Good Points: Price, looks, handling
Bad Points: Manufacturer's attention to detail.
The thing barely came with instructions...
General comments: I bought my Tech Force 66 a couple of weeks ago from Compasseco and this is my first air rifle.
I am fairly new to the sport but I have to confess that I have become obsessed with it. In the past 45 days I have bought the TF66, a Walther Nighthawk and a Skiff 3000. My obsession took me into some serious research before buying the above mentioned guns (all except the TF66 of which I couldn't find much info for)
I was interested on the TF66 for the looks. I was interested in an air rifle but didn't want your typical carnival carbine looking rifle. I Looked all over the market and couldn't find anything remotely close to the TF66 and the price seemed to be a bargain.
So being that said, the following have been my experiences with this rifle over the past few weekends...
I live in Arizona USA. Gotta love this place, the true west where you can take your gun (air gun in this case) to the desert and shoot at will.
One of the "favorable" points that sold me on this gun was its ability to be dismantled easily. However, I have found that while doing so it becomes kind of a pain in the neck to assemble it again and tighten it accordingly.
My rifle didn't come with much instructions material, just a one page from TF and an addendum from Compasseco. It didn't come on a nice box as shown in other websites either. I just got it on a cheapo Styrofoam box.
I found out that besides tightening the knurled ring you also need to tighten a small screw located in front of the trigger guard. If you fail to do so the rifle becomes "lose" after a couple of shots.
I've been having a little bit of a hard time finding the right pellets to use with the loader. I went ahead and bought the TF recommended match pellets (pointy ones) but they are too big for the loader, I am being told that I need to get the flat ones... I guess this issue will take a follow up to see if they work or not. I have been able to load somewhat successfully the loader with crossman hollow point pellets but would like to see how it works with the pellets that are manufacturer recommended.
The rifle is very accurate. I am still in the process of sighting the scopes and I am waiting for my laser bore scope to arrive in a couple of days. Once properly sighted I will be able to rate it's accuracy more adequately. I will also be changing the scope for a 6-24x40 TF scope that should arrive in a couple of weeks. I'll let you all know how much of a difference does it make.
I have been able to place pellet groups within 2 inches from distances ranging from 20 to 30 yards (using a sight vise). Beyond that range the 4x30 scope that comes with the rifle becomes useless (thus the reason for the upgrade). I don't have a way to rate the speed or power of the rifle (the marketing materials rate it at 750fps). The gun is able to pierce a tin can (not aluminum) in both sides at 30 yards distance and that good enough for me. I am curious to see what happens at 50 or beyond (That's if I'm able to hit anything at that distance anyway...).
So overall I would say that I am very happy with this purchase. The gun sells for under $100 US at Compasseco (other sites sell it for a bit more... maybe they come with better instructions and a better case who knows). I'll say that for that price it is a very good deal.
If anybody out there has any other experiences with this gun please share. Comments are welcome.
