We moved house early January this year and decided to go with Tesco for our broadband and calls because it seemed like a good deal and we have been loyal customers for years. BIG MISTAKE. We contacted Tesco some weeks before the moving date so that we would be all set up when we moved which was important as we need it for work. Was with tesco but moved to BT due to faster speeds and better price, needed a MAC code so got in touch with tesco. After 2 MONTHS i got one of a guy who worked there who even said himself nobody who works there knows what they are doing. So sorted got the code thats it i can leave......... After really slow download speeds for months. Tescos are just not interested. It's like banging your head on the wall . They show no interest at all. I would not reccomend Tesco broadband to my worst enemy. I would not recommend Tesco BB to anyone, they have quite simply put me through hell and back. Its now been over 7 weeks since I switched from a flawless Sky connection (my reason was cost issues - I have now learnt the hard way if it aint broke don't fix it!!) A series of useless calls to the tesco helpline, more like plastic monkeys reading off a display screen. Tesco landline and broadband might be the cheapest - that's what attracted me - but it's true that you get what you pay for. It was installed and both phone and broadband worked fine (with the odd hiccup on broadband) for 3 whole days. Then it went down and there followed a month of no phone or broadband, many many phonecalls to Tesco, a different response each time, 'The line will be fixed within 48 hours' (and it wasn't), 'Someone will call you back' (and no one did) until finally someone... I don't know why everyone had so many issues. When I signed upto Tesco was informed of my start date and they kept to there word and only had half hour downtime. Only spoke to customer but they were helpful. I had to ditch their awful routers (Thomson TGN585) it was keep on needing a reboot, so bought a Netgear and not had any issues. I've had no downtime only thing they could improve is the upload speeds as I only get 0.75mbps but download speeds is 13mbps. I will continue to use Tesco... (read more)

This internet connection is great when it actually works. It could work fine for hours before asking you for a username and password which stops you doing what you were in the middle of then 5 minutes later it works fine. Other times its every 5 minutes working then not. I have rang up the helpline who told me all i needed to do was to reset the modem at the back to fix the problem. I have recently left working for Tesco Broadband as it is a shambles of an operation. I won't go into why working there was so bad as that's another story that you're not interested in. I thought I'd enlighten some of you wy you have the issues you have. If you have a fault this is then checked out by a 'First Line Tech Agent' and if still not solved this is passed to a smaller division called 'Second Line' - these people are incredible poor. when I first started working there the time... Seems like I'm not the only one to experience problems with Tesco broadband. No live connection, impossible to get through to the 'home' call centre which is kind of a blessing because they are useless when you do. I initally chose tesco as it was £7 a month cheaper than sky. My live date was the 7th Feb and for 8 days following that I had no internet connection and no use of my landline. I had to make several calls to the call centre where I was on hold for up to 42mins on my mobile, only to speak to unhelpful staff, asking generic questions over and over again. I have this exact same problem, my 1st bill has just been taken from my account by direct debit for a service I'm not even receiving!!! Tried to call Tesco at 7.55pm, says they're open until 10pm but the automated message says their office are closed! Wish I had never swapped over to them, Talktalk were a dream compared to these! Absolutely useless the lot of them. It's not Tesco running the show it's Cable & Wireless who are B2B and couldn't give a flying toss about consumers. I had to call up the day I was supposed to be connected to find out if I would be receiving a router and maybe a password? They had forgotten to send it. tesco hardly have an involvement what so ever as capita/vertex are the out sourcing company for tesco broadband, think they are based in manchester but was in liverpool they moved as they where failing miserably, 5 minutes before the end of there shifts they will palm you off with a pin hole reset on the router knowing that it is the network with the fault, about 2 in 10 of the technical staff have some genuine tech knowledge the rest wing it, fact is they offer you a low price, because you pay cheap you get a cheap service. they tesco offered this contract to the company that would do it for the cheapest (vertex/capita), and the network that would do it for the cheapest (cable and wireless), remember all the failed broadband we dot here now Pipex, bulldogg ect all failed C&W companies

I signed up to Tesco Broadband and Homephone on the 15th December 2012, and was told I would receive confirmation of an engineer visit via text. I received nothing over the Christmas period, and so I called Customer services in early January to see if anything was happening, and was told nothing yet. cheap as chips but they upped the price twice in 12 months even though am on a fixed contract. service keeps going down and wifi isn't very good either. Used first opportunity to get away though I can't see any of my bills online including my final bill though that does not stop my direct debit going out. I have been waiting for connection since December 9th 2012 when the contract was entered into. They never attempted to use the fresh MAc code, it expired. I had stupidly neglected to do my homework before I signed over my details to Tesco Broadband, and was suckered in by cheap monthly cost and offers of clubcard points. Actual connection speed isn't even close to the estimated speed and that's when it connects - below 1mps on Saturday evening (est. 10mps+) I'm resetting the router at least every hour. To make matters worse I can't get through to technical support - on hold for ever. I am so let down by Tesco Broadband. I have lost count of how many times I have had to call them. Inital issues were lack of wifi connections so they sent out a new router. Then the issue came back again and at times we had not internet or it was incredibly slow. Engineers were meant to come out and they never did. Signed up for Tesco's BB & Home phone and got a 'go-live' date. As the router wasn't there 3 days before then, I rang to check on the progress. Stupidly slow at first - couldnt even load youtube or facebook properly. BBC iplayer would time out..... Almost left in 3 days. Called help desk (20min wait) and they fixed the issue straight away...now hitting 10+mbps.... YEAH! For the price (about £5 cheaper than anyone else with the deal) cannot complain!! Just moved into a new flat, which isn't connected to the BT exchange. Tesco sent an engineer to install a phone line for free (and he arrived when they said he would), sent the router and welcome pack on time, activated the line within a couple of hours of the engineer leaving. I've phoned customer services and they've picked up on the second ring. Websites load quickly. Got a discount on the package because I'm a tesco mobile customer and also received clubcard points. Took Tesco broadband 2 months ago after 6 months of really poor service from O2. Now every Saturday and Sunday night, my service stops. I Can't download You tube clips, let alone a movie from Netflix. I have now canceled my Netflix account after 4 months without seeing a single movie and I still have to wait 10 month before I can get rid of them. Worse internet I have ever had. After it was installed it was just too unbearably slow that I cancelled it a couple of days later. I'm now stuck on the phone and have been for the past half an hour because they have charged me for the full month even though it was cancelled after 2 days. Switched to tesco broadband before i saw the reviews. Big mistake! Slower service than dial up technical support may be in this country but they don't have a clue. Paying 16 quid a month on special offer, getting 14mbps download (actual speed), evening and weekend calls and line rental, and 35 quid cash back on Quidco. Transfer was seamless although O2 were a little awkward about us leaving. Activation email arrived a little late but by then I was already up and running. I don't know how they do it so cheaply! We had enough of sky and switched to Tesco phone and broadband. They cancelled our Sky service on the 28th May. It's now the 8th June, and we still have no phone service. Broadband works fine. We've called on numerous occasions, and have spoken to people who don't seem to have a clue. I switched to them, didn't expect the earth but the service was just totally unuseable. During the weekend and evenings there would be disconnects every 10-20 mins, downloads were slower than my old provider and you could not watch youtube for it stopping eveyr 10 seconds. I live in London on an LLU Exchnage and have previously used O2 and Sky with not problems, getting 20mbit...tesco claimed this but could only deliver 13mbit. Have read most of the reviews on here and can recognise a lot of the problems. Hi, having exactly the same problems, it defaults to the page asking for the user name and password when you loose connection, then the red light usually comes on on the modem, it will fix itself without resetting the modem , must admit i am getting fed up too, the help line seems to come up with all sorts of excuses without fixing it, would be interested if other people are having the same problems ?
