“Happy With New Quote!”

★★★★☆

written by Serdy on 05/04/2013

I have been with Npower for a year, and went one of their fixed tarriffs...a duel energy tarriff. It did start at 70 pound a month, but gradually crept to 95 a month. My tarriff runs out on the 8th of April,so i have been looking around on comparison sites. To cut a long story short, all the ones i did see didn't offer me any difference to Npower. I think the end of the day, they are all the same. I found customer service to be very helpful, and have joined them once again, for another year at a fixed rate. And have so far saved 15 pound a month with them. I just thought i would write this review,in case anybody out there was thinking of joining Npower. I think we can all have bad experiences, with any of the big energy companies out there. The girl i spoke to was very helpful and explained everything(even though i did find some bits confusing). I hope my review has been some help.

“NPower”

★★★★☆

written by Logden on 10/07/2011

I have been with NPower for Gas and Electric since 2008 and have found them to be a good company to deal with. I also found their discounts for DD generous. I have cecently changed my gas supplier from NPower to EON because their capped rate tariff was for a longer period at the time than NPower were offering. I am still with NPower for Electric and would consider coming back to NPower in the future.

Clearly you must work for this outfit? Other reviews I've read have been dire!

Paulenew's Response to Logden's Review

Agree wholeheartedly with Davidmusician - if you've been with this disgusting company since 2008 you were a victim of their fraudulent undercharging, and I don't believe for one moment you'd go back after that experience.
Nice advertising technique, if only people weren't allowed to comment...

Have been with Npower since 2008 and have found them to be a reasonable energy company. I find their discounts to be good and straight forward. However, Im not that impressed with 6 monthly statements for my gas and electric. Customer services are always polite and helpful but when I first changed to Npower I had difficulties with switching from my previous supplier.

I am really pleased with the service and support from NPower since switching recently. The staff at the support centre were very knowledgable and dealt with issues with ease. My previous supplier couldn't give me a reliable answer - one member of staff would say one thing and then not take action as did several more - previous supplier support was hopeless and n-power is refreshing.

nPower is one of the few service providers that have impressed me with their customer service, and the only review I've ever actually got off my bum and written! Excellent customer service. Answer calls quickly and always incredibly friendly.

I've been with N Power more years than I remember and they've always been helpful. I've always stuck with N Power, even when I've moved because it's a company I can trust and rely on.

On the whole, I would rate Npower as one of the better utility suppliers. I have always been dealt with courteously when I have had reason to ring them. If you take dual fuel from them you get a discount and although their prices have gone up recently (they are not on their own), I am very happy with their service.

I'm a student client of NPower during the last year. After closing my account a month ago with a credit of £560, they told me they will get it back to my account in a few days. I've messaged them several times about it because I haven't received my money back, and I haven't received an answer. What could I do? Thank you.

Thanks for answering this question.

Npower were a absolute nightmare when I changed suppliers and tried to get my due refund last year. I found it was a total waste of time phoning and was fobbed off with all sorts of different excuses. In the end I managed to find these details to contact executive level complaints which got things moving once I threatened them with the Ombudsman. This was May 2013 but hopefully the email will still be the same. Good luck!

Hi, I recently left NPower because of their atrocious billing problems - well reported in the UK media. I too suffered the lack of communication and eventually voted with my feet. You may have to be patient, complaining to the toothless regulator will get you nowhere in my experience - even if they have strengthened their hand they are likely swamped with complaints. I would try embarrassing NPower (not sure that is possible) on social media, although I found it difficult to find customer complaints on Facebook (well hidden I suppose) although I am no Facebook expert. You could also try Twitter - I did see one conversation on there (I am not on Twitter) regarding help retrieving a cheque for someone - tag @npowerhelp. I'll be interested in hearing other solutions as I too have suffered at their hands. Good Luck, I really hope you get this solved - and quickly.

You need to call them and record the call, possibly on your mobile, use saynoto0870 to find a landline number for them. But keep calling them, and also invoice them for the phone calls and time you have spent trying to get this resolved. The key here is to keep at them and don't let them forget about you, but always ALWAYS be polite to whoever you speak to and explain clearly exactly what you want them to do. I know this is probably not what you wanted to hear but it's the best advice I can give having dealt with many useless customer service agents not just at Npower but at many different companies.

Complain to the Energy Ombudsman and let npower know. Alternatively put in a claim through the small claims court against npower, dint forget to add interest to the amount your are claiming as well as inconvenience and distress.

Hi, I would send them a recorded delivery letter, stating all the facts and stipulate that despte previous assurances you are still oustanding the amount due and therefore you will give them 14 days to refund in full or you will raise a claim in the small claims court and any incurred fees will also be recovered. I would also state that they should also forward an additional amount to hat owed to cover any lost interest and for all your costs and inconvenience. Good luck.

Give them 10 working days to refund your money - do this in writing to their HQ Address - say that you reserve the right to take legal action to have your money refunded. Check that you have all the evidence proving, beyond doubt, that they owe you the money and then take out a County Court Summons on them in your local Court. The claim will include your costs - they will refund you rather than attend Court. It's really simple to get justice, just follow the steps and make sure you have everything in place. Good luck!
