I have had this particualr system for 4 years now, it is my fourth technics hi fi system as I have continually purchased their midi systems from the early 80`s. it is still producing superb sound, i have now connected it to my 50" lcd tv and can now use the system to watch dvd through the 5 speaker surround sound system which gives a better experience of watching my favourite movies now. I don`t use the cassette decks anymore.but would have loved a turntable on this model as all other midis I had used the linear tracking tables, but I would recommend Technics to anyone choosing a midi hf fi system

The Technics SCDV290 is an excellent system. Have used it daily for over 3 years. Unfortunately produced prior to Blu Ray so can't play discs. Major drawback is lack of HDMI output. This means that playing a DVD is good not as good as it could be, irrespective of the quality of your V. My TV is HUGE with HD etc, however I can't play any DVDs in HD. Big disappointment but a great system just for tunes none the less.

I have had the Technics SCDV290 system for nearly 2 and a half years now and it works as good as the day I bought it. It is very powerful for its size many new mini systems have louder sound but most of them distort at loud volumes , however this Technics system never distorts it is always a clear enjoyable sound. The bass sound is nice and deep with a digital boost feature and there's a subwoofer out input in the back but i feel technics could of included an external subwoofer or an optional mo ...

Hifi and home cinema combined, gives a top sound quality. Overall, I recommend the Technics SCDV290, it's expensive but worth it.

This Hi-Fi in my opinion Rocks! It's easily as good as any expensive componant system I've ever heard of. Full bass and clear treble, just a wonderful natural sound that goes as loud as you can stand it! I'm tempted to buy a second one just incase mine stops working.

I have owned this system for 3 years and i use it at least an hour or 2 a day everyday, i have not gone without small problems tho. The dvd player is now faulty and needs repair (unknown reason). And both of the bass speaker cones have split on the edges due to extreme living on the edge volumes every single day for 3 years. I have since replaced the bass cones for dual 12inch ken wood car subs witch the system runs lovely and sounds pounding in the house (do be careful tho it is not advised to ...

The Technics SCDV290 is good, but only one little problem due to my mistake, I have misplaced my remote for the system and I don't know whom to complain to.

Overall, the Technics SCDV290 mini system is a well made, high quality system, and great for those who just don't have the time, money or patience to build a component based system. This system is great value for money. Just be careful using that Jog Wheel!
