Good Points: The staff are very fiendly and customer aware. My trainer has knowledge of training and the equipment I should be using.

Bad Points: a little on the pricey side but we have a family ticket so it works out a little under £20 each per month.

General comments: I find that my Total Fitness Gym is clean and frendly. There is always ready access to machines and the atmosphere is very good. Lets face it, us fatties need to motivate ourselves somehow.

I have been a member of Total Fitness in Liverpool for a little over a year now, and I have found the staff to be helpful and the facilities to be perfect for my needs. While it is true that you can get some serious gym bunnies in the gym, there are also plenty of part-timers like me who are just there to keep fit.

I joined the Total Fitness Prenton gym a year ago. It seemed ok then but it has become very run down. Whoever cleans appears to just brush dust and bits into corners. The padding on the equipment has split and this can rub on your arms and legs when working out. The water bottle holders on the equipment are full of dust and bits of bottle tops (even chewy) etc. I used the pool area for the first time recently and the hydrotherapy pool was too cool to stay in for long. The whole pool area wa ...

Total Fitness is great if you have kids between 3 & over as they can play while you train & there's good free classes for them too. I've been a member of several gyms over past 10yrs including David Lloyd, Fitness First & Esporta and I think this seems really dirty in comparison, am sick of complaining about it to staff.

I have been a member of Total Fitness for several years and yes like the rest of the people commenting on their performance I have been very critical of them but then if you look at reviews for other clubs Total Fitness comes out very well. That ' s not to say we don't want improvements. This last year they made a huge investment in the Bolton Gym and I have to say its much better but its always those niggling things like the steam room or hydrotherapy pool not working sometimes, cold shower ...

I've been a member of Total Fitness for maybe 5 or more years now, first at Walkden and latterly at Wakefield. I've also used their gyms at Preston, Stafford and Huddersfield. There is a good deal of variation between branches. Walkden was one of the first and was looking tired by the time I last used it (in mid 2007), though it may have had a makeover in that time for all I know. Wakefield is not too bad, though there are persistent problems with some of the studio equipment, such as the head m ...

I have left now (although they have kept taking my monthly payments) as I discovered that the council gyms have much more up to date equipment and cost a fraction of the price.

Not value for money - they don't have much that a council run gym doesn't have. Meat heads would leave lockers with their own personal locks on 24/7 and come into the Edge lane gym only to get stuff out of their lockers, then leave the building and repeat this behaviour 2 or 3 times an hour until management were forced to take the locks off lockers after a police inquiry. Exercise machines, steam room, solarium and other equipement would break and they would take ages to fix them. Staff didn't s ...

Unhelpful Medical Director who promised the earth but did nothing from what have seen. The gym is clean but there is no proper access for disabled people, and there are no poolside changing facilities for disbled people.

Management need more clout and more cash or staf to solve the problems.Onw spin class of 40 potential riders could not accomodate the quantity due to bikes not being serviced. Many members complaining but managers or owners not prepared to take action quick enough.

Total Fitness is a great place for rehabilitation. Their 3 pools are excellent. Hydrotherapy is great for pain management and has saved me a fortune in physiotherapy bills. Good saunas, steam room etc too. Gym is spacious and never have to wait for machines. Staff friendly but not in your face. They do have to wait for people to come from England to fix Irish gyms. I still give them top marks though. Of all the gyms I've been a member of this is the only one I've renewed - I'm in my third year ...

I like going to this gym (Total Fitness - Prenton) as it is large and has lots of equipment, so it rarely gets too busy. On the down side, is the high level of broken equipment, general cleanliness, poor induction and plan, and if you are intimidated by gym bunny meat heads, this might not be the place for you, there's many of them.

The old unprotected padding, free weights used in Whitefield, needs to be desperate updated with what ' s out now on the market, as they damage your hands and fingers for weeks " health and safety should be notified

I joined the Liverpool Edge Lane gym and paid for a year in advance. The general state of the place was pretty disgraceful and half the equipment did not work and the meathead in the gym always left the freeweights on the floor. Despite bringing this to the attention of management this continued until i lost pationes and went elswhere despite having 8 months paid up membership left.

I have been a member of Total fitness in bramhall stockport for about 4 years. At first I was happy but over the last 2 years standards have dropped especially the hygiene. I always thought the use of sweat towels was mandatory but now a good 60% of gym users never bring or use them ..I tried to complain to the manager but he just wasnt interested and all he did was fob me off with pathetic excuses

The gym I'm referring to is Lancaster, I'm I a nasty SOD for writing the above? , No I'm a patient respectful guy, I train at least 4 times per week and have been doing for the last two years, never late with my monthly payment of £42.50 per month. God help you if you forget your entrance pass more than three times,No entry will be granted, no negotiation, you either pay £5.00 entrance fee or pay for a new pass. Its not all bad, the gym at Preston, is very clean, friendly staff and ...

Ive been a member of total fitness preston a short time now. But overall i am very happy with the place as a whole, It never seems to busy as it is so big and there are plenty of apparatus to go around. The changing rooms, Showers and pool are all impeccably tidy. And the trainer who set my programme up i found to be helpful and very knowledgeable.

I have used many different gyms over the years from private to council run. And the Total Fitness in Stoke offers a good allround facilities. Compared to some gyms in the area i would say it comes across as professional and clean, which is always a good starting point. I can't really comment on the staff or their experience, skills or knowledge as i tend to train on my own and get on with my own thing. The Membership Consultant was very friendly and went through contracts and everything in a ver ...
