To counter-balance the negative reviews below, I used Tesco Downloads for the first time last night and have been very impressed. I bought a single track for 67p (vs 99p on iTunes) and have just bought the Foo Fighters Greatest Hits album for £3.97 (half the price of anywhere else). Download speed is good - once you have the Download Manager installed - and it's easy to import into iTunes for syncing with my iPod. Perhaps some of the issues below were teething problems with the new site.

I wish I had read these comments before I bought any tracks from Tesco. Fortunately I only bought 2 tracks. The first took over 20 minutes to get 80% of the way through then crashed. The other has been downloading for over 10 minutes so far. I think I'll just give up and buy them somewhere else.

My clot of a wife accidentally bought a download instead of a CD and so far the download which has 63 tunes on it has manopolised the computer for over 10 hours.
I would never download anything from there music collection again.

Use Amazon, it's way easier plus it downloads straight to iTunes in only a few seconds and you can put it on your iPod and phone. They have special 29p sales as well. Tesco music takes to long to download.

I would not recommend the Tesco Downloads site. The music, once downloaded (took nearly three hours) was fine but, the music wouldn't download to my pc (Windows XP). The support centre told me to uninstall and then re-install the manager software. In the end I used my laptop which has Vista and eventually all tracts downloaded but it was extremely frustrating and time consuming. I have found the same thing when trying to upload photos to their photocentre. Everytime it causes Internet explo ...

I went back to Tesco because they do have a good range of older tracks, but that's no use when you can't get at them. I spent an hour finding the tracks I wanted, then I tried to download the manager and it failed. The whole site was failing to respond 50% of the time, eventually I gave up and when I went back in my basket had gone and I had to start again.
Whoever revamped this site should be ashamed.

iTunes has nothing to worry about. Tesco Downloads have made the classic mistake in making it difficult and time consuming to set up and use. Firstly there's a download manager in an unknown .axd format, then there's an addon which needs to be validated by windows (25mb), and on. and on...
Then is doesnt work for mac users.
    Thanks and goodbye.

Like others, I had downloaded from the old system run by Tesco and was happy with that. This time, used the E-Wallet system and downloaded 6 tracks, one in MP3 format, the others WMA. Only the MP3 downloaded correctly. The error message suggested trying again to download, which I did - lost one licence, but no joy.
Customer Services said I needed to upgrade Windows Media Player. Couldn't do this at first - Active X problem. Eventually managed. Attempted to re-download - lost another licenc ...

Tesco download used to be brilliant - I used it all the time and it was my site of preference. Now it seems to be offline around 75% of the time and I hardly ever use it anymore. Too many 'bells and whistles' and not enough plain, reliable service. There are far better sites out there now - Amazon for one.

Music will not download/cannot reload previously purchased music and some files that have been purchased of the old site now seem corrupt. If you want any downloaded music I do not recommend tesco. Before the change to tesco digital never had a problem, worked a treat, since the change not received one download, will not use again!

Tesco Digital allegedly have a minimum system requirement which I couldn't find so I spent 4 days trying all combinations to get tracks to download until person 3 who I spoke to on day 4 after 3 order attempts and 2 previous conversations - which I paid for - actually told me I need Firefox or IE 7 and service pack 2 or 3 if I am running XP!

Why not put that on the front page?

Why not? Because in my opinion they are too busy flashing tracks for you to buy on the splash screen and of course the ...

What has been done to this web site, I feel my child of 5 could do a better job. I am off to another site, which is, easier to operate, has a search that works for me... I therefore do not recommend tescodownloads.com.

Agree with most recent reviewers, Tesco Digital is overcomplicated and not a patch on it's old site which was a doddle to use. Samples don't always play, their freebie didn't process, now my first purchase only gave me a 3 second download and they blame my firewall. Waiting on refund now and will not be using again. Songs from their previous site still play on windows media player 11 ok which is a plus i suppose compared to some other users. Advice: don't use Tesco Digital.

I could not get two tracks which I paid for, and they have not got back to me as to why this happened.
In an electronic world this is unbelievable, but I wish I had seen other reviews before, then I would have seen that Tesco Downloads is not recommended.
They got my money straight away, and I have not yet received anything.
It won't happen again and I do not recomemdn tescodownloads.com

I never had problem in downloading the music from Tesodownloads.com. The website definitely boasted services for unlimited free -re-download in case the tracks get damaged, lost. I would never purchase anything from tescodigital.com in case they decide to change their website and deleted all the users accounts again.

xHaving upgraded my PC, I can no longer play my WMA tracks I downloaded from www.tescodownloads.com. WMP 11 directs me to reload the track/licence from my "digital shop" since it cannot restore licences (like previous WMP versions could).

Typing www.tescodownloads.com directs me to the new Tesco Digital site - which has no record of my purchase from tescodownloads. I Emailed Tesco Customer Services who said there is no facility to link to purchases made on the old site.
I'll look at HMV downloa ...

If you are already techno-savvy then avoid this site. I am stunned that an organisation that has revolutionised retail shopping in the UK and cultivated incredible brand loyalty (i have resisted every other retailers's loyalty scheme except Clubcard because it genuinely rewards my custom with benefits or discounts) Their innovation has finally hit a brick wall with this site. I am confident that Tesco will either resolve my problem or refund me. But this is not a position i thought i could ever ...

Lots of bad points, difficult to get to the music I want, the website is confusing, a lot of time wasting, the general presentation is confusing (done by an amateur) Tesco has lost its objective and never heard of the addage KISS (keep it simple stupid) after such a good service in the past its poor now. I am taking my business elsewhere.

Recently returned to the download site to download tracks previous purchased to find that they had changed the site to the new and improved Tesco s Digital site. Unfortunately due to the changes I could not access my music. I emailed to ask if it was possible to transfer my tracks and after about 2 weeks I received a response.

Perhaps if I had read the term and conditions in detail I would not have purchased. I like many people skim through the terms and conditions for sites I t ...

I was using Tescodowloads without too many problems. Some of my music would seem corrupted/wouldn't play correctly at times. Not sure why.Since they changed to Tescodigital, I seem to not be able to download my old music? I was never informed of the changes, before they took place as far as I am aware.I get emails from Tesco all the time, when they're trying to sell me things. But they just couldn't inform me of the changes to TescoDownload in my opinion, before they changed to TescoDigital.I've ...
