Good Points: Cheap Price, Celeron Heatsink is compatible
Bad Points: getting a little old
General comments: I bought my PC with a 2Ghz Celeron CPU and it was fine for basic things like Encarta, Word etc. When I started to see my new PC as something more that a workstation, I discovered that the Celeron had nowhere near enough grunt to play games at a decent level. Games like Max Payne 2 and Call of Duty (which I spent good money on) were virtually unplayable due to the slideshow framrates, even with my new Radeon 9600 plugged in. I bought my Intel Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz for £75 from an online retailer called PC Nextday and funnily enough, it arrived the next day. I popped it into the hole left by my Celeron and the old heatsink fitted perfectly. Upon starting up the machine, I instantly saw an improvemnt in performance - even windows seemed smother and quicker somehow. The games were instantly more playable, with the settings all defaulting to 'high.' Now I can play the newest games with no trouble whatsoever. Recommended.

If a 400 MHz FSB was sufficient for a 1.5 GHz P4, it is clearly limited for 2.0GHz and faster CPUs. That?s why Intel engineers have boosted the front side bus of the Pentium 4 to 533 MHz.
