i have just had a lovely camping experience at watergate bay touring park, we booked the sight then read the reviews after booking but as we were going without family (just two without the kids)we weren't to worried.
i have to say it is overall one of the best sights we have camped on over the years, the staff were excellent, not just a few but all of them, from the reception to the bar and the cleaning. the planes did fly over but were no problem. the pitch sizes were great and were all marked out, which i have rarely seen before. the club was lovely, it did have bingo one night which i don't like but i do understand that we all have to be catered for. i liked the fact i could hire cool blocks and recharge my mobile in reception. the only thing i found pricey was the charge of the electric box in wash/shower room which was 40p for 5-6 minutes. the washing up room was also excellent and not ouside. it was a great experience and i can't wait to take the kids

We have been coming to Watergate bay for five years now. It is a great site the children love it. As for other reports saying they were not made to feel welcome, i find it the complete opposite they could not make you more welcome, nothing is too much trouble. It may get a bit muddy at times but no one can help the british weather.- Read karley5190's review (66 words)

I've been travelling to Watergate Bay Park for many years now and can honestly say that its superb. I note the complaints about mud from some other reviewers but I have to say " what do you expect " , its a grass site so when it rains it can get muddy , so would anywhere !. It doesnt get that bad , honestly. The site gets improved every year with little changes that might only be noticed by the regular visitors. For 2009 they are working on a new shop and cafe , building work was well underway ...- Read Guest's review (229 words)

Fields A, B, C and some of E are good pitches. 10-15 minute walk to perhaps the best beach (home of TV series 'Echo Beach) in Cornwall or 2 minute drive. Security on the site is fairly good, with guards walking around at night and having vehicle recognition cameras for entry on to the site. Tennis courts. Dog walking area. Not enough tar mac roads on site, it was raining most of the time we were there and the roads are like Glastonbury (Mud, mud glorious mud!!!!). In the main toilet block there ...- Read bbbert's review (158 words)

Good point, the only camp site near Watergate Bay. Bad points, the dreadful bar and noise from the entertainment, horrible big motor homes parked next to the tents, the noise from the planes flying over. Loud and busy, nerve jangling. I wouldn't recommend this campsite to anyone!- Read Guest's review (47 words)

Good points for Watergate Bay touring park is its close to the nicest beach near Newquay. The general atmosphere wasn't enjoyable at all, didn't feel welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The campsite was very uncomfortable with bog standard facilities. I have stayed at other campsites in the area in previous years but thought I would try something different, was very disappointed and will not be returning. A beautiful beach, the cafe with takeaway meals is a must visit- Read Guest's review (84 words)

If we had been fully explained when we booked how far away the outer field was we would never have one there. Outer field is 10 minute walk to main field and this was not explained when we booked therefore kids very disappointed they could not go and play in playground when they wanted to. Aircraft noisy. Club too rammed and if you don't get a seat at 6 you wont get one, pool too packed and cold, no security gates on outer field.- Read nattytab's review (86 words)

Watergate Bay was first introduced to us by our friends. This will be our fourth year down there, myself and my family can't wait. Our friends are also coming. We have such a fantastic time the children get so exited. The site is well run, Gwen and Brian and all the staff are very friendly. There are a lot of aircraft that fly over but that doesn't bother us. Anyone looking for a good safe family holiday, with plenty to do surrounding the campsite, this is the place to come. I cant wait.- Read margaretg's review (147 words)

As a campsite I agree with the previous reviews regarding Watergate Bay Touring Park. It's a great site, although I usually prefer something less formal and regimented, but out of season it seemed easy and laid back enough. That might change with more caravans and children later in the year. The far fields are sunny though. They are exposed, but why has no-one mentioned the aircraft?! There is a military airfield not far away, and they were testing engines or something until nearly 2am one night ...- Read rybah's review (192 words)

Everything about Watergate Bay Touring Park site is perfect apart from if you are in a tent you are a bit too close to other campers/caravans and you can hear them talking at night. The bar is excellent and drinks are not over priced. Food bar open until 11pm and food is good. Very clean camp site. Booked for next year.- Read chaddy1889's review (89 words)

I've been back to Watergate Bay Touring Park on a number of occasions because of its location to beautiful beaches and the surf shops of Newquay. I have been with both a large group of young people and as a couple, and on every visit the staff were pleasant and accommodating. The showers/toilets etc are acceptable and well stocked although maybe the showers lack somewhere dry to change! I've had little need to use the other facilities on site other than the shop. I found this to be adequately st ...- Read johughes's review (129 words)

Watergate Bay Touring Park is a family run site in a very good location on the hill above Watergate Bay and as such gets a lot of sun on good days but also gets a breeze which keeps it fresh. I have been going for a lot of years and have watched as the facilities have improved year on year. I find that the Club which includes the Games room and Bar are now very comfortable and has entertainment during the season.- Read chunkyman's review (91 words)

Watergate Bay Touring Park is not too bad for the money spent, The facilities were quite good despite the games room, with electric points on site (although there were ques in the morning), washing machines, dryer, rooms for washing up, showers, an out-door pool( no heating though), a pub, a playground and a dog-walking field. Bear in mind prices will be quite extortionate during peak time.
The beaches in the local area are quite amazing with little caves, cliffs and excellent climbable rocks.
