This was my first digital SLR camera - I'd used film SLRs before and digital compacts but couldn't afford the price of a new SLR, then I saw the EOS 20D on eBay and managed to get it for around £200. I very soon bought a zoom lens for it and have taken a few thousand photographs in the four years I've had it. I use it for motorsport photographs for my own enjoyment and for this I put the camera on a tripod and use a wireless remote. I've managed some very good photographs with this... (read more)

My EOS20D takes great pictures, though focusing wit a telephoto leans can be annoying. My problems is repair after repair after repair. Bought in March 2005 it had two repairs to the flash by the end of 2006. Little used in 2008 due to cancer operations repaired again in 2010, flash unit replaced. Now 2011 the camera will not switch on properly and another expensive repair would bring the overall cost up to the cost of anew body. Canon used to have a good reliability record, but not now. I have owned this camera for more than seven years and I purchased it second-hand and less than a year old, from a must-have-the-latest 'enthusiast'. For a keen amateur photographer like me it does everything I need and more. It's an all-round performer from high action sport to portraits. The only gripe I have is the amount of dirt the sensor picks up and it's a pain in the rectum to clean! An obvious statement but true: as long as you use good quality lens's (But they don't have to be... (read more)

Canon EOS 20D DSLR camera with a resolution of 8.2 Megapixels, the camera that gives very good results and capture a significant improvement compared to basic products before. Body Canon EOS 20D camera is made of magnesium alloy, with the form of a standard DSLR with Canon EF / EF-S lens mount and the LCD screen measuring 1.8 "to review the shoot. That is not the best lens, but I don ' t see it being worse than my kit lens, and the zoom range is WONDERFUL! my next lens will be the 50mm... (read more)

Following my first comments on the Canon EOS 20D digital SLR camera; after getting the repairs done I retested in the field (bird photography). The results show that this is a good camera, but it is still prone to focusing inaccuracies, however steadily the camera is held (big tripod, bean bag on ground, etc). Using a long lens is the hardest; it's all over the place compared with my film camera with a similar lens. All other results are excellent, showing what a good all purpose camera it... (read more)

I bought the Canon EOS 20D digital SLR camera to replace a Nikon zoom, and I was surprised when I turned the camera on. I could start taking pictures as soon as I flipped the on switch. The burst speed is super fast. Great ISO range with little noticeable noise at 800. A great camera for the photographer hobbyist. (read more)

If you're looking for a digital camera that is sure to help you keep up with--and surpass--the Joneses, Canon will deliver with its EOS 20D. This 8.2-megapixel digital camera has an amazing list of features that few other models can match.
Of course, most consumer-level photographers will never need the 3520x2344 maximum resolution (yielding prints approximately 16x24 inches in size) that the EOS 20D's 8.2-megapixel image sensor can deliver. However, the extremely high pixel count has other...

"Can you put a price on the ability to keep up with the Joneses?"

<br>Yes trinku - you said it - a high one!

I find it heavy and not that easy to use. Mine also had an irritating manufacturing fault and needed two new shutter elements as well as recalibration of the auto focus. I find it tends to be a bit soft on focus and needs the sharpen filter on Photoshop like a fish needs water! However that said, now that Canon have kindly fixed the faults free of charge I look forward to using the camera properly. More later when I've had a chance to test it thoroughly.

I am generally pleased with the Canon EOS 20D digital camera, but have not got the results I expected when using manual and creative modes, despite computer processing.
The 17-55mm lens it came with is okay, but by no means top quality. You need to buy more lenses if you are serious about this camera.
I am not impressed with the rubber cover for the USB and video links, as I think this could perish in time. The biggest problem however, seems to be dust on the sensor. I was disappointed to...

I have had the Canon EOS 20D digital camera for about 6 months now, and it is fantastic. It feels great in the hand, turns on instantly, and is very easy to understand, even for a semi novice. The pictures with my 28-135 have been outstanding in every way. Just remember to change the mode settings when doing portraits, landscapes, etc... The CF card is easy to remove and install. I have even done some great closeups in macro mode of insects and flowers. Now all I need is a 10-22mm... (read more)

The Canon EOS 20D 8.2MP Digital SLR Camera is the perfect EOS for advanced-amateurs and professionals alike. The EOS 20D sets new standards in its class. Featuring an all-new 8.2 MP CMOS Sensor, a second generation DIGIC II Image Processor, 5 fps performance for up to 23 consecutive frames, and a 0.2 second start-up time. The EOS 20D is designed to capture richly detailed, perfectly exposed images, with speed formerly found only in cameras several times the price. Other features include a... (read more)

This is, in my opinion, simply the best camera in the price range.
It is built in a robust metal casing and offers full access to the EOS suite of products (lenses, grips, flashes etc).
It's fast, and I mean fast with a 0.2s start-up time.
It gives flexibility for the advanced amateur to take full control, but can also be fully auto if preferred.
I have used the EOS 20D for sports action, portrait and landscape photography and found it copes with everything thrown at it.
The only slight...

I picked up my Canon EOS 20D Digital Camera off eBay for £800 and I don't think I could have got a better bargain. 8.2 Million Pixels, you can't complain at that really can you? If you really love your photography and have about a grand to spend you could do a lot worse. My only real gripe is the design, it looks a bit 80's, but it's not a major problem. (read more)
