This company use the most aggresive bill collecting methods I have never known in a utilities company - approx six weeks from bill issue date to court summons, rude staff who are obviously untrained in how to speak to people, complaints departments who decline to comment (????) I could go on and on.... unfortunately we have to use them for our water, but if are thinking about using them for your electric be very careful! (read more)

To cut a long story short, my father in law died last last year and I was tasked with sorting out his affairs. Virgin, Anchor Housing Association and - especially OVO (gas & electric)were all extremely hard to deal with; In fact Ovo is still c**king it up, even now - really dreadful... But UU was EXCELLENT! BURST WATER SUPPLY.
A FIELD ENGINEER CALLED AT MY PROPERTY TO INFORM ME THAT THEY SUSPECTED A LEAK
FROM THE COMMUNAL WATER PIPE AMONGST THE ADJACENT PROPERTIES(ROW OF TERRACED HOUSES)AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS THE WORKMEN CAME ALONG AND EXCAVATED THE BACK YARD ONLY TO REVEAL NO LEAK ON MY PIPE CONNECTION. United Utilities it is my worse nightmare, if I could change them, I would.
Customer service quite unconcern, their price has hit the roof , they reading was an estimated , they have send me , letters of fake solicitors, after I paid the bill they decided I own them £16 pound more.

Money for old rope in my opinion. United Utilities have done little to ensure my drains and sewers are adequately maintained or improved. (read more)

United Utilities for me is one of the worst utilities that I have dealt with. They sent me demands out to get me to contact them to sort out their mistakes! I found the call center unhelpful. (read more)

I hadn't received a bill in quite a while, and called them up to see what was going on. They advised me that someone called up to say that they were moving out of my flat, and that they cancelled my account. After a while of convincing them that i still lived in the property. I then received a bill through the post for over a grand. Needless to say i called them and they said that's how much i owed. I had a leak outside my house and the road flooded. United Utilities took over 3 months just to look at it. When I called their press office and told them I was going to take a picture and send it to the papers, they came round the next day. The problem was then fixed, although 3 weeks later. They really don't seem to care about leaks, and they give loads of excuses and offer no action. (read more)

My son had a major burst. A call to United Utilities produced a plumber within 20 minutes, and the repair was finished 10 minutes later.
In contrast, Norwich Union are still sitting on their backsides almost a week after the incident and have done NOTHING constructive. Their reps have failed to turn up twice. (read more)

I seem to have always been supplied by United Utilities for my water. I haven't had anything really to complain about except the price. The way the prices have been creeping up your would think it was Evian coming out out of my taps. Surely it must get cheaper and cheaper to supply water as the pipe networks have been made and watertreatment facilities built, and technology is improving. Can't they make it cheaper for us the consumer? I think they should, I know everyone uses more water... (read more)
