Isle Of Wight, Southland Camping Park

my family have spent many happy years at southland so when the caravan club took over you can imagine how upset we was cant believe we will never be able to go there again as we own a tent i think the caravan club as spoilt this lovely site but i would love to thank viv for the wonderful holidays we had there over the years

First visit in 2007 was excellent, lovely place, well maintained and polite staff. Pitch booked so we knew where we were located.

Booked again for 2009 late in 2007 and arranged two pitches side by side, convinced friends to come with us.

Then the caravan club took over, tried to charge us a non-member fee, refused to send out confirmation of total cost after they had taken over. When I arrived with booking confirmation, reception informed me my holiday was cancelled three weeks earlier (took 24 hours to find that info though) Refused us the side by side pitches we booked, is now first come, first served. One receptionist struck my car for turning around outside the office. Tents are no longer allowed on the site as it is caraven club members only. Wifi facility that was listed was not available also.

The site itself is lovely with great facilities, but the organisation has ruined it for me, wouldn't go back even if they allowed our tent.

Children were allowed to play though, and dogs were allowed.

In short, a lovely site ruined by poor organisation by the caravan club.

Lovely family pub within walking distance.

Stayed there a great many times over the last few years and found it a site that lives up to my expectations. Can only get better now that it is Caravan Club

Southland Camping Park, Isle of Wight was a fantastic site. It had everything you could possibly need or want - including a pub within walking distance. We used it for many years and indeed look forward to our annual visit each and every year. Sadly, it has now fallen into the clutches of The Caravan Club and if you are not a member, consider yourself excluded!

Everything about this site is just spot on. I have been going to this site on and off for the last 7 years. Firstly with my wife and now my wife and children. this is a quiet and very friendly site and child friendly. FANTASTIC. JUST A FANTASTIC SITE NOTHING ELSE CAN BE SAID I WILL BE RETURNING AGAIN THIS YEAR.

The campsite has a great feel, friendly owner, been 3 times, consistently high standards.

This is the second time we've camped at Southland Camping Park and will return again and again! We have 3 young children and all of us have really enjoyed the wholesome atmosphere this site creates. With great facilities and pleasant owners and staff we have had 2 great holidays here. I have no problem in recommending this site to anybody particularly families.

We have just returned from our 5th annual holiday at Southlands. Once again we received a great welcome and had a fantastic time. The site is beatifully maintained; the facilities are second to none and the staff could not be more friendly or helpful. No problem is too large for them to assist with, even with the loss of both our car and caravan on our journey there! I would not hesitate to recommend this site to friends. It is not a loud noisy site suitable for yobs, more a small friendly family site that we are happy for our children to explore unaccompanied. There are rules, but that is what makes it the excellent site is it.

This was our 4th year at Southlands and can't recommend strongly enough to anyone else considering a camping/touring holiday. The site is immaculately kept from the pitches to the toilets and showers. We have had a pitch very close to the children's play area for the past 2 years as we have 2 children (aged 5 & 7) and have never found this to be a problem as the area is rightly cleared at 9pm. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful in every sense and we look forward to returning in 2008.

The site is kid friendly, of course there will always be children who either lack discipline or have never been taught good manners by their parents. Who may need the odd reminder from staff or other guests to be considerate of others.
