Good Points: Sound: VERY good sound! An excellent amp for coffeehouse gigs.

Presence: Fills the space around it very well. Blends pleasantly with acoustic instruments, such as pianos, guitars, or theater pit ensembles.

Portability: It weighs under 16 pounds, and would fit in a big backpack!

EQ: 3-band. I easily found my setting, and there was plenty left on the knobs if I'd wanted more of anything.

Connectivity: Stereo tape inputs and outputs, plus a headphone out for silent practice.

Appearance: A nice, dressy-looking retro design.

Bad Points: I wish you could get a cover for it, and I wish the handle was a bit more substantial. I haven't had any problems, these are just minor concerns.

General comments: Great, portable sound for practice or low-volume acoustic gigs!

The Behringer Thunderbird BX108 blends superbly in acoustic settings. I've used it with classical and steel-stringed guitarists, pianists, and small theater pit ensembles. People often comment on how natural it sounds. The secret, I think, is the smaller (8") speaker and the rear-ported cab. (A 15, no matter how low you set the volume, is moving so much air that it tends to dominate the space around it and bleed into other instruments' mics.)

I've also used it in the studio, miked, to add a little "air" to my direct signal.

I originally bought this as a backup for my beloved SWR LA8, which has been my main "little" amp these last few years. I was very surprised to find that the Behringer sounds every bit as good as the LA8 - especially considering the price difference!
