Good Points: Compact size, but big enough. 6 window display shows all key parameters simultaneously. Direct entry of desired speed setting, rather than having to keep pressing up/down buttons. 2 user program memories and flexibility to set target(s) for time/distance/calories etc. Well laid out display and controls.

Bad Points: Heart rate control programs control only incline, not speed. Only 2 speed controlled programs, one is at walking speeds and the other at slow jogs. Instructions are limited.

General comments: Judging by the instructions and the preset programs, Trimline T315 is targeted at the walking market rather than runners. However, you can create your own programs and would soon get bored with the presets on any machine. I was nearly persuaded to buy the more expensive T335, on the basis that the running surface on the T315 was too small for a tall user. In fact the T315 is fine for me (6ft 2ins) and the T335 would have been too large for the room. The T315 has much the same controls and features as the T335. My only criticism would be the HRC programs, which only control incline. Again this is probably because a walker walks at a fairly constant pace, so incline is the main parameter. However a runner's speed is the main determinant of heart rate. You can achieve the same effect by monitoring your heart rate and adjusting your speed manually. Overall I really like this machine - it has all the features I want and has a good feel to it
