I bought Worldwide travel insurance from GO and then decided to cancel and buy European cover at a later date. I had no problem - the original amount was credited to my account within 5 days and on receipt I purchased the European cover with them. The lady I spoke to on the phone was polite and helpful. My only gripe is that they only do Annual cover up to age 49 now instead of 64 as previously and the company they recommend is very expensive. For this reason alone I will be taking my... (read more)

I was sent a letter in November stating Go Travel Insurance would be renewing my Annual Travel insurance. I called straight away to inform them I did NOT want to renew. On 6th January 2012, 2 amounts were removed from by bank account. I called to explain this and 1 amount was subsequently replaced. This company should not be able to trade. In my opinion your policy now reads that if if there is a deision by the government, the aviation or any local council you policy is not valis this means volcanic ash, bad weather or strikes. So you are giving them money for nothing.
Do not use them.

Go Travel Insurance !!!!! Forget it !!! They should not be allowed to trade as suppliers of travel insurance ,Because there is no way that they will pay out on any claims !!!
I have tried to make two genuine claims ,both times they have come up with every trick in the book to ensure that my claims would not be paid.
It is disgraceful that they are allowed to carry on taking our money !!
I personally have reported them to the Financial Ombudsman ,and I am sure many ,many more people have done...

Go Travel Insurance proved to be a complete waste of money. They were most unhelpful when I telephoned them during the recent flight chaos. The android I spoke to insisted that their single trip travel insurance did not cover an 'Act of God' or the government's decision to close airports. Sadly, her scripted and well rehearsed statement did not include any sympathy for passengers stranded in Europe and in other parts of the world. Complete waste of time, spend hours on the phone (expensive number) and got nothing, they try every trick in the book not to pay up. The emergency number rang for 10 minutes before I got a recorded message saying our office hours are 8am to 5pm. This company should be closed down, they do nothing but take your money and then go and hide. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!! (read more)

Appalling company when it comes to service. Reasonably priced and efficient in selling the policy, but you try phoning them on their emergency numbers if anything goes wrong. The numbers do not work, the idiots the other end just say, sorry don't deal with these people and that is it. Not helpful when phoning from the other side of the globe and calls are very expensive.

They refused to pay out for a Nintendo DS as they classified it as computer equipment. What rubbish! It's an electronic game, something that a lot of people would take on a long flight to pass the time.
This insurance, for covering possessions at least, is not worth the paper you print it on!

It's impossible to get a refund from them. Everytime they have a reason according to the small prints. Rude people on the phone when claiming, but very friendly when purchasing the policy. I would recommend potential buyers to go for an insurance with their bank. It causes far less problems and they are much faster. (read more)

In my opinion an absolutely disgraseful company with terrible customer services and an appalling policy and cover. Check the small print before considering this company. They also charge you extra for obtaining a paper copy of your policy and do not allow you to start your cover on the date of your first trip-very disappointing! (read more)

Having only just started to regularly use travel insurance, my experience with GoTravel really sours my opinion of the industry. I'm still fighting GoTravel's rejection of a legitimate travel claim, and they use different reasons for their rejection each time I appeal. They've redirected me to different companies each time as well. Should you be unfortunate enough to need to claim, you're in for a tough time. (read more)

I have used Go Travel Insurance a few times now and although I have been fortunate enough not to make a claim the service I received means I will go back to them for all my future travel insurance needs.
The staff are freindly and helpful and the service is quick and efficient.
I definitely recommend them.

What's the point of writing a review of a product you've never used? If I didn't know any better, I'd think this review was written by someone at the insurance company. It's all very well buying a product - of course they'll be nice to you - what we really want to know is what happens when you make a claim!

I suspect the recent reviews are from members of staff working for GoTravelInsurance.
You can never get anything when you do need to make a claim. The insurance seems cheap, but you are not covered at all.

It is unfortunate you have had a bad experience with Go Travel, but I assure you I do not work for them! And infact since my first review I have had to make a claim as my flight from Amsterdam was cancelled and it was settled within 3 days of sending my form off. From MY personal experiences I still highly recommend them.

I disagree with this review as a policy review without the need to claim is completely useless. I have found this company to be the worst in my opinion of any companies I have previously used and have found it is almost impossible to make a claim. Lets hope this person will not need to claim in the future as I from my experience guess it will be fruitless.

I needed the cover fast as I had left it til the last minute to arrange cover. I called and spoke to a very friendly young lady who ensured me that covering this trip at the last minute would not be a problem. I have had travel insurance with Go Travel Insurance, I have medical conditions and they offered cover for them over the phone, the lady was extremely helpful, frendly and sympathetic. She really did her best to understand our needs and requirements, and being really honest about the policies she quoted me on, I would recommend them to anyone. She only wished to claim air fares a relatively small amount, to be told that grandmother was not included in their list of relatives. It is very easy to criticise an organisation on a website like this - there is a complaints procedure in the policy did you follow that? Surely the test of an organisation is also how quickly they respond and the way in which they respond when things don't go so well.

I had taken up an insurance policy with Go Travel UK. On returning from my holiday in TURKEY I had to make a claim due to a Hospital stay which cost 310 GBP. You may find out like i did that you will get no help from the ombusman as the insurance company thay use is based in the Irish republic and is not coverd by the UK Ombusman
