“What happened to Walkers”

Written on: 07/07/2014 by philgornal (1 review written)

Just eaten a packet of Walkers Ready Salted (threw half in the bin) and what a disappointment they are. I keep expecting the quality to return to something near what it used to be, but keep getting nasty tasting, black and purple edged crisps, that used to be associated with only the cheapest crisps. Walkers are now totally dependant upon their advertising and rip-off techniques, (bigger bags with fewer crisps) to maintain their business and I believe the writing is on wall for them. The sooner… Read Full Review

“total waste of money”

Written on: 07/06/2014 by nickoooooo (1 review written)

keep getting stale crisps in multi packs, take them back to Sainsbury's and get the well it must only be that pack attitude, off my shopping list now, and for ever. When I go to Italy on my hols I buy cripes from supermarket and they are fresh and tasty , not walkers. NOT recommended Hint: Think about what you liked and didn't like about it nothing no even the lame GL adverts… Read Full Review

“Tastless Miserly Portions”

Written on: 02/04/2014 by AshtonGustafson1990 (1 review written)

Recently purchased some old favourites, cheese & onion and salt & vinegar flavours of these crisps and I have noticed that the quantity has been reduced from 35g per packet to only 25g for the same price. Also, the 6-packet multipacks seem to have been replaced by multipacks of only 5 packets, once again for the same price. Also, the flavour was very disappointing. They are truly bland now! This goes for both classic flavours purchased, they have a very vague distant taste, as though the… Read Full Review

Totally agree! Sadly this is the case with just about every sweet, ready meal, snack food and chocolate etc. that I once enjoyed as a kid! Then you get the typical "your taste buds have changed" line chucked at you! No, they haven't! No taste buds change that much! Proof is also in the fact that in many of these big brands, which are globally sold, the salt, fat and sugar (hence the taste) is not universally the same; for example, Lays cheese and onion crisps, who are Walkers, but for America and a lot of Europe, taste just like ours USED to! In many countries the same product contains the original levels and recipe! Kellogg's in South Africa is an example! Had the Cornflakes there, which have half the salt here now, and less sugar! I can't eat them here without adding loads of sugar and a dash of salt! Also, Nestle Lion bar in Poland is exactly how I remembered it here as a kid, yet the UK one is rubbish now! Looking at the nutrition and ingredients, I know why! Less meddling in other countries! Very hypocritical of these firms! If salt or MSG is so bad, then why aren't people in other countries having loads of health problems! Take China as an example, loads of salt and MSG, but they are healthier than here!

Where ever one goes to find something great tasting, the health nazis and nanny state are sure to follow, because heaven forbid we actually make our own choices as adults or enjoy anything! So sick of these faceless and clueless government busy bodies interfering in our lifestyle choices! Free country, my arse!

“the crisps are half emty full of air”

Written on: 05/02/2014 by TheExpertGuru (1 review written)

i used to love buying walkers crisps, but they have gradually decreased the quantity of crisps in their packets. Now i will find most crisp are half broken and half a packet and rest is air. Just a disappointment, as i think they make some great tasting crisps but they have become greedy and thinking about making money and not caring for their consumers anymore. I think everyone should boycott walkers. They are a complete rip-off and would not recommend anyone purchase their crisp. The only… Read Full Review

“Poor value crisps and now with rubbish competition prizes”

Written on: 12/11/2013

Once a well respected manufacturer of good quality, if not good value crisps. Recent changes have robbed them of even that merit and adding insult to injury they promote them through a really cynical competition with prizes such as promotion codes. Wake up and smell the… Read Full Review

I quite agree. They supposedly made them more healthy, but all they did was reduce the quality and flavour. I don't like low fat variety foods as I prefer just to eat less full fat. The competition is absolutely rubbish. I have "won" many prizes so far, but I don't call it a prize when every single one entails spending money. I haven't actually used any of the prizes yet. They are either discounts at various websites or BOGOF. Plus the £10000 giveaway on Twitter basically involves you sitting, watching Twitter all day waiting for the clue so I couldn't be bothered.

“Walkers rip off - no crisps in the bag”

Written on: 20/09/2013

Purchased pack of Deep Ridge crisps - it was almost empty. There is no excuse for this. I have read nonsense about needing air to keep bags from crushing crisps... pathetic - you could have put 3 times as many crisps in there and not had them crushed. This is pure greed at work! I have purchased my very last pack of Walkers ever and have decided to boycott this company and warn everyone I can to do the same. Their deceptive advert driven agenda is not based on actually giving you the crisps… Read Full Review

“What has gone wrong with Walkers crisps”

Written on: 06/08/2013 by ridleyville (1 review written)

I use to really enjoy a packet of cheese and onion crisps but it seems this is going to be a thing of the past. They are dry and almost tasteless. It does not matter if you buy a single bag or multipack the quality is the same. Rubbish. Is it because they now produce the crisps in Hungary. Garners pickled onions have gone down the pan as well ever since they moved production to Poland… Read Full Review

“Where are my crisps?”

Written on: 17/07/2013

I am sure I buy a bag of crisps, however, what I actually get is a gust of air resembling a salty fart and a few poncey crisps at the bottom. Prices are up, crisps are down, packaging larger than usual. More people would buy if the packaging resembled what was actually in the bag~? It appears we are paying more for the bag than we are for the product! Poor show Walkers… Read Full Review

“What has happened?”

Written on: 23/10/2012 by Andyjazz (1 review written)

What on earth has happened to Walkers Crisps. They used to be relied upon to give you that just cooked taste. Now they are definately different, dry, stale tasting. They seem to have that cooked last month taste now! I suppose it's all in the name of healthy eating, reduce the fat content etc. but surely not if it means changing the flavour beyond recognition… Read Full Review
