Good Points: The Nile cruise was amazing and are returning in 2 weeks to do it all again.
Bad Points: The Viking Premier however was very disappointing, the cabin we were in had very bad diesel fumes. We asked to be moved to another cabin and were told one would be available in 2 days time at a cost of £60.00 each for myself and my husband.
General comments: I asked the discover Egypt rep to make a note of this which she said would happen and a memo would be sent to head office when we returned home. I contacted Discover Egypt to be told they were sorry but had no record of anything so I personally will not be using Discover Egypt again.

Overall the holiday was a bitter experience, we were glad to have seen the sites, but we feel we paid to big a price for the privilege. The constant barrage of people wanting money from us was sickening and this was made worse by the fact that this was allowed to continue. All in all a disappointing experience, and one I would not recommend to anyone else.

We have just returned from a 7 night cruise along the Nile. This was booked months ago as a surprise for my Husbands 50th Birthday.
Firstly the positive: The tours and the scenery were breath taking, we were both a little nervous as we had never done an organised tour but Discover Egypt and our tour guide was faultless. Every day was varied and interesting, with additional tours for those who wanted to go but there was definitely no hard sell for those who did not. My highlight had to be the Val ...

Good staff and clean. Not a 5 star by any means, food average, too many tips, no beer on draught. Overall not a bad cruise but the boat was very disappointing from the advert, let down with the state of the boat when along side other boats which were of far better status.

Having returned last Monday the 14th April from an unbelievable and truly fantastic holiday aboard Viking Premier, my friend and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff on board for making our very first cruise such a great holiday. The boat was so clean and totally user friendly combined with staff that were so helpful and polite made our holiday very special. The food was always varied and catered for all. The Tour Guides were so helpful making each trip so interesting and tak ...

My friend treated me to this holiday and the two of us (women) felt safe and really enjoyed ourselves. The evening entertainment was lovely and really I cannot speak too highly of the whole experience and I would recommend it to all my friends.

I will certainly recommend this to all my friends and in fact I would like to recommend it to all those women who are worried about travelling alone. The Ship is extremely safe, and after 2 days you are not alone. What can I say about the towel decorations we found every day when we came back from the tours...... superb!!!!! (I wanted to take the artist who did them with me, together with his infectuous smile!!!!!!!) I only have good things to say about the service in the ship and as I said ...

I very much enjoyed the cruise and tours during my stay in upper Egypt.
The history is so diverse to our own and so interesting! We would have been less fortunate though if we didn't have the services of our tour guide Ayman. He was wonderful ! I look forward to discovering another part of Eqypt with the tour company in future.

My Holiday on board the Viking Premier was a very memorable- The staff are extremely friendly and always made you feel welcome and always asked if we had any problems. The chef always tried to bring variety to all meals and there was always something there for people who have special dietary requirements. The rooms were slightly on the small side but none the less there was enough room. The level of hygiene was very high with hand cleansing dispensers outside the dinning room, lounge bar, upper ...

The small group we were had three major gripes, firstly the engine noise when moored up and the frequently noxious smell of diesel fuel and exhaust from both our boat and others adjacent. This frequently percolates into the cabins via the air-con. Prospective travellers need to be aware that all Nile cruise boats spend a long time during the cruise moored up, and whilst doing so all electrical power is self generated, [the boats don't plug into the mains!].
Secondly, when moored, it is often ...

The worst of all holidays we've ever been on. The Viking Premier is so tired, nothing at all is clean. I wouldn't advise taking children or old people, I think the 5 star they advertise, is only close to a British 2 star. I ended up being ill and although I took sickness pills, I found they didn't work and I couldn't see a doctor for 3 days, because once you're on the boat, you are on! Also don't forget to take a fortune for tips they expect it! All in all, I wouldn't advise this holiday to anyo ...

The accommodation on-board the Discover Egypt Viking Premier cruise is just not acceptable. There are plenty of good boats on the river Nile, but the viking II is not one of them. Unless you have the lowest budget you will be disappointed with the Viking II.

A large number (A majority?? Some for 3 or 4 days) of passengers went down with stomach problems - who knows if ship was to blame? On the last day they chuck you out of your cabin at 10 am - even though you don't go to the airport until 17.30 and they should have time to make up cabins for incoming guests in an afternoon. Prices of "optional trips" are inflated -especially the Balloon Ride which they ask £70 for but which you should be able to get for as low as £27 in town (The compa ...

My sister and I would love to do the Viking Premier Nile cruise again, and after seeing different boats as we passed through, we would use Viking Premier again.
Everything on-board was clean. Staff were very friendly. The cabin was good, and the food was excellent!

We had high hopes for this Nile cruise as we were celebrating our honeymoon, but we were left badly disappointed. The Viking Premier is advertised as a five-star vessel, but it is far from five-star. It has peeling paint and poky greying cabins. During our seven days on board we had to walk through several other cruise ships, and every single one was clearly in better shape than the Viking Premier.
The food was of a school dinner standard and changed very little from day to day. All alcoholi ...

This was our second visit to Egypt with Discover Egypt. Again the staff on board Viking Premier were first class, we were remembered by several crew members from our trip last year on Viking 1, which is now in for a refit. Our waiter was the same one we had last year, not only did he remember our names but also the fact that it was our wedding anniversary during the cruise. Our cabin steward was first class and had some wonderfull ideas about room decoration. I would recommend Viking Premier, we ...

We spent 7 days on the Viking Premier Nile Cruise. Although not the largest of cruise ships, it was clean and functional. There were about 75 people on board.
The level of hygiene was very high, with all rooms and public locations having a hand cleansing dispenser, which everyone on board, including the staff regularly used.
Lunch consisted of a selection of rice, potato and a vegetable, plus a beef, chicken and a fish dish. (Chef did his best to add variety,) this did get a bit boring, ...

I, and everyone else that was on this ship were so disappointed. The pictures in the brochure made it look really wonderful, but as soon as you step onto the ship, you can see that they have tried to "tart up" a very old and tired boat. As I have mentioned, I have photos from the room, which I am willing to send to anyone who is interested, along with my letter to Discover Egypt, and the frankly objectionable response back. Would I do a Nile cruise again? yes no doubts!
Would I use Disco ...

Relates to Viking Premier I. On cruise from April 11th to 18th 2005. Staff very helpful, though could be considered a bit overbearing (First meal we were told where to sit & we were stuck with that seating arrangement throughout the cruise) all meals/outings very closely timed & a bell rang to 'summon' us. (hour maximum for all meals). After 3rd day instances of 24-48 hour stomach bugs, probably hit 60-70% of passengers. Crew not concerned, just handed out pills & powders.
Food was ok, but very ...
