I am in the middle of a claim with Halifax for an item of Jewellery that I have lost. The company they contract with is called LMG and they are awful.... Made me feel like a criminal. I have had home insurance for 15 years and this is my 1st claim. Its now in the 9th week of faffing about. I have supplied them with all the requested information and still no joy. When I phoned halifax to complain re LMG, they had no apology to make for LMG rudeness and then proceeded to be extremely rude themselves with no understanding of my complaint .....nor the willingness to try to understand. In a nutshell, Halifax and LMG are both employing staff who dont give a damm about their customers......I suppose if you pay peanuts, only monkeys will work for you!

After having cover with Halifax for nearly 20 years without ever having made a claim, in March 2008 two different pipes leading from our private water supply (a well) to our house burst on a very frosty night (-6 degrees). Halifax, (once they understood that people actually still HAVE private water supplies as they are not anywhere near the mains) sent out an assessor. He wandered up and down the pipeline for a few minutes, looked at the ground where the pipes lay and went away. Halifax refused ...

I made a claim with Halifax Home Insurance in April 2009 for a carpet which was damaged.I have accidental damage cover on my policy for contents. The room is open plan (living/dining and staircase) and the staining occurred on the stairs. Halifax sent out an independent inspector to view the spoiled carpet.I thought I would be reimbursed for the cost of having the carpet professionally cleaned, however the inspector said that cleaning wouldn't solve the problem and calculated the replacement cost ...

When I consulted an independent insurance broker, I was horrified as to the limited cover provided by the Halifax home insurancey policy. There was a £250 escape of water excess and a £100 general excess on my policy. But worse than that is that there was an overall total limit on valuables of only £5,000. When the broker pointed out to me the definition of valuables within their policy, it included computers, televisions, video and audio equipment, photograpic equipment, ...

I recently made a claim for a burglary with Halifax. After calling to make halifax aware the next day a claims person came round to check what had being stolen and have a chat about the claim and check police reports.. He was very friendly and efficient throughout this time, after a week I was given vouchers to replace all the items which had being stolen. I was very happy with the fast and efficient service and will definitely be renewing my insurance despite not being the cheapest insurer. At ...

If I want to waste £400 on home insurance cover I would rather burn my money than pay Halifax to cover me!
I took out a policy with Sainsbury's and have been covered with them for 3 years.
Got broke into (a walk in where keys were stolen, and they returned to clear me out!).
August bank holiday I found stuff had gone, and no sign of entry. I called the police who indicated that I had had bogus water board people around whom had nicked my keys and this had happened a lot in the area.
    I cou ...

We were burgled whilkst away on holiday on 17th augsut 2008, it was reported to the police that day by people who were looking after our animals for us and we came home the day after and started the claim process with the halifax. It was 2 weeks later that a 'loss adjustor' came to our home and interrogated me. 2 weeks after that because we had not heard amnything I rang to be told that our claim was still being investigated and he had done background checks on us like we were the criminal - wh ...

Had been with Halifax home insurance for 6 years. When I finally claimed there were no questions asked, small print get outs or paper work hell. Awesome.

I feel the negative reviews are totally unfair. I lost my phone and glasses and some cash on the way to the airport. I just rang up and within five minutes the refund was processed through to my bank account. No quibbles as I was covered under the Personal Belongings Protection. (I had been a customer for 6 years and never claimed however).

The channel that runs down the roof sprung a leak, called emergency 24 cover they sent someone out the next day but he was a decorator and thought he'd been sent to look at a flat roof, 2 days later on a sunday someone from the same company came at 5pm and said it was too late to look at it but got us to sign to say they had been. On the Monday someone else from another roof company came and actually went on the roof and did a temp patch, said they would be back in a few days, today thursday a s ...

We had our shed broken into 3 times in 1 week. Approx £1000 worth of goods stolen.

Halifax use a company called Aquilo to validate your claim. Every time I phoned them it was like an interrogation and they made ME feel like a criminal.

They said they can not pay out unless:
    a) I had receipts - yeah right, who keeps receipts?
    b) I had manuals - they were in a toolbox in the shed (stolen)
    c) They asked if I had any photographs of my husband using the equipment - WHAT??????

    I would advis ...

My house got flooded in June 07 and we have been forgotten about, messed about and have still not been fixed and we are now in march 08. We have also had to cancel the builders that Halifax set up for us as they also have messed us about as they came on 17th September 07 and ripped everything out ie kitchen, doors, door frames and 2 ft of plaster off all downstairs walls and that is how we have been left and have now had to sort our own builders out who will hopefully sort things out quicker and ...

A really inferior and inadequate product. 'A service to rely on if things go wrong', certainly this is not our experience. If friends tell you its a good deal ask them if they have tried making a claim. Only look at reviews from the people who have made claims.

Halifax are definitely an excellent company. They provide excellent customer service when you do speak to them and the offer of freezing your costs is excellent. They have provided me with an very competitive quote which I feel confident about securing for 2 years at the same rate. I have recommended this service to a number of my friends.

Premium kept rising despite no claims for over 5 years. When I asked them to address the rising cost and compete with others, they told me to go somewhere else. Quick to pick up the phone. Never claimed so can't comment further

A neighbour crashed his car into our next door (semi-detached) neighbour's front wall. This has affected our wall, which as a consequence is visibly bent/warped. Halifax have been dragging their pencils over this claim since 2 Feb 2007. Nothing has been done except them sending an assessor who 'apparently' reported that there was no damage to the property. The surveyor who assessed next door's damage, correctly determined that the whole of the front of both properties will have to come down to f ...

On November 29, 2005, we suffered a house fire during the installation of a new flat roof. As the work was apparently subcontracted, the main contractors stated that the subcontractors' insurers would be responsible for any resulting claim. However, it transpired that the fire was caused by actions not covered in their policy. With Christmas fast approaching, the main contractors showed little concern or sympathy for our plight and indeed demonstrated a marked reluctance to acknowledge due respo ...

After having my mortgage with the Halifax for 16 years, and my building and contents insurance for the last 6 years. We had a smell in our hallway coming from under the floorboards (maybe a mouse?) after phoning Halifax to see if we were covered because all our floors were tiled to get under the floor we would have to smash up the floor tiles. They informed us that we were not covered for vermin. How can they justify paying someone out for leaving the bath running and flooding there house wh ...
