Good Points: The CD is well-produced and contains three tracks that blast out a proficient metal assault. Labrat have put together three well-constructed and intense tracks that looked like they were going to set the band off to a very good start.

Bad Points: Can prove tricky to get your hands on.

General comments: Labrat, Theme For A Downer & Anthems Of Rejection - June 1998 saw the signing of the grindcore/hardcore/metal five-piece 'Labrat' to the Fear Family Assassins label. They promptly set about writing and recording their first debut single 'Theme For A Downer And Anthems Of Rejection'. The CD was released shortly after an eleven-date tour and quickly gained much acclaim from the metal press; METAL HAMMER branded it "ultra-aggressive, yob-rock 8/10", KERRANG!'s MORAT insisted that their readers should "break into your local record-store and liberate a copy now!" and Ian Glasper of TERRORIZER / STAMPING GROUND thought "it's all heavy and it's all good, LABRAT could well be unstoppable".

The sheer brutality and dexterity of the three crushing tracks has been compared to such bands as Machine Head, Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad, Pantera, Iron Monkey, Conflict and Medulla Nocte by press and promoters alike.

    The tracklisting is as follows:
    1. Jaded & Evil
    2. Instant Karma
    3. Theme For A Downer

The CD is well-produced and contains three tracks that blast out a proficient metal assault. Labrat have put together three well-constructed and intense tracks that looked like they were going to set the band off to a very good start. The band later went on to release their joint CD with the band Subvert, titled 'Homegrown Brutality,' and had the inclusion of their track "Phuelled By Faraceuticals" on the '21st Century Media Blitz' compilation CD.
