The Crosman Backpacker 2289 is light, makes a nice carbine, powerfull. The sights are ok, standard bb/pellet gun setup. I have a 30mm 3X9 scope mounted on mine. Very accurate. I chose the pump over CO2 because the pump produces a higher fps. 600 verse 5With this pellet rifle you only need one shot for hunting small critters. I use gamo pellets. Reaches out to almost 40 yards no problem. Mine was less than $100.00 Great field gun.
Trigger could be a lot better but this is a survival/backback g ...

Make sure the valve gets modified to restore wasted power!!! 22 cal stopping power once it's valve had been modified. Really good accuracy once there is a scope.
Stock loose some people drill holes and use the screws for the pistol grips to make the stock stable scope is a must!!! And valve mods are a must especially if you shootAnything other than paper!!

Its a great gun but it would be a little better if it held more rounds at once and the barrel was easier to clean. Nice solid stock that looks cool and is comfortablenice long barrel for better accuracygreat model design.
Single shothard to fit cleaning rod down barrel

Very nice airgun to shoot. Not hard to pump up. Fairly powerful although Canadian version is downgraded in power due to gun laws etc.

The rifle works overall well as long as you keep it up by regularly oiling the metal parts and cleaning it. Also the first time i fired it i was like"well, this is going back to the store" only because i thought it was weak. but it is actually misleading and i realized this a few minites later... the gun has little to no recoil or noise when fired which makes you think its a bad gun but when you hit somthing you will see it is not actually weak.

I got my 2289 a few months ago, and immediately began modifying. Since the mods, this gun is just amazing. I replaced the plastic breech and stock 14" barrel with a long steel breech and a 24" barrel from Crosman Canada, all of which cost me about 60 bucks. Then I performed extensive modifacations on the transfer port, valve, piston and trigger. I then did a camouflage paint job on the stock and forearm, and mounted a Tasco 6-24x42mm Mil-Dot. I plan to get a clip-on barrel mounted bipod in the n ...

Great starter rifle which can be used for moderate plinking and close range small game hunting in stock trim. There is much to be desired by the more experienced shooter in the form of nearly limitless mods for power, accuracy, durability/looks, efficiency, and the list goes on. A great starting point is to buy the gun, and immediately fit it with one of the many steel/metal breeches available and mount a variable power scope on it. You want this because you have variable power output on the g ...

I'm a very bad rifle shooter (can't hit a pop can from 20 feet!), but I find this pellet gun is easy to shoot accurately. I can do a squirrel head-shot from 50 feet, which kills it instantly. I'm surprised by my accurately every time I use the gun. I thought I'd never even be able to hit a squirrel, much less hit it where I want to.

I picked the Crosman Backpacker 2289 up at a Canadian Tire in Halifax, Nova Scotia (Eastern Canada). At about $120 Canadian, it was certainly not a bad deal. I am a country bumpkin and live in what is known to the locals as Rodent County. I spend a lot of time blasting squirrels of my back porch, and this is definitely capable of that. Firing a .22 waddcutter at 495 fps, the lead goes in one end, and comes out the other about 25% wider, leaving a 1/4 inch exit wound, and bleeding the devil out i ...

I bought my Crosman Backpacker 2289 at D&L Aigun for $94 US so it wasn't all that cheap. I think it was worth the price though, so far anyway. It looks great and shoots great. I also but a cheap $10 scope, which works perfectly with the 2289. This is a very fun gun to shoot. I love that it shoots in .22 Cal. I recommend this gun 100%. Very nice and compact, can fit in your backpack easily.

With a 3-7 X 20 scope on the Crosman Backpacker 2289, I can shoot the pellets in a 1/2" circle at 10 meters, if I shoot from a rested position. So far I shoot it 1400 times with no problem at all. I got this rifle in November 2002 for $100 Canadian at Canadiantire.
