Good Points: Cheap. Accurate and fast.
Bad Points: Limbs started splintering after about 50 shots. It was minor at first, but after just a few more there were splits in the limbs that leave me afraid to have a string on it. Looks like they could blow any second. Needless to say, I'm not about to cock it, much less put an arrow on it to shoot. I can't find anyone at Barnett that will even talk to me about it.
General comments: I bought the Barnett Quad 400 Crossbow based on price. But you get what you pay for. Also, there is no service after the sale. I called and emailed the company after I started having trouble and never...never got a reply.

I recently purchased a Barnett Quad 400 package with a Barnett scope. The bow was easy to assemble and sight in
It is extremely fast but is quite loud, I think some silencer may quiet it down a little.
The trigger assembly could definitely use some improvements. The pull is easy but is very long and will require getting use to.
As I read in other reviews the Barnett scope is not very good. After only seven shots the reticle started to rotate inside the scope.
I have sent three email to Barnet ...

The jury is still out for me, but I am not completely satisfied with my Barnett Quad 400. I feel it is noisy, the trigger is bad, and the accuracy is at best questionable. I will be shopping for a new crossbow this summer.

I have hunted over 20yrs with bows and horton crossbows but I decided tobuy the barnett and it has been unreliable piece of junk. I found the barnett quad 400 crossbow to be innaccurate, i had parts that loosened easily as well.

The warranty dept. has done the best they were able, but when every time you get the bow back it breaks again, what can you say?
The quality of this bow is pathetic in my opinion. I have personaly had the limbs replaced 3 times under warranty.I think they must be building them in Mexico due to the lack of quality. Sorry I bought this one, wont happen again.

When I first got the Crossbow a couple years ago, I had only shot it around three times and it wouldn't cock anymore. I messed with it several times trying to get it to cock and I finally got it to cock but I couldn't get the safety off so naturally there was the bow cocked and all that tention on the string. I called the Barnett Co. and told them about it and they had me try a few things to get the safety off but I couldn't. They wouldn't let me send it back until it was fires somehow but I jus ...

All around not a bad crossbow but improvements are needed. The Barnett Quad 400 Crossbow is really fast to use and accurate. Its quite heavy and noisey and the trigger assembly should be recalled in my opinion and replaced with a metal trigger housing.

This is the second crossbow I have received from Barnett. Both have broken the exact same way. The main bowstring disconnects from the left hand caliper. I only shot the first bow about 8 times before it happened and the replacement one lasted about 18 times before it did it. I followed all the waxing and operation procedures.

I wouldnt recomend this product to any body because the limbs all snapped and cracked with the first shot i took at a staw target. I now have a scar for life where the string whipped me just bellow my face and i do not whant anybody to go through the amount of surgerys i went through.

the bow shoots very well. it is fast and accurate. i have seen that a lot of people have been having problems with the limbs cracking and breaking. this could be do to the arrows they are using. A light arrow in this bow is almost the same as dry firing it. you have to use aluminum, no carbon arrows. for quality to $ this is the best on the market.

I bought the Barnett Quad 400 Crossbow brand new and only got to shoot it 16 times. I lubed the strings after every 5 shots, however on the 16th shot, the string completely shattered. I was very lucky that I did not get hurt. I called the place where I bought the crossbow, and they told me that this was unheard of and that the only possible way that this could happen was if the bow was dry-fired. I informed the guy that I did not dry fire the bow, and that the bolt was correctly placed, push ...

The Barnett Quad 400 is an excellent crossbow. The string may need to be replaced after as little as 100 shots. This is normal for crossbows. A bow press will be required to change the string, so people without access to this equipment or a specialist dealer should consider buying a recurve bow, such as an Excalibur.

The Barnett Quad 400 Crossbow is a great design! Stock is short enough for people with short arms and has enough power to take down any wildlife it hits at 345 fps and 122 LB thrust with a 15.5" powerstroke. Be sure to get a proper practice target to stop the bolt my first shot into a 14" thick archery target went thru the target and stopped on the exit side of a heavy plastic trashcan full of sand that was behind it at 20 yards.
