This little car is simply amazing. The drive, the reliability and the comfort are all outstanding. 50-70 MPG on all journeys is remarkable, considering the power available. The Fabia vRS is also extremely practical. There's loads of leg room, tons of boot space and having 5 doors means it's suitable for carrying family or friends. It's very difficult to find fault with this car, considering the great value for money it offers, particularly when compared to its class rivals. I am one... (read more)

furby 1.9 tdi vrs - uses the excelletn vw 1.9tdi 130bhp engine and chucks it into a light weight body. They look good and handle very well. I have owend this for 2 years and the performance is excelletn but the build quality lacking.. Plus points: cheap to run and tax, mpg i get is easily 58 looks sublte yet will leave many sporty cars i the shade 0-60 is ok but in gear acceleration using 3,4,5 gears is AMAZING and close to that of serious sports cars. Bad Points: BE WARNED: if buying... (read more)

I've never been a badge-snob so was very keen on the Skoda Fabia vRS when in first appeared in 2003. I was smitten and bought a brand-new Black-Magic vRS in Sept 2004 and was astounded!! There hasn't been a small car since that offers this amazing blend of value, performance, economy and practicality. Its understated but brutish appearance is perfectly to my taste and despite working in the car design and manufacturing industry (and experiencing many other cars from many different... (read more)

I have driven all kinds of cars and have been a long term Audi fan. My wife has had three Octavia TDi's, all of them faultless as main family car. However, I have given up my beloved 4 rings for a Fabia VRS 1.9TDi Special Edition and I am gobsmacked! I cannot get my head round what a superb car this is. Even with the special paint, leather interior and all the gadgets, it's still pretty understated. I know many people still can't see past the badge but those days are long gone. The 1.9TDi... Not a day goes by without me smiling in this car! My other car is an MX5 and the VRS knocks spots off it! It goes like grease lightning and I still get 550 mls to tank and 58mpg. Up and down the M5 M42 eating up the miles and the acceleration still blows me away after 4 yrs.Apart from tyres ,oil ,cam belt there have been no trips to the garage at all. Having been familiar with vw's tdi engined company cars for many years,i was looking for a vehicle on a budget that had similar performance as golf gti/focus 1.9tdci. I purchased a black fabia vrs with 19000 miles from a car supermarket and found it a fantastic allrounder , hot hatch, tourer, family, city car all in one. With minimalist styling and no tacky body kits (vrx/st's/evo's) i would recommend this car to anybody no matter what age. Great value for money, couldn't find any other car... (read more)

Got my Skoda Fabia VRS last March so had it just over a year, the car looks great and shifts pretty well too having gone from a 300bhp Astra GSI Turbo, got a house so it was cheap motoring but still with the smile factor, the Fabia stepped up to this challenge and i wouldnt change it for the world, well, unless they released a 300bhp rally replica!!! Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9 TDI PD is nippy and economical. I'm struggling to find bad points - its going to be something pedantic, Thats all there will be, its just possible that they missed a stitch in the seating. Its in an area that no one can see. Car is quick on acceleration. 4 doors are a plus if comparing to another hot-hatch where 2 doors can be a pain. Car can be chipped to improve acceleration but not top speed (told by chip people). General servicing can be DIY, apart from tuning and resetting service light. Engine oil type is critical, if not sure ask Skoda or top respected garage. (read more)

Great car! I previously owned the Honda Civic 1.7 CDTi and after the experience i'd pick the Skoda equivalent every time! I have had 2 Fabia vRS's now, a 2003 model when it first came out and now a 2007 special edition. I can say the performance, it is without doubt excellent. The reason why the Fabia vRs got such a bad write up when it came out in 2003 was basically it was still fashionable to poke fun at Skoda and the concept of putting a diesel into a hot hatch was too much for most people to understand; however a lot has changed since then and most manufactures now offer a "hot" diesel car and like it or not... I bought my Fabia vRS new in August '05 and have covered 25,000 trouble free miles since then. The excellent 1.9 PD TDi engine has never let me down and it is quite refined over long distances. You do get a fair bit of diesel clatter about town though, but this is forgivable as the engine is so strong once on the open road. Cabin storage space is quite good once you discover all of the storage shelves and compartments and with the rear seats folded it has impressive and easy to load luggage... (read more)

We test drove one from a main dealer and wondered if it was going to be all that we had read about. It drove like a tame cat through town, although you could feel that it wanted to get up and get out of there. Once we got on the open road, it simply flew, every single thing written was true, and then some. Hang on, it's a great ride and you will grin from ear to ear every time you drive it. Contrary to one of your other reviews who said you cannot have leather now, you can. I had it fitted and with my Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9 TDI PD being red and the black leather as a contrast, it looks fantastic. Value for money is really good! I would recommend a Skoda vRS all day long. Overall the Skoda Fabia vRS is an excellent economical very fast car. Price new, street's ahead of VW and a-little of SEAT for that 130bhp engine. Possibility to increase an already fast car by getting it chipped out, etc. Being a 5 door is a bonus as most sport's car's are only 3 door. BUY ONE.!! (read more)

I've had the Skoda Fabia now for nearly five months and have done 9500 miles. I tend to drive quite a bit and wanted a decent diesel car which would handle the miles. And that's excatly what the car does and so much more. For the price you'd be very very hard pushed to find anything as tooled up as the Fabia Vrs, such a great price for such a solid little car. I had to get it in black as it looks the business and any other colour just wouldn't have been the same. When it's clean and waxed it... (read more)

Do yourself a favour this weekend and book a test drive of the Skoda Fabia VRS. I can guarantee that you will be totally surprised at this car. For the price you would find it hard to beat. It has lots of the usual bits and bobs you find on new cars these days, and nothing too fancy that just puts the price up.
I test drove one in summer 05 and had my own in Dec 05.
FANTASTIC is the best word for it.

I have owned the Skoda Fabia from new and was very impressed with it overall. I have made a few changes as this car is based on Volkswagen, seat engineering it is easily modified. I have tuned the engine to over 200 bhp with 370 lbs/ft of torque the car looks no different but scares everyone at the traffic lights which never gets tired!!! The car is great fun handling wise it was good but with a decent suspension setup its now awsome. MPG has been increased slightly due to the torque. ... (read more)

The Skoda Fabia a truly brilliant car. Much bigger in character inside than it would appear, it performs on all fronts being quick (particularly mid-range) yet frugal (50+mpg easily achievable) and supremely confortable. In short it is the 'rational consumers' choice having 5 doors, ABS disc brakes all round, aircon, sports seats and RDS CD radio and being very easy on the pocket whilst always providing a smile. The torque from the diesel engine makes this car a pleasure to drive in the real... (read more)

The more reviews and forums I read, the more impressed I became.

Economy is up to 68mpg when driven gently on a run.
I find the comfort first class and the build quality is 100%. This car weighs almost the same as a laguna. Enough said.

The Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9 TDI PD is an amazing little car. I've only had the pleasure of it for a week and what a week it's been. I'm only revving my vRS to 3000rpm while running in, even so, it really flies, you just ride a wave of torque from around 1500rpm, it would give many a sports car driver quite a shock when they come up behind this little beauty. After having the Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9 TDI PD car for about 5 months now, it has realy suprised me as to what this small hatch can achive.
The power output from the engine is fantastic and it has great acceleration through the gears, (many an impatient BMW owner has been blown away).
The turbo reaches the boost pressure at a low 1900rpm so it's like being hit by a wrecking ball up the back.
Standard spec for the car is top notch and I would advise people to go and test drive one before... (read more)

At £12,250 the Skoda Fabia vRS 1.9 TDI PD is the best value 'hot hatch' on the market today. With values at around 55mpg despite having a 130bhp engine and 310nm of torque this little beauty really flies at around 2,000 revs when the turbocharger kicks in. Add to this sports suspension, 16 inch alloys, green brake calipers, stainless steel sports exhaust, vRS trim bucket seats, air con, cd player and sports bodykit this car is irresistable. (read more)
