Good Points: Very sharp pics , masses of features lightweight body
Bad Points: Slow ,start up ,shutter not in real time ,viewfinder takes to long to return to normal,after taking pictures,
General comments: I have had the Nikon Coolpix 8700 camera for two years,and will keep the camera for now ,i have been a nikon user for forty years ,owning most nikon models in that time ,and being happy with them.

The Coolpix 8700 is everything I've ever wanted in a digital camera. It's size makes it easy to take with you everywhere, and with 8 mega pixels, you'll always get a fantastic quality picture.
For close up still life photography, good colour definition can be difficult to achieve, especially with darker colours. Saturation control seems to be the key here, and setting it to +2 has definitely made a difference.

Very impressed with the build quality and general robustness of the Nikon Coolpix 8700 from the start. Picture quality is also very good. Just started to shoot some infra red and the results so far are very promising. Altogether a powerful little camera in a neat package. BRILL A++++
