Good Points: Easy to use and good color balance outdoors. Very efficient Zoom.
Bad Points: Barrel distortion, purple fringing, no zoom in movie mode.
General comments: I've been using C700 since summer 2002 and I really like to take outdoor pictures with it. Colors are good and natural also in fully automatic mode. Indoors the tripod is a must since pretty long exposure times are needed. Also a white balance isn't that natural indoors. Longer exposure and flash produce quite nice pictures also indoors. More than purple fringing, the barrel distortion bothers me, but that's the price one must pay for using the 10xZoom camera.
Camera is easy to use, except for the manual mode menu. I haven't yet managed to save the settings I want to use. Every time when camera is turned on, settings must be changed in manual mode. I have heard about similar problems from other C700 users.

I was looking for a long time until I decided to buy this Olympus C700 digital camera and I must say I am happy with it. The image and color quality is very good, the 2.1 Megapixel CCD is enough to make brillant photos, the zoom lens is its most fascinating feature, and I would not buy another camera without such a lens. The camera is not the smallest but ergonomics is very good, it is light and easy to use.

I bought my Olympus C700 digital camera mostly for sailing photography. The 10x optical zoom is perfect for this and the picture quality is superb, even at 10x. I have had one picture enlarged to A2 and was amazed at the definition. The investment in the lens rather than a higher-resolution chip has really paid off. Needless to say, high shutter speeds are needed at max. zoom, but these can be normally be achieved by 'pushing' the ISO setting, up to 800 if necessary.
I previously owned a C2020, ...

This Olympus C700 digital camera seems to hit the nail on the head. It is the Standard camera makers should use. The camera is well balanced weightwise and feels great to hold in one hand comfortably.
Quality of the pictures is super. Overall appearance is of a much more expensive camera. Manufactures choice of a relatively low range Digital zoom was smart. The 2.5 digital zoom is all any camera should have to keep from getting distortion when zooming, even with a 2.5 digital zoom and the 10X O ...

The Olympus C700 is an excellent digital camera for portraits. The lens is not too harsh and forgiving of minor skin imperfections. The 10X is great because you do not have to be uncomfortably close to the model.

I think this olympus digital camera is great for the price. The photo quality has impressed everyone that has seen photos from my camera. I really believe that the quality of the photos are top notch and the zoon lens is a necessity. The olympus c700 seems built to be manageable with one hand. I am not the most computer saavy, though I've had no problems transferring photos or using the software. The process of transferring photos to computer is very quick ~ I didn't need to buy all of the ...

What can I say. I own an Olympus SLR, never had any probs. I did read another review in which the punter seemed to have had pretty much the same experiences as me. I was also told that Olympus copies much of they're software from other companies, something I'm not in a position to comment on.

I bought this digital camera to replace my old Fuji MX-1200 and the difference amazed me. The zoom on this camera is nothing short of spectacular the 10x optical zoom combined with the 2.7x digital zoom really allows you to close in on a distant subject.
This camera was a great buy and I would heartily recommend to all.

After my old Olympus C-900Z went on the fritz after 3 years (had a hard impact in the car), I couldn't decide between a high-res or high zoom digital camera. I settled for the Olympus C-700Z and have no regrets. Much easier to use, loads of features - particular the manual override for aperture etc. The USB connection needs a little preparation before uploading. The supplied software is just OK - I've seen better (Kodak springs to mind). Some of the software doesn't seem to support the USB conne ...
