service was incredibly good. In the last year or so it has gone so rapidly downhill that most of their services are bordering on unusable. Their web servers seem to be so heavily overloaded that they are very slow to respond and are frequently down (or appear to be down). Their e-mail servers suffer from serious problems that they are incapable of fixing. The e-mail service suffers from frequent outag ...

Ours and our clients email has been down for a whole week, with no sign of a resolution. Our clients are very annoyed. There are no telephone contact details for Hostroute web hosting either. They fob you off with tech speak and still their service does not work, despite them actually telling me that it does. I am considering contacting Trading Standards and making a formal complaint.

I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. I wished that I had found these reviews before I purchased the hosting. Staff at Hostroute often reply to messages half heartedly, not really explaining the problem.

I have been with this web hosting company for a year and a half, and for the last year it's been a very poor service.
For a period of about 3 months last year, the Hostroute servers were unavailable on an almost daily basis. I got so frustrated with support that I eventually wrote to their sales department, as it was the only other mail I had. I received a mail back claiming that it was ME to blame for the server going down all the time! An hour later I received a mail from support saying the ...

I have been with Hostroute Web Hosting for almost 1 year. In that time I have had nothing but problems with them. I was locked out of my website after I changed the password, and the system would not recognize either my new or old password. No access for almost 1 week. The webalizer stats were not being reported at all. It took them more then 3 weeks to fix the problem! Then a week later I stopped reporting again. Their response was that I should not use their system as it's unreliable. Great ...

I've been with Hostroute for more than 6 months. I was initially impressed, especially with the speed of support response. However, as time goes on, you realise that the number of times that you have to contact support is appalling, probably on average more than once a week.

I inherited a reseller account with HostRoute, and when I first saw the server specs I thought it looked pretty low spec. We've suffered regular downtime, and now loss of MySQL data, which HostRoute seem to know nothing about.
I would not recommend them based on our experience.

After my bad experiences with 4U Hosting, I did some extensive Googling to find an alternative. Hostroute's offer seemed excellent, and I couldn't find any bad comments about their service. I transfered my website to them, to find a library necessary for its running was missing. I put in a polite query as to whether we could have the library installed - this was late in the evening mind - and within 30 minutes they had replied that they were recompiling the system with the required library. By t ...
