I bought this Sony VAIO PCG-K315S laptop brand new a good few (3+) years ago and it is still going strong. Battery life is down to about an hour now, but 98% of the time I use it on the mains supply so this is not an issue.

I recently thought of replacing it, but instead, upgraded the HDD (the 40Gb it came with was way to small) and ramped up the RAM - it is like a new laptop and saved me hundreds on the cost of a comparable new laptop.

    Excellent piece of kit.

It's a very good machine. It does everything I want it to. The graphics are very good, the three USB ports get a lot of use and are often in use at the same time. There has been no noticeable decline in battery life, and it has had a lot of use. My Sony laptop was expensive when I bought it, but it was bought for the graphic capabilities, and I would recommend it to anyone. On a final note, when the HD was replaced, it was easy due to the accessible compartment underneath.

have had everything go wrong with this computer, AC in has melted and had to be replaced, the day after the disk drive broke! By today's standards its heavy and slow, but to be fair its not a new computer. Battery has worn down to about 20 minutes of life, having said that I'm still using it. I don't know what it is but its doing something right?

The Sony PCG-K315S is a nice standard laptop. It isn't made for those who would use it a lot. It gets slow quickly, and warms up. Mine had to be re-booted 3-4 times in 14 months. The CD DRIVE is currently not working. Sony had repaired it, but it still needs to be sent back. John Lewis have been very helpful though, and I would recommend John Lewis to anyone.

The volume on my laptop is not that loud. It has caused many problems, but it is still my little baby. I love my laptop, but I would p ...

I got the Sony PCG-K315S laptop as a replacement for one which went dead on me. My old laptop was about 7 months old.
It was back and forth from the repair centre 5 times before getting this as a replacement.

All was going fine with the machine until about a month ago. I felt my leg was very very hot from under the laptop.
I had a look and the AC adapter end (the bit that goes into the laptop), and it had molten plastic around it.

As I write this now, it's back in the repair centre!! ...
