I've been with LoveFilm for over a year now. I have the full package which includes the postal service and LoveFilm Instant for £10 a month. I actually received a 6month trial for christmas 2011 from amazon black friday for £13. The postal service is fantastic. ti decided 2 try the free trial. the cancellation process is utter rubbish. i tried cancelling b4 billing date but the system would not allow it then they cancel following many cancellation requests after billing me. thiefs. customer service was v unhelpful. am paying a months bill and not even using it. daylight robbery. what kind of company takes your money for a monthly subscription then if you cancel your payments for the next month basically block your service for the period you have paid for. don't be FOOLED by the offer to continue watching during the cancellation process as this just means you have NOT cancelled. Lovefilm instant had a decent choice of TV shows when I joined, although film choice was poor. Now all the TV shows I was interested in have been replaced by old British sitcoms and things that you could probably find for free on 4od. Just looked and in the last 3 months, 21 new films have become available with the vast proportion foreign or biographies. Sort it out Lovefilm or I, and a lot of other customers, will be leaving. Love Film instant is a very poor product. VERY POOR film selection unless you're brain dead and like watching ancient B movies. User interface for film search is also laborious and you can't resume watching if you come back to film at a later time / date. They could learn a lot from BBC IPlayer. You are reviewing INSTANT. You cannot review the entire LoveFilm service just based on INSTANT. The post option has a movie library that is MUCH bigger that what blockbuster had. In fact, with the games option, they even rent out over 500 ps2 and original XBOX games. Most of which you cannot find in any retail stores...

Seems like a good idea to be able to watch a film as the urge takes you instead of having to sit and draw up wish lists. Their streaming service is pretty average because I have got a 60" Plasma and also True HD Surround Sound system which I cannot make full use of when streaming as most of their movies are not HD and sound is only Dolby Digital (lossy). This puts me off streaming as well as their limited choice of films. Netflix is better for streaming as they have many films that actually play in 720p hd, however, their film choice is even less than Lovefilm. The post service is pretty good but their turn... I managed to watch 3 hours of a series one day, then kept getting error message 'please try again later'. I emailled their customer support and got a stock cut and paste reply suggesting I update Silverlight. My silverlight is up to date, the service just does not provide. Avoid any offers, try it for one month for free to know your self how worthless it is. Library is very small and mainly old movies. What is weird is some films are available to order as a DVD but not watch online :) My favourite experience with this garbage service is i was streaming a movie and i couldn't finish on the day, two days later it was taken off the online streaming list. If you're looking for a game rental service, avoid LoveFilm. They have a "priority list" which means absolutely nothing. I added 4 games and set 'Black Ops 2' to the highest priority. Instead, I received two low priority games which used up my 2-disc allowance for the month. There was no guarantee I'd ever receive my top priority games and no estimated time for how long I'd be waiting. Completely useless. The actual renting of dvd's is quick and efficient and the selection is pretty good but Lovefilm instant is dire, there's not much choice and there is always streaming/buffering issues even though I have very fast broadband with no streaming problems on any other platform. Get Now TV by Sky instead, no posting back and forth and great streaming. (read more)

The range is so poor, I usually find there's more on tv and usually more recent films too. every month i check the new releases and feel disappointed so it's going this month! I have love film on my ipad, and when I want to watch a film, I want to watch it there and then, so I thought love film instant would be good. Unfortunately most of the films that I wanted to watch, you can only rent by post!! How annoying is that!! Will not be renewing until there are more watch now options. When you go to cancel your subscription, note that you have to click through three or four pages. The third page is very similar to the main homepage, and the confirm cancellation button is positioned way off the screen. If you don't receive an email confirmation, it's not cancelled. (read more)

Great, I love it. Love film is so easy and simple to use and has never let me down. Films are sent home quickly and the instant version is excelent as well, great quality even on my terrible internet and they are excelent if watched on a big screan, however they do not have a large variety of films on instant so I would suggest by post aswell, however it is still great value for money there is always something to watch for every mood and every one. I use lovefilm for dvds and for streaming and find the service to be very good, I receive dvd's very promptly and although the streaming service has a limited selection, for the price I am paying, I find it very good value. I have a kindle fire hd and although my broadband bandwidth is low, I get excellent picture quality from the streaming service. (read more)

I started with Tesco DVD rental at just under £11 a month. They were pretty good for hard to find films. We like foreign films, some of which you cannot even buy. However Lovefilm took over the Tesco accounts, which they were running anyway. I got a price drop of over a pound and a lightly better selection of movies. Ive been with lovefilm now for just over a year and it has saved me a fortune in buying dvds and bluerays. Its nice to have a collection but most of the time they end up being rubbish and never watched again. I pay £9.99 per month for two discs at a time and online viewing. I have just signed up to love film instant on the free trail now that you can stream through the Wii but the whole thing has been a complete waste of time as I cant access anything as everything is only available to active subscribers( what ever that is as I thought I was)
I have subscribed to Netflix for the last 12 months (only because my mother was ill and had to live with me for a while and she likes the old films) but from the moment the details were in the computer I had it all set up on my iphone pc and TV with no trouble at all !! Incredibly exasperating - before lovefilm took over sofa cinema it was a good service: now they dont send films out, there are problems booking them and i seem to spend as much time trying to get help as I do watching the movies. I've (re)signed up for the DVD by post service. Instead of you being able to choose what you want, you're supposed to have a list where you prioritise what you'd like to have sent to you. This appears to be a pretence - what actually happens is they send you whatever is *their* priority. Ive has love film for a while now. And I thought it would get better. I often watch things through my xbox if there is nothing on sky etc. All the films on the list are very bad. Films I have never even heard of and are simply terrible and embarrassing to watch. Also the buffering of videos is very poor. No matter how good your internet may be it wont work properly. Yes, they are all smiles to your face then when you have a problem they are no where to be seen. Somebody 'Jeni', which I guess is there generic letter signature, just waffles on and doesn't answer your questions. I got the confirmation screen, and since have not used the service once.. However, I have been paying for this service for 10months! The only way to do so would be to send them a legally worded letter initially explaining why you believe they have fraudulently obtained funds from your account.
Be polite and research your rights first... .but ultimately if you can't get them to agree to a refund you could try talking to your bank / card company about it. If that fails your only other recourse would be to take it to a small claims court.
I'm no solicitor though, so you should seek legal advice before pursuing it.

I received no email confirmation, could not login or be reminded a "my mysteriously Forgotten password". so I thought the account was not properly registered therefore perhaps IT IS invalid and so did not bother trying again or contacting them; 45 days later, loveFilm started collecting money from my account! Having reviewed some of the titles that have been viewed on your
LOVEFiLM account, the IP address used to stream all of the titles that have been viewed appears to be the same. However, this is not the IP address that you have provided for us.
With regards to processing refunds on your account, there are two issues
here. Firstly, it appears that when you attempted to cancel on the
website, the cancellation was not confirmed. This means that your
account remained active and subject to billing as usual. Technically these charges would therefore be valid and non-refundable and any refund would be as a gesture of goodwill.
The complicating factor here is the fact that so much service has been
used. As a number of titles have been watched between you attempting to cancel your account on 03/07/2012 and 06/11/2012 when the last film was watched on your account. As the service has been used consistently since you tried to cancel your account, unfortunately, we would not be able to refund any payments to you as service has been used. As you have
reported that this use recorded on your account was not you, this would mean that your details have been used fraudulently. Again, this means that we would not be able to refund you directly for this service time.
As the merchant party, we cannot be held responsible for fraudulent transactions. I therefore kindly ask that you contact your bank so that they can look into this and can pursue refunds on your behalf where appropriate. To prevent any further unauthorised use of your account, I have blocked the account from reactivation so any attempt to reactivate the account would have to be approved.
I am sorry for any disappointment caused by this matter and apologise that we cannot do any more to help you with this. Of course we will be happy to assist your bank with any enquiries that they may have. if we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

when you cancel you can say I want to keep watching - if you do and don't cancel then they take money the next month too!!!!
so the whole cancel process is a massive and very DELIBERATE rip off. this really does show the measure of the company.
they deliberately don't make this whole cancelation process clear and I'm certain they have r i p p e d off many many people this way.
Lovefilm - I hope you go broke!
