My son had just got a full time job and decided to buy his dad a 16 inch tv for his Christmas to watch in the kitchen. It lasted 10 months. The colour went green then the picture went to half the size of the screen!!! Argos changed it but we had to upgrade to a 19 inch for another 30 pounds. This has just lasted 17 months . It would not move from standby. We phoned the Argos helpline who were very good but the tv only lasted another 10 minutes before the screen went green and blue then... (read more)

Bought a 19" Bush TV with DVD player. It was only to have in the kitchen to watch the news occasionally while making dinner. I've probably watched it a couple of dozen times. Now it's stuck on stand-by. I can't find my Argos receipt but I think it is just under a year old. Complete rubbish. Total waste of money I can ill afford as I have recently retired. I've given one star grudgingly as it would not let me proceed without putting it in. (read more)

Got my son a 22" bush tv for his bedroom for Christmas. It's now refusing to turn on and the Argos help line were far from helpful. As you can see by the date the tv lasted exactly 1 month and he only watches cartoons for half an hour while getting dressed for school and then he sits and watches films at the weekend on it. I doubt if its had 24 hours use and it's knackered. Total waste of time, money and obviously poor quality. I begrudge giving it 1 star to be honest as its not that good! (read more)

Similar to the review "TV lasted a month!"
I bought a Bush BTVD91216B in September 2012 from Argos, for my elderly mother.
This TV has not had 12 hours "viewing time"
Because she rarely watches tv, the defect was not properly identified until January 2013.
The red standby light in the middle of the bottom panel is on, but even by using the manual buttons on the top of the tv, I cannot get the tv to turn on. No channels whatsoever.
Having seen other reviews, this appears to be a common fault.
I will be taking this tv back to Argos for a refund, or change of tv.
NO STARS. Do NOT buy, even if you see it at a discounted price.

The reason the screen shifts is because Its called pixel shifting it stops static images permanetly burning onto the screen ( image Retention) by moving the picture around by a few pixels left right up down etc. You will notice some of the major brands IE samsung also use this technology.

Yes, but it's warranted for 6 years on a pro-rata basis, as are nearly all electrical goods. It's the law now. I used this law against Argos quite a few years ago and they refunded 75% of the cost of a Playstation 2 after 18 months because the laser had failed. They are fully aware of this law, as you will find if you write a letter of complaint to their head office quoting the law.
