One word AMAZING! I have only had this bike for a few days and its amazing. Its not like any other 125 on the market. I am 17 and have just come from riding a scooter (yamaha aerox 50) and its not the most simple bike to learn on. The main thing that attracted me to this bike was the size of it as i am 6ft 3 and weigh 13 stone, its is the same size as my dads mates 850 and also not too much smaller than my dads 1100. If I didnt have 'L' plates on the bike no one would know it was only a 125… Read Full Review

The difference is, you don't have to spend a fortune on 2T oil with the Hyosung, because let's be honest, you can't put cheap crappy oil in a Derbi or an Aprillia. You, are evidently a midget, because anyone over the height of around 5'7", makes the Derbi and Aprillia look like a minimoto. The Hyosung is a full size bike, and the only alternative for someone of my height (6'2") is a motard style 125, which offer absolutely no wind protection. No, the Hyosung isn't as well made as some of the other bikes available, but second hand, which is how most 17/18 year olds are buying bikes, there isn't a better bike for the money. And it sounds damn good with a race can.

if you've never ridden a gearbox bike, then your cbt doesn't allow you to ride one, so, you're on the road illegally. as for changing gears, run it to the red line, around 10500, then change gear, it's only a little engine, you need to rev it to get to the power, the red line's where it is for a reason, changing gear there won't hurt it

I inherited this bike from the wife - it was too big for her? I am 6' 2" 21 stones and this wee bike is just fine for me. It goes just fast enough for me to enjoy the ride, great wee starter bike. I went to an upholsterer and had him adjust the pillion seat, he shaved it down so that my legs could stretch out and the pillion seat not dig into my bum, now I sit back relaxed and enjoy the trip. I have a little question with this. :)
When I put on stand and it is in gear the engine cuts, just as the others.
the problem is when I wanna start it the bike acts like the battery is flat, so I changed the battery but it happened again. Its like this switch on the stand sucks all the power out of the battery :(
I tried everything...start the engine without the stand with the stand...really everything.
Please help me if u know whats the real problem :)
thanks a lot

Hyosung GT 125 Comet looks Great but has 'Cheap issues'. For instance for £1200 you could get a 07 hyosung or 57 yamaha ybr. Looks is a no contest, performance is a no contest the hyosung has massive tyres for proper leaning and racing positioning - meaning the footpegs are less likely to hit the floor with intense leaning. On smaller bikes your positioning with your knees high can be arkward and look silly.

BUT, mine had a lot of small problems and it was only 2 years old. The bike rusts… Read Full Review

I have owned my Hyosung GT 125 Comet for a week now, covered over 100 mile and am lovin it. Its a big bike for a 125 and dosent look out of place next to larger engined bikes too. I have a few mods on mine such as a blue-flame exhaust, crash bars, rear hugger etc. all of which only add to the bikes presence.

It has a good seating position allowing good views above traffic, responsive acceleration for a 125, it can easily carry my 16 stone around.

If your looking into honda's CBR or yamaha's YBR… Read Full Review

The handleing and size of the Hyosung GT 125 Comet bike are surely amazing. I've had my bike over onto the footpeg and it was still happy to hold its self there and its an easy bike to drive. Bad points are: chain and sprockets and mounting bolts rust/anodise, had a tiny problem with the electrics behind the dash which caused a short but was an easy fix :) I've managed to buy parts for my bike to increase it too around 30-35 bhp :) and increase the lower end torque and i love this bike i… Read Full Review

I bought the Hyosung GT 125 from a friend who had it for the same reason ie getting experience on a big bike before moving on. I had it with a brand new MOT but I believe it did have a few things done such as new front brakes which were partially seized, new horn and the swing arm which was done under recall. I haven't had enough use day to day yet to experience any problems but you have to bare in mind that it is not a Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha even if it is loosely based on one, it is an entry… Read Full Review

Written on: 17/06/2007 by GraemeHo (1 review written)

Good looking, relatively easy to ride, cheap to run 'real' motorbike, as a progression from scooters.
Build quality leaves something to be desired, and would suggest keeping it under cover or at least using bike cover to slow down rusting. Generally reliable with only minor problems experienced in 9 months of commuting most days 12 mile round trip. Good first bike for learner wishing to get vital road experience without getting on a more powerful bike and getting into trouble… Read Full Review

Written on: 07/05/2007 by Lord Bailog (1 review written)

I have owned my Comet for about 2 years now. It has just been a string of problems ever since.
These bikes will not stand up to commuting everyday through wind and rain.
The exhaust from the front cylinder is completely exposed to the elements and the pipe is made from a poor quality cast. This means rust. My pipe rusted through completely and caused the exhaust valve to over-heat. The rusted bits of metal were then blown through the exhaust and blocked up the catalyst inside the muffler… Read Full Review

I agree, with good maintenance (as you would expect to do with any motorbike, the Hyosung Comet is a great bike, especially if you're a learner building up to your DAS. The 125GTR is the same size as the 650 (though naturally lighter).
It looks great too, 8-)

I disagree completely. There was obviously little to no maintenance done on the bike at all for it to end up in such a state. Poor bike. Mines 3 years old and it's absolutely fine, AND it handles well. Can throw it through corners with ease. If you look after it like any other bike, it works a treat. Neglect it, and it ends up like this fella's bike.

I bought this bike after reading many reviews, and having a look and sit on one in a dealership and for a 125 it is a great looking machine, but thats about it. I still have a Honda Pantheon scooter, which is a lot faster than than my Hyosung GT 125 Comet and after three visits to three different repair centers, I am still only getting 65mph tops on a long run, I have changed the front sprocket, had the exhaust tampered with and thats it, I have phoned a few other dealers around the country and… Read Full Review

Like most small engined bikes these are capable of faster speeds. Firstly, ignition timing. This is retarded to to slow down the bike, secondly The reeds and jets in the carburetta can be replaced, this does increase fuel consumption but helps with speed. Third, the piston can be changed, try a company called Delco. I know they make better pistons than most but not sure they make one for the Comet. And last of all, My local Hyosung dealer has just told me that aftermarket exhausts are now becoming available, phone startwrights in Leeds, they know these bikes inside out.
If you can get all of these(or just some of them).
Your bhp should increase by 2 to 3 bhp for each thing done, possibly giving you a top speed of nearer 80,90 mph. This is possible, my mate on his Aprillia rs 125 still pisses all over them and much bigger bikes. Maybe we should all get one.

All my mates think it's fantastic and want one to - they've just got to get round the wife! This has got to be the best 125 on the road especially for the money. I walked past the Hyosung GT 125 Comet bike at least 3 times in my dealers while checking out the other 125 machines. It wasn't that I didn't like it, it was just hard to believe its a 125. This bike will have everyone saying "that's never a 125" as I have heard this I don't know how many times. This bike is really easy to ride as I hadn't ridden in 8 years and it only took me about 20 min's to get the feel of this machine. Overall I love the look and the price and the whole bike! From the minute my dad showed me the Hyosung GT125 Comet I was amazed by the looks and the styling and size are excellent. After starting the bike and warming off the choke the engine sounded great, sounds bigger than a 125. Mine is in black which suits it I have seen the yellow and that looks great but I not daring enough for that.

The bike pulls well and handles great top speed of 80 on hill in good condition. Huge 17 litre tank lasts forever I swear. Yet to see what the electrics will be… Read Full Review

I first saw a Hyosung GT 125 Comet in 2003 and I liked the Bandit looks from the word go. Well on the 18th of Decemeber 2004 I took the plunge and bought the updated model (look for the biggger head light). When I first started riding the comet it could only achive a poor 60-65mph top speed but the more miles and revs it got the more the speed increased to a quick 85-90mph at a constant and I have finaly just clocked 100mph down hill in good weather, so its sluggish when your breaking the bike… Read Full Review

I have bought 125 gtr. I think its a good bike for the money. I have not done any mods as yet as it has only just had its first 600 mile service. I've had a top speed of 78m.p.h so far but that was at 12000 revs. It doesn't accelerate very well but I'm hoping to sort that out in the not too distant future. Do the mod chips work?

Does anyone know if it would be possible to fit a Suzuki gs500 performance can to a comet 125? I know that they are basically the same bike and want to find a decent can for it.

Apparently they take a while to break in. Since mines got less than 1500 miles on clock and still only does 55mph. Other friend with them say the engine loosens up after 2K onward.

Well the best way to make a GT125 go quicker is to remove the catalytic converter in the rear exhaust, this really makes a difference, also if you don't already know the catalytic converter is the funny lump of metal welded to the end of the exhaust and when you remove the exhaust can, looks just like a bit of cardboard if you look inside it. Well just carefully remove this with a hacksaw then fit a Blueflame exhaust with the baffle removed as this also makes hell of a difference.
Hope this helped, oh just to let you know run the bike in for at least 750 miles before you expect to much of a dramatic speed change.

Steads Motocycle shop in Dagenham, East London have a showroom full of every Hyosung motorbike there is! They are a Hyosung dealer and have all the spares and performance parts you will ever want! I have a Hyosung GT125R. I brought it from this shop, when I got it, it only hit about 70-75 mph, after fitting an end can and fiddling around with the engine it hits about 95 mph. Great bike.
