Have been with Tesco Broadband since the start (upgraded from dialup)- maybe 10 years- and have had a reliable service throughout- including when moving house. We're on the £17.99 package and always have been. This is pricey in view of current offerings and it is never faster than 512kbps. However, my compamny pays some of the cost and the speed is fine for general internet and email work.We have 3-4 laptops on the system and while not fast- speed is adequate. Reliability is vital for me working from home and Tesco is reliable. We don't do online gaming- iplayer or much video stuff - which is all slow- but not an issue. However, I do think it's about time Tesco reduced it's prices!

Speed is consistent with Tesco Broadband. I originally paid for 1Mb, got 550k. Upgraded to 2.2Mb. got 550k. Tried helpline, got "music" . Tried email, got auto reply cant open attachments " there WERE no attachments. Tried helpline. got" music".Trying CANCELLING DIRECT DEBIT. the rating forces me to give service one star. Sorry about the error. It really gets NONE.

I switched to Tesco broadband from old fashioned dial-up about 5 years ago and I only have one complaint-the price.£13 for the slower 500kb and £18 for 1mb broadband only is very steep, for an extra £2 the Post Office can offer broadband/home phone which is why I'm switching. The cost aside,Tesco broadband is very good and reliable.1mb might seem slow but it's just as fast as my dad's 8mb with Sky.You have 15 e-mail addresses and free anti-virus(when I joined) and the set up is e ...

ive been with tesco broadband since the start. if you can ever think of a reason why you would need to contact them, dont join em. the time my eyebrows caught fire was a less painfull, more pleasurable and constructive experience. been dealing with hell from them for almost a year. no one says the same thing, or it seems the truth. dont bother complaining, they dont care. ive been over charged for months, and now my mac code wont appear, and i cant cancel. avoid if you enjoy life, if you wish to ...

Just had a problem with my broadband, download dropped to 128k phoned Tesco and had to carry out a 1000001 test then they said 128k was ok and they will not be doing anything (tesco is now run by virginmedia and not ntl) had a big argument and asked for the cancelations department, explained why i wanted a mac code cause thing didnt work and amazingly they put me through to sumone who took notice and the problem that they said didnt exist 10 mins earlier was fixed same day, anyway after that exp ...

Tried to cancel Tesco Broadband and move to another provider. Disaster, staff have always been friendly but have been told so many incorrect things, and cancelled the service once only to find charges still appearing. Cancelled again, will have to wait and see if this is sucessful. MAC codes given over on at least 8 occasions that our new provider could not use. Caught between a rock and a hard place. 2 months + to resolve
Tesco offer lots of services - Jack of all trades, master of none?

Phoned Tesco Broadband tech dept 2 day re problems.. bloke says all OK at his end. Says that modem supplied years ago is still OK 2 use! Despite I read on this site they are obselete. I have a Buffalo router that has been ok to date, then guy says it might be my Norton security that's causing problems, I suppose it might even be the piece of cheese in the fridge that has gone off! I've been with them for nearly 4 years, very poor show.

I was very happy with Tesco Broadband even though it was proving to be more expensive than other ISPs. Then in December 08 they 'upgraded the service' this has proven to be a disaster, the service I get now (when I can get it) is similar to the old 'dial up' system only slower.I contacted Tesco's technial help dept (Still being charged at 50p per min) and they sent me some new discs which did nothing to solve the problem. I was told that all new customers have a new modem and that the old 'speed ...

No problems with connections since joining five years ago.

Since Tesco made system modifications / updates in December, I have been unable to connect to the net.
Attempts by tech support, a new modem have failed. Promised callbacks have failed to materialise (five in all).
I have been off the internet from 18th December 2008

Now looking for compensation and a new provider.

Had Tesco Broadband for 4 years with no problems at all. Have recently been shopping around but reading the reviews I will be sticking with what has been reliable - reliability is worth not saving a couple of quid.

With competition from O2, what used to be a good deal is now very old I feel. How can they compete with 7.50 a month for unlimited 8meg? The speed is not really enough for most things like youtube or even browsing quickly whilst downloading. They've got to step up their game in my opinion. Good points include it being generally quite reliable and I've had no issues with them, downloading almost 24/7 for a month or two. So the "unlimited" part is true for me anyway. All in all, it used to be good ...

Technical support at 50p per minute was very poor on 2 occasions in my opinion. Other competitors such as o2 offer FREE technical support. We were given the completely wrong advice, and sent to our local Tesco store to buy another installation disc (which we argued we did not need but the assistant insisted we did). So off we trailed down to Tesco to get it, and guess what, we didn't need it. Despite complaining I never heard anything back from Tesco. We did in fact need a new modem as there was ...

Bearing in mind the amount of competition there now is in the broadband market surely Tesco.net should be improving their download speeds in relation to the monthly charge. Does anyone know if Tesco plan to make any improvements as I'm seriously considering jumping ship and joining O2 and save myself £10 in the process.

I share my wireless broadband conection with 3 computers in the house and the speed is fine. I do a lot of downloading and of course with the 'finest' package, downloads are unlimited and they will always upgrade you to the fastest speed available at no extra cost. They also give you the wireless router free of charge.
18 months ago when we first signed up i thought for this package £24.99 month was a bargain but now competition is hot and i think this is quite expensive.
    However, after ...

I've had Tesco Broadband 1mb [unlimited] for over 2 years and am very pleased with the package. The Installation was straightforward, the Download/Upload speed is excellent and I've never had a problem with the Connection.
I cannot comment on Tech Support, because I've never had to contact them.
I've had to phone the Customer Care line [local rate call] on several occasions to update personal details etc, and they were very efficient.
I'm very pleased with Tesco Broadband and would recommend the ...

I upgraded my package to receive 5mbps but actually ended up with a slower speed than what I started with. They adjusted my direct debit straight away and for 3 days told me to go to different speed test sites, and then ended up blaming BT. How could that be when my broadband was ok in the first place. This is absolutely true - nobody thought to actually tweak my service to allow the extra mbps through. I now only have 2.2mbps but will suffer until my 12 months is up, then leave very quickly!

After reading some of the opinions on here a lot of the problems are down to BT lines (especially if your connection keeps dropping out at certain times or weather conditions), the speedtouch usb modem can also cause problems with it being usb (usb devices are prone to locking your pc up, try using an ethernet modem), I've been with tesco for 3 years, had problems when first connected line used to drop out at 9 am, reported this to tesco, NTL called me same day and passed fault to BT. BT enginee ...
