I received a call from Hays after applying for a job online. The guy seemed nice, said he had seen my CV, they had already filled the position I was applying for, but a firm I had previously worked for were looking for someone. He then had me chasing my tail all day, calling every half hour, getting me to tweak this and that on my CV until it was the way he wanted it, and finally said he had 30 minutes to get mine and another two CVs round to the Office Manager at the firm concerned, as they... I have worked for Hays in the past...I was made redundant around 6 months ago...I thought that if I resigned with them that they would help me find temporary/permanent employment so that my bills can be made...after being registered with them for around 3 months I kept seeing jobs advertised on seek and mycareer that I am qualified and experienced to do...when I asked my Consultant why I was not being put up for these positions, I was told that they were too busy to ring people and that it was up to me to find their advertised jobs and contact them in regards to being put forward for the prospective position...I've worked in temp jobs for various agencies over the last 23 years and have never experienced this laxidasical approach to help prospective employees - I have since tried to apply for jobs advertised by Hays and have had no response as whether I've even been considered for the position - do they really have jobs to give people - or does it just look good that they are advertising jobs and it's really good for their statistics to have candidates on their database...How does this help me - I am still jobless - I still have bills coming in - how am I supposed to support myself when there are agencies like Hays that don't give a damn about their Candidates - meanwhile I'm getting further into debt - tell me how this is a lucky Country (tell me when I can have job security, be out of debt and actually be able to start to live my life without the added stress of no employment) I know everyone is worse off than me - what happens when I'm homeless and declare bankrupt???

I know exactly what you are going through. I just dont understand how they play with your emotions and they say they will come back to you with feedback. They never do and rarely do they offer you a position even though they keep saying they will have something coming through this week next week whenever. They are so cruel. I am exactlfy in your situation at the moment, and all I keep thinking about Xmas and how I will be paying my next bill. I know I am a good worker, loyal and will go that extra mile for my job. I am never given a chance to show and I do not know what the next step is. I do not like calling them as they make me feel like a needy and annoying person. I wish they were regulated so I could go and voice my opinion to a government department so some action would be taken agains these scam agencies. In fact I think the government has put them out there on purpose since they disposed job hunting from centrelink. So all those fake jobs the agencies post on SEEK make the government look good in unemployment statistics. THE JOBS DO NOT EXIST, they are just fishing for your cv and your referees in order for them to extract work connections through your referees so they could earn their commission. I hope you have been successsful in your recent hunt for a job. As I understand the frustration and the disappointment you are going through.
