My mother ordered a Christmas hamper for us on the 9th of December, with delivery due on 23rd December...we're still waiting 6 months on. In the words of Oscar Wilde, (to a greater or lesser degree) "To lose one [hamper], may be regarded as a misfortune. To lose both looks like carelessness". Apt in this instance, as this is the 2nd year in a row that M&S have been careless. The previous year too, they were unable to fulfil their contract to provide a hamper. It beggars belief that M&S have... (read more)

I ordered a Merry Christmas hamper on 5th December thinking that, since I live in Canada, it would be a nice gesture for my family in Wales. The delivery date quoted was 12th December. Long story short, I received e-mails postponing the delivery date five times. The one that shocked me the most was received late on Xmas Eve, quoting a delivery date of 2 Jan. Have now been quoted 6 Jan. Customer Care's reaction when I spoke to them on Boxing Day was 'do you want to cancel the order?'. Not... (read more)

My son in Sydney ordered a chilled M & S Christmas Hamper to be delivered on Monday December 19th 2011. No delivery ;no card left. Phoned M&S Customer Service. Hamper to be delivered Wednesday 21st. Stayed in all day, no delivery; no card. Today, Thursday, 22nd have spent most of day phoning the Customer Service call centre with varying answers. They had called Wednesday and left a card. They would deliver within next 48 hours!! Finally had some help from Commercial Manager M & S Yeovil,... (read more)

My sister and I ordered a Christmas hamper for my brother on 5th December, booking delivery for 22nd December so that the hamper, which contained perishables such as cheese, would be delivered in time for festivities. We asked my brother to make sure someone was in ALL DAY, which he did. At 7pm my brother phoned to say that nothing had been delivered, so my sister got in touch with M & S who said, ooops, there had been a problem with the delivery - the hamper hadn't been put on the lorry,... My father bought me a marks and spencers cheese larder hamper for christmas, it cost him £75!! It consisted of a cheap wooden Box (supposedly the larder), a small bottle of wine, a box of cheese biscuits, and three pieces of cheese. How marks and spencers can justify chargeing £75 pounds is beyond me. Trying to complain was an exercise in a waste of telephone calls and time. I advised my father never to waste his money on any of their hampers again. (read more)

My wife's Auntie ordered for us a hamper from M&S as a Christmas gift, the parcel arrived in time, but when I opened to check the content I was shocked to discover that most items( short bread, tea bags, chocolate , marmalade are only few weeks close to their sell by the date. This is Marks and Spencer new way to rip you off. (read more)

My mother-in-law sent us a Marks and Spencers 'hamper' - a cardboard box - containing such poor quality items that most of them were given to the dog. She must have paid quite a lot for it. Given the reputation of M and S, I was really shocked at the poor quality. There appears to be no facility for nought stars: that's what it deserved. (read more)

I had to give a rating out of five and the system doesn't allow for zero. That is what I would give, although one star seems to be the least possible to give.
Marks and Spencers ain't what it used to be. I live in Canada and on December 10th I ordered a "chocoholic" hamper for delivery to a London address. I thought no more of it until speaking with the recipient on Christmas Eve - no hamper had arrived.
I emailed M & S who wrote back to say that "a card had been left" on December 15th...

My elderly mother ordered a hamper for us for Chrsitmas. It arrived on the right day. It contained three small cheese samples (the heaviest was 250g the lightest 125g), a bottle of wine a jar of chutney a box of biscuits and a large basket, oh & a stainless steel cheese knife. Not believing what I saw, I subsequently priced up one of the cheeses at £1.75.
On phoning my mother to thank her, I discovered it cost £75.00. I can honestly say I have never seen such an an example of over pricing....

I ordered this two weeks before Christmas and asked for a delivery date of the 15th. It arrived on the 15th at 5 in the afternoon which was a relief. The contents were securely packed and matched the description on the internet. The products were all of the usual M&S quality which is good to excellent and although the components could have been obtained more cheaply elsewhere I chose the hamper as a one off treat. It comes up to my expectation and overall I am pleased. Ordered a hamper for my brother as a surprise for Christmas from M&S as we were going abroad, order accepted for delivery on 20th December , this never arrived , bill arrived in January which was paid, only just found out that the goods never arrived, my poor brother didn't like to offend me wondering why he hadn't received a present as usual so never mentioned it until a chance conversation asking if he'd liked the Cheese and Port we sent him !! We were sending a Christmas hamper to friends whilst we were away on holiday. No hamper 2 days after despatch, no reply from M&S via feedback page. No hamper by Christmas Eve, tried again, no reply from M&S until an email after Boxing Day. Apologies, and a refund! What we needed was a hamper delivered.
No reply yet either to our final feedback form. Poor customer service.

Ordered Marks And Spencer Christmas Hamper six weeks in advance, dispatch date was quoted as eight days after order placed with delivery date ten days after dispatch.
Seventeen days after order there had been no delivery.
Check the web site to track the order and still no tracking info available.

I received a confirmation on 12 December telling me my order had been accepted. Hamper would be delivered by 22 December. Hamper was for disabled relative who seldom gets out and felt it would be a nice treat for her. Phoned her on Boxing day to find she had not received the hamper. COntacted M&S Hampers who cofirmed order had not been delivered. I asked why an email had not been sent to let us know. I was told some orders had not been fulfilled. Extremely embarrassed as it looked as if we... (read more)

Anyone who orders online should double check the address, especially the postcode, because the delivery company don't - they just go to the nearest match, regardless of the address, even though the details were amended online when the error was discovered as the staff in store were unable to help me - they said I had to make any alterations myself. The staff working at the customer service department on the telephone were more than sorry but my parents still lost out. (read more)
