Good Points: -Cost. Two to three hundred dollars less than the top end pads, but easily as good, and often times better.
-Weight. EXTREMELY light weight. Zero leg fatigue while playing.
-Perfect hybrid pads. They butterfly perfectly, but are equally impressive while in stand-up. Even better is that, unlike most pads made today, they can be worn slightly tighter on the legs which makes it easier to control them. They don't need to be worn too loose, and because they have a snugger fit, they do what you want them to do. This leg control makes them perfect for ANY style of play, whether you're covering down low, or scrambling in the crease.
-Graphics. With Brian's pads, you either get a beauty, or a real stinker when it comes to graphics. Fortunately, the Blades are real beauties.
-Mobility. Thinner pad profile gives them amazing flexibility. YOU control the pads, they don't control you.
-Protection. I've used them in over 100 games and practises, and I've NEVER felt a stinger. I play a hybrid style and my legs turn out a lot, so I've taken more than my fair share in the inner knees, and calfs. Perfect amount of protection; just enough to keep you safe, but not too much to make the pads bulky.

Bad Points: -Inner knee-cradle would be perfect if they came with just one more knee lift. No biggie.

General comments: Brian's Blade goalie pads:
I've played the KOHO 590's, the HEATON 10's, TPS Bionics, and I've even sampled the CCM Gatekeepers and TPS Xceeds. They're all great pads, but the Blades won me over.
I've tried almost ALL the pads that are offered, and I have never felt more confident than when I'm wearing the Blades.
Better still, the Blades were the most cost effective of the lot! Enough so that I was able to buy a new arm/chest combo with the money that I saved.
Even if the Blades were MORE expensive than the rest, I would still have bought them. They're that great!
Why Brian's discontinued them, I have no idea. I was told that it was because the Blades were taking away sales from the Brian's Demons, which ended up being a huge disappointment. (Yes, I have played these as well.)
Whatever style you play, these are THE pads.
I recommend them to any goalie.
Bottom line; they outperform the competition, and that's what matters most.
