Good Points: Sixteen classic Wildhearts tracks with the explosive energy of their live sets.
Bad Points: Released by Geoff Gillespie, the band recieved no financial reward for the release and never allowed permission. The album's release was sneaky but legal....somehow!
General comments: Wildhearts, Anarchic Airwaves - Released by Kuro Neko Records back in March of 1998, 'Anarchic Airwaves' was another release by Geoff Gillespie who was the face behind the mistreatment of the band whilst they struggled with the label East West. Gillespie managed to release this live album and the album "Landmines & Pantomimes" without the band's permission, yet entirely legally, and the band received no financial reward for their release.
It was released on CD and a Double LP that was only available via mail order. The CD was also released in a limited edition tin case and also as a limited edition double CD version that included the rest of the Reading set.
The tracklisting is as follows:
Live At Plymouth Pavilion 08/10/1993
1. Nothing Ever Changes (But The Shoes)
2. Greetings From S**tsville
3. Everlone
4. Shame On Me
5. Love You 'Til I Don't
Live At Reading Festival 28/08/1994
6. Suckerpunch
7. Drinking About Life
Live At Leeds Town & Country Club 07/04/1996
8. I Wanna Go Where The People Go
9. Sick Of Drugs
10. Nita Nitro
11. 29 x The Pain
12. TV Tan
Recorded On The Friday Rock Show 23/04/1993
13. Pump It Up
14. Everlone
15. Something Weird (Going On In My Head)
16. Liberty Cap
A limited edition double CD version of this live compilation album was released which included the rest of the Reading Festival set from 1994. The tracklisting for this extra CD is as follows:
1. Caffeine Bomb
2. Everlone
3. Greetings From S**tsville
4. Nothing Ever Changes But The Shoes
5. Liberty Cap
6. My Baby Is A Headf**k
7. Love You 'Til I Don't
The live tracks do give a good feel of what the band are like live, with their fierce energy and explosive sound. For an even better example of their live set I would highly recommend both the Japanese live CD 'Tokyo Suits Me' and the recent release of the double live album 'The Wildhearts Strike Back'. Both have an excellent sound and seem to capture the electricity of the band live perfectly.
The CD inlay includes a brief history of the band as they have progressed and struggled through the years.
