Good Points: The CD manages to capture the sound and feel of the band playing live superbly, delivering a powerful and energetic performance that you'll find listening to over and over again.
Bad Points: Can be quite expensive to import from Japan.
General comments: Wildhearts, Tokyo Suits Me - Back in January 1999, 'Mercury Japan' released the first Wildhearts-authorized live album that had a Japan release only. Recorded live at the Akasaka Blitz in Tokyo on the 24th October 1998, the line-up for the band was - Ginger, Danny, Ritch and Jef. The eleven-track CD captures the explosive sound of the Wildhearts as they blast through a impressive set of classic Wildhearts hits. A limited edition version of the CD was also released which included a bonus disc with 25mins of various live material.
The track listing is as follows:
1. I Wanna Go Where The People Go
2. My Baby Is A Headf**k
3. Sick Of Drugs
4. Nita Nitro
5. Everlone
6. Suckerpunch
7. 29 x The Pain
8. Weekend '98
9. Nothing Ever Changes But The Shoes
10. Caffeine Bomb
11. Love U 'Til I Don't
The limited edition bonus disc includes:
1. 29 x The Pain - Acoustic
2. Caffeine Bomb - Acoustic
3. Mindslide (intro only)
4. Duck Song (from the end of 29 x The Pain)
5. Nite Songs
6. Geordie In Wonderland
7. Jilted John
8. Anthem
The inlay to the CD is pretty awesome. It comes in two parts, the first part is a full colour fold-out sleeve that includes loads of photos of the band playing live, and the second part is a black & white fold-out inlay with lyrics and Ginger-penned sleeve notes. These are printed in both English and Japanese.
All in all, the CD manages to capture the sound and feel of the band playing live superbly, delivering a powerful and energetic performance that you'll find listening to over and over again. Importing the CD can be quite expensive, but will prove well worth it for any Wildhearts collector.
