Good Points: Still the most entertaining car programme on TV.
Bad Points: Feels like it has been castrated.
General comments: I've come looking for a review centre for TopGear as I really think it's no longer the programme it once was. The show has become a big money spinner for the BBC and its presenters with world wide appeal. Since this happened, say the last series onwards, they tend to pick on one car for a few jokey comments on how rubbish it is, but say very little bad about anything else.JC has made his reptutation on speaking his mind and his forthright opinions. He still pretends to do this, but doesn't really. Would he make comments like he did about the Vectra anymore? Not on this show he wouldn't.Find myself reluctant to say this but 5th Gear is the more honest show, though still not as much fun to watch.Thank you for this opportunity to rant!

Some say that Top Gear is the best known TV show about cars in the world, and that there's a sunday night slot on BBC2 allocated to it. All we know is we love it!
I've been a fan of Top Gear for a long time now. I started watching not long after the White Stig became a member of the team (after Perry McCarthy left).
One of the things I like about Top Gear is that it isn't just a bunch of boring men talking about cars - they take the mickey out of anyone and everyone (but are well-meaning in thei ...- Read Tom H's review (229 words)

This is quite simply the best show on television in Britain today, and the rating figures definitely agree.
What is especially clever about this show is that by no means do you have to be a car fanatic to enjoy it. Therefore you have a car programme on tv which has astronomically higher ratings than Fifth Gear and any other car shows which haven't survived tv because normal people watch it as well as car anoraks.- Read rds1's review (76 words)

I love watching Top Gear (when it's on) and they test the cars that I love and the cars I know I'll never own. I think the driving could be better like Fifth Gear. They have Tiff and Jason Plato the touring car driver. Stig is not all he's cracked up to be and it takes quite a few gos to get a good lap time. I prefer the humor on Top Gear but 5th Gear tests cars that I might one day own.- Read Carlh's review (94 words and 2 comments)

Top Gear magazine will quite often contain stories, commentaries and amusing features rather than 100% Car reviews. The Car reviews that do appear are often short, unless they are reviewing a very fast sports models.
Quite often there is a free DVD or guidebook. What you do not get is the witty banter between presenters as seen on the TV. However you do get interesting and amusing articles about treks across the desert, pack-ice etc in a variety of usual and unusual vehicles.
Some of the feat ...- Read saltrampen2's review (157 words)

Top Gear has always been one of the top motoring shows on TV and the magazine is on par. I subscribed to it through www.magscriber.com as they had the best price I could find for the year. It includes reviews, buyer guides, and news, as well as great competitions.
It's the perfect read for anyone interested in the latest cars who's got an hour on the train home each day like me!- Read rich576's review (85 words)
