Good Points: Initially a great service two to three years ago, but now with lots of competition, is far too expensive for me.
Bad Points: Technical help at 50p per minute. They sent us down to our local tesco to buy another installation disc (after being with them for 2 years). They refused to send us another modem, which then proved impossible to buy elsewhere it seems, hence the reason why we left and went to fabulous o2.
General comments: Technical support at 50p per minute was very poor on 2 occasions in my opinion. Other competitors such as o2 offer FREE technical support. We were given the completely wrong advice, and sent to our local Tesco store to buy another installation disc (which we argued we did not need but the assistant insisted we did). So off we trailed down to Tesco to get it, and guess what, we didn't need it. Despite complaining I never heard anything back from Tesco. We did in fact need a new modem as there was a hardware failure with modem wire, If only they had replaced it, we would have stayed with Tesco.

Bearing in mind the amount of competition there now is in the broadband market surely Tesco.net should be improving their download speeds in relation to the monthly charge. Does anyone know if Tesco plan to make any improvements as I'm seriously considering jumping ship and joining O2 and save myself £10 in the process.

I share my wireless broadband conection with 3 computers in the house and the speed is fine. I do a lot of downloading and of course with the 'finest' package, downloads are unlimited and they will always upgrade you to the fastest speed available at no extra cost. They also give you the wireless router free of charge.
18 months ago when we first signed up i thought for this package £24.99 month was a bargain but now competition is hot and i think this is quite expensive.

I've had Tesco Broadband 1mb [unlimited] for over 2 years and am very pleased with the package. The Installation was straightforward, the Download/Upload speed is excellent and I've never had a problem with the Connection.
I cannot comment on Tech Support, because I've never had to contact them.
I've had to phone the Customer Care line [local rate call] on several occasions to update personal details etc, and they were very efficient.

I have had no internet access for more than two weeks and Tesco have left me completely in the dark. Twice, their staff have not been correct as to when the service would be restored

I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy broadband from them. It is slow 9 times out of 10 and i find it is mostly impossible to watch things like youtube smoothly.

I upgraded my package to receive 5mbps but actually ended up with a slower speed than what I started with. They adjusted my direct debit straight away and for 3 days told me to go to different speed test sites, and then ended up blaming BT. How could that be when my broadband was ok in the first place. This is absolutely true - nobody thought to actually tweak my service to allow the extra mbps through. I now only have 2.2mbps but will suffer until my 12 months is up, then leave very quickly!

After reading some of the opinions on here a lot of the problems are down to BT lines (especially if your connection keeps dropping out at certain times or weather conditions), the speedtouch usb modem can also cause problems with it being usb (usb devices are prone to locking your pc up, try using an ethernet modem), I've been with tesco for 3 years, had problems when first connected line used to drop out at 9 am, reported this to tesco, NTL called me same day and passed fault to BT. Very impressed with tesco.net (not.com) service and always have been. The one occasion we had to phone Tesco (local call number) for help as the broadband status line (free call) said service was down, were very helpful and spoke in english so presuming call center was actually based in UK. Thanks to tesco.net and I look forward to remaining a customer for many more years to come.

It seems that as Tesco have pulled in more punters they tighten up on the connection speeds at peak times. My connection drops as low as half a meg even though I should be getting 2 megs. My previous ISP who supplied me with 1 meg never had this issue. I would be on 1 meg solid 24/7 You can see why they are so cheap. I'll definitely be reviewing my contract when it runs out. I would advise against anyone signing up with Tesco.

I never had any problems until just before christmas when I switched to the 'Finest' package and the connection is almost non existent and when it is there it is nowhere near the speed I should be getting. It never normally tops 1 meg. According to BT the line should be capable of approx 4 meg. I have phoned a couple of times and they just say the same as most of the other comments here and just blame BT. I thought that my contract was with Tesco and not BT so why are they not willing to sort ...

Unhlelpful customer service, they blame everyhting on BT. They wont take any responsibility for their own flaws in their service, speeds are getting slower and slower.
Dont use Tesco.net as an ISP in my opinion.

Been with Tesco Broadband for 2 years GREAT!
Always online, 1.9 mb i thing some of you may not know that im on the 2MB capped internet. However when I phoned up Tesco they told me they do not actally have the equipment to measure how much you are downloading therefore cannot tell and do not actally cap your internet.
I must have gone way way over the download amount but have never experienced reduced speeds.
Also Tesco DO NOT have a fair useage policy meaning you can download when ever. ...

Have been with Tescos for 3 years, 2 years on 512 kbps and 1 on 1mg. Recently their billing seemed to have screwed up my account and disconnected me for 4 hours. Since reconnection have had speeds of 56kbps on average for a fortnight and the tech people I spoke to appear to blame everybody but their system. Be very afraid, when its good its good. When its bad its absolutely dreadful. And at 50p per minute for them to fix there issues, caused by there poor routing, I'd had enough.
Also £19.95 for 1mb unlimited is a dreadful price, compared to £7.50 with O2 for 8meg unlimted. Even at the full price its £17.50.
Also comes with 100 days money back promise and free technical support line.
Shop around it makes sense!

Ok, provided nothing goes wrong. However in my case they were very unwilling to help me. Can't wait for my 12 month contract to be up so I can go do a decent provider. They make promises but never keep them. Have waited 10 days for a replacement disc, I have phoned 3 times and every time I have been assured that it is being sent and should be with me within a couple of days. Probably the worst costumer service I have ever come across.

Tesco Broadband is reliable. I'm only on half a meg, but that speed is maintained at about 490Mb. You get what you pay for!

I have been on the uncapped 512Mb option with Tesco Broadband for several years now. Recently I have been concerned that I have been paying over the odds for this service, but I am coming to the conclusion that it is not nearly as poor as I had thought. Reading the many reviews of other ISP's recently, as I have looked for an alternative, probably with a phone bundle, suggests that in this case you get what you pay for, and it may actually be worth staying.
