Good Points: Lightweight, compact and reliable. Simple to use. Extremely efficient - you'll not need to buy countless gas canisters.
Bad Points: The windshield is difficult to remove - I cut my fingers on the edges!
General comments: MSR have established a solid reputation for reliable, tried and tested equipment that can be easily serviced in the field without specialist knowledge.
I bought mine a few years ago to replace an ancient Coleman Deluxe Super-Bleuet stove which was older than me! I had never had MSR kit before and was quite surprised by the quality of the stove.
As a canister-mount stove, there is no need for technical knowledge to service it. Butane-propane stoves like this don't require cleaning as the fuel burns fully and cleanly and doesn't leave any residue to clog up pipes. And, as each MSR stove is burn-tested before leaving the factory (don't mistake signs of use as the stove being pre-owned!), there is almost no risk of the stove failing on a cold morning when you need that mug of coffee to start your day!
Another good thing is the size and weight. At 85g, you'll not go over budget on weight when backpacking - useful when every gram counts. And as a result, the size of this stove is very small. Mine lives inside a 800ml pot when not in use.
The stove also has a hard plastic case with it, just to help protect it. I tent to leave mine at home, simply for the weight saving.
This stove is brilliant and I never go camping without it.
