Good Points: i enjoy my recorders, that's why i have 2 units in my home. they are easy to use and very, very dependable,,

Bad Points: i can't seam to get any help with the numbers i've called.

General comments: These Lite-On LVW-5006have been the best dvd recorders i'v ever purchased, that's why i have 2. the guide on how to use is so simple my 12 year old can work it.. it's an amazing piece of technology.
i use mine for church recording, cd's it has links to my vcr, camcorder,tv,and it tapes up to 6 hours. and best of all i don't have to sit and watch it work, i can set the settings and just go about my daily work habits.. thanks,, ms.m
    i'm having problems, with both of my recorders. i've tried to contact the support unit, and get a message of $1.25, per min. and i can't afford to wait for , long periods of time , for some one to help me. i need some help;;

I bought this Lite-On LVW-5006 DVD Recorder on the recommendation of my son who had an identical one. He had had his for 2 years and had been very pleased with it. I too am finding it a pleasure to own.

This seems to happen to LOTS of owners of MANY brands, many well-known ones. These things should ALL have the little paper-clip hole, even though I know that won't always work. The LiteOn people have not yet as far as I am aware replied to the email I sent them requesting some help with this. Not impressed, but I loved it while it worked.

This recorder is really frustrating. It will play some DVD's and not others. It's also very slow.

In this day of DVD Writer hardware, this product is just unforgivable.
I only paid 80 18 months ago when all other recorders were in the plus 150 range. I should have seen this coming.

This is a pitiful product. During my research for an answer to my 'invalid disk' errors, i came upon dozens of people who were posting about this same issue.

I purchased this LVW-5006 from Radio Shack. I paid $200.00 for it when I got it, Used for less than 40 days and all went to ruined disks. I had to carry it back... they kept it 6 weeks could not fix it. Sent me a refurb and it did not last 30 days, same problem. In total sent back 4 times, after last time it broke I opened up unit and saw it had same hook ups as computer DVD recorder so I got a longer cables and taped on outside lid, have recorded over 300 DVDs since then and had no further prob ...

The only comments I have really have for these DVD Recorders is you get what you pay for so it may be cheap but it's not worth the bother.

I had my Lite-On LVW-5006 for about a year, with only small problems (such as it takes forever to record DVDs, especially if you have a lot of titles on the one DVD), but just the other day, it plain stopped working - It should be named "No-Write" instead of "All-Write", because now every single DVD I put in it comes up as "Invalid Disk". How can you possibly put an invalid disk into something that is meant to be able to record on ANY format? Save your money, and just DON'T buy it!

Since I bought this Lite-On LVW-5006 last December, I've had nothing but trouble. When I go to the setup and select pal and then Scart RGB, I then click OK to save the settings. When it is switched off, then switched back on, the settings have altered. The screen is monochrome yet again and then I have to reset the settings. I will never buy a Lite-On product again

I purchased this Lite-On LVW-5006 recorder for £99.99 which was great value for money considering the features. I always do my research and after only finding one poor rating, I decided to buy it. Since then I have regretted it and finally took it back for a refund.
Problems - Very noisy fan. Disc tray takes 15 seconds to open. Sometimes it would record, other times it would reject the blank disc, even the DVD+RW supplied with the recorder. It wouldn't recognise my camcorder through the ...

I bought this dvd recorder with some doubt after reading the reviews however I have been very impressed. It only cost £79.99 from Currys and has some good features for the price.
It is dual format so it plays and records both + and - DVD's and it also plays CD's and jpeg/MP3 files, you can also record from VHS to DVD. Videoplus also makes it much easier to record programs.
    Would certainly recommend

Very few DVD's that I recorded on the Lite-On LVW-5006 DVD recorder were recognised on other players, which meant I couldn't copy from the video camera to DVD for friends and family, as the DVD's wouldn't work in their machines. It meant I had to transfer them to PC and fiddle about with software programs to make them compatible. Yesterday the thing sat down on me, and the DVD drawer just won't open. So it's useless. I paid quite a lot for this in Argos, and at the time it was over €200. I'm ver ...

I have owned four Lite-On LVW 5006 DVD Recorders in the last 12 months, having taken three back to the point of purchase, I have been told that the fourth one is over three month old and is the manufacturers problem. Having contacted the manufacturer numerous times over the last 2 months, I still do not have a working machine and am having no joy getting the replacement. Look elsewhere for a DVD recorder, this company will leave you high and dry.

I bought my FIRST LiteOn LVW-5006 DVD recorder in March of 2005. The store where I bought it from exchanged it after 6 or 7 months, and after 4 trips to the repair shop. The second one is going straight back to LiteOn after 6 more months of unreliability. I have seen this thing kick out disks I recorded on that very same machine, and error out as bad disk or no disk. LiteOn is advertising a model 5005 they are calling an upgrade that on their web page is billed as the first DVD recorder to us ...

Although the DVD recorder I have is the 5005, it should be similar to the LiteOn LVW- 5006. It was NOT that user friendly, and I had 2 problems:

    1) It would say it was erasing a RW DVD and it did NOT, many times
    2) It would simply Lock-Up and you I would have to unplug it to regain access

    I would NOT buy another!

I bought the LiteOn LVW-5006 DVD recorder from Amazon for £79.99 (inc delivery)!

Visually, first impressions were it's a good looking unit, and a nicely laid out remote. I then integrated it into my TV system and powered it up. The unit is a joy to use, and it is so easy to make it do what you want. I bought it primarily for archiving stuff from my PVR and digital camcorder.

After thoroughly putting the unit through it's paces to see if it does what it says it can, I am very impres ...
